I had been having shoulder pain for several months. Shoulders are one of his specialties I was taken exactly on time for my appointment - which in itself I found to be amazing. Dr. Zimmerman was polite and did a thorough exam and diagnosed the cause. He recommended a steroid shot and I agreed. Three weeks late my shoulder pain is gone. His skill was obvious and he was great at actually listening. I highly recommend Dr. Zimmerman to anyone having shoulder issues. I make an appointment to get in very quickly because they were nice enough to open a slot up. I thought to myself, wow, how nice, this place will be great! I get there for my appointment and wait about a half hour to be seen. Everything from my previous appointment is explained to the doctor. There are three doctors there and they are all part time. I've had xrays done in the past and it showed arthritis in the joint. Well she wanted to do another one. Okay, fine. What do you know - the X-ray film doesn't develop she has to take another one. At this point I am in so much pain and my entire foot is swollen. While the doctor is doing a second X-ray she asks what shoes I wear to work. I tell her sneakers and she actually recommended I wear work boots! So let me get this right, you want me to attempt to squeeze my already swollen, painful foot into. Work boot when I can barely get my sneaker on??? Not happening!! She does the second X-ray and it doesn't develop and has no idea why. The only person to fix the machine is the other part time doctor and practice owner. Yup!! I leave with a blood work script and a prescription along with a follow up appt. and a diagnosis that it is 95% gout and should see a rheumatologist or my primary. Fast forward: I can't make the follow up appointment and call to reschedule. Then thought to myself why make a follow up if I should be seeing someone else. The receptionist says she will check with the doctor and call me back. She calls back and talks to my wife as if she is the patient. They got the blood work back but cannot give her the results. My wife says well can you give them to Anthony and the receptionist replied who is Anthony???? Are you kidding me??? I am Anthony and I am the patient. There is so much more I can add but don't have the time. Crazy experience and lesson learned.

So I am certainly not going to speak poorly about General Orthopedics as a whole. The women who…read morehandle reception are wonderful, courteous, kind, and thorough. Will Smith is amazing. Professional, kind, super chill, and very knowledgable. My only complaint is Art Smuckler. Now as far as his skill level, craft of the orthotics, and his knowledge and thoroughness with orthotics, feet, and the over all body mechanic knowledge he's fantastic. BUT, and it's a big but, his bedside manner is atrocious. I first saw Art for my orthotic fitting. Typical old school guy. Big ego. Talks a lot about himself and how he works with "the best athletes in the world" and the "highest level NBA teams." OK fine. I've dealt with big egos before. Prior to my 1st fitting (after meeting Art and my initial consult), reception messaged and said that the sneakers Art wanted me to buy from the office were no longer available in the color that I wanted. The women I spoke to suggested that I choose another style or purchase sneakers of my own in 2 sizes: 1/2 size bigger and a full size bigger, just to be sure. I purchased my own sneakers as instructed and waited in the room for Art. When Art came in he was very upset that I purchased my own shoes. I told him what had happened, but he didn't care. We continued with the fitting and he would not let it go. He completely lost it when I told him that I wasn't fond of the selection at the office which is why I purchased my own sneakers. He screamed at me. He got very close in my face and he was screaming at me saying: "You don't know who you're dealing with Honey!" "I'm the most sought after person in my field and I work with the most famous sportsman in the world!" At a certain point I was scared. I'm a smaller framed woman and he was looming over me yelling at me and pointing at me in my face. He threw one of the sneakers that I purchased across the room into the shoe box. I told him that he was being very unprofessional and that I did not want to deal with him any longer. At that point I demanded that he get Will Smith to finish my appointment. I had spent over $600 for the orthotics. I wasn't going to waste it. Will Smith came in and apologized for Art's behavior. Will also said that it was totally fine that I brought in my own sneakers. He approved of the brand and made his own suggestions. I will be going back only because of Will. The entire practice is great except for Art and his extremely large ego. As a woman, I do not feel safe with Art. He's very nasty and takes the slightest thing personal. I give General Orthotics a 4 because over all everyone is lovely. Art Smuckler, not so much.
