I arrived for my 12:20 appointment 15 minutes early hoping to get in and out quick. I waited over an hour to finally see the doctor.

I've been walking around the store for over twenty minutes and still haven't been greeted by a staff member.

I told her that I learned more in one visit (for my son, not even an appt for myself) then I have learned in many years seeing other eye doctors. dr. Johnny absolutely takes time to explain everything to you about your eyes. I have been seeing another eye doctor and paying out of pocket for a reevaluation every year. Dr. Johnny said that that diagnosis/solution (prism) RARELY EVER CHANGES, so I don't need to keep going back and having it evaluated and paying hundreds of dollars. Holy crap! He also explained what macular degeneration is and what causes it. My blonde son with light blue eyes needs to be wearing a baseball hat and sunglasses as often as possible to prevent it in his old age. So those are just two examples of fantastic helpful friendly information I got in one hour. Not to mention, the staff is so nice and helpful. My husband and I both got awesome frames that we love and get lots of compliments on. (and by the way, just now my husband had an issue with his friends and they fixed it quickly and no problem!!!) I just really can't say enough about this office and would recommend it HIGHLY and ENTHUSIASTICALLY to anyone!

I was going to go to my old eye place, but on my insurance website, it says this shop is one of their preferred locations. What is a preferred location you ask? Better discounts and more savings! I found out that Normandy has 4 different locations, but this one is closest to my home. I actually called and made an eye appointment through the Royal Oak location since they were closed that specific day. The guy was super nice and helpful on the phone, and gave me the breakdown of what to expect. I went in about a week and a half later and the whole experience was fabulous. Including the eye exam, I was in and out in about an hour. The last time I went for an exam, I swear it took closer to two hours. The optometrist was super cool and I really liked chatting with him. After I was done, I picked out my frames, and sat with a gal going over what I wanted. I got the anti glare coating (or whatever it's called) on my glasses and a few other things as well. My frames were under $200, but I got a nice discount and most of them covered due to insurance. About a week and a half later, I got a text stating that my glasses were ready for pickup. I was surprised it took the entire time I was quoted for them to get made, but it didn't bother me. Normandy is open late on Wednesdays, so I was able to stroll in after work to pick them up. There was literally no one else in the store. I tried them on and the glasses work great! My eyes feel weird since they are a stronger prescription then what I am used too. I also bought lens cleaner for $5 since I can also use it to clean my phone. Overall, I really loved how efficient and friendly the staff and process was here. I plan on going back in the future for many more eye exams as long as I am at this job with this insurance coverage. Thank you Normandy, you guys really do an excellent job!

I also want to shout out the front desk staff. They have been super nice and helpful. Original: Office staff were very friendly and helpful. I saw Dr. Robert Feldman. Although I felt he did a good job with the exam, the entire second half of my appointment felt extremely rushed. I specifically came here because I have had issues with my glasses prescription. When I asked if we could discuss my glasses, after he said we were done, he seemed very annoyed. He did take a look however, but his annoyance continued and he made me feel very rushed and unwelcome to ask questions. This is extremely upsetting considering I looked at many reviews and had this place recommended based on a community Facebook page. I am leaving with questions and concerns that were not addressed and will now need to come back because he already was gone immediately after my appointment ended.

When I arrived, they were quite busy and I wound up waiting for approximately twenty minutes to be seen. I completely understand the wait as I came there during one of their busiest times. Once it became my turn i was greeted by a woman with unnaturally dyed red hair, and I could tell, had an already karen like attitude. She sat me down and I tried on my glasses. The first pair, we're my riding glasses. Everything was fine. I could see good. The bifocals were lined up perfectly. The second pair are my daily glasses that I wear all the time. The distance vision portion was perfectly fine, but I couldn't see a thing out of the bifocals. The woman immediately became a bit frustrated and said that all the measurements were what they were supposed to be. And she didn't understand the problem. I told her regardless, I can't see out of the glasses in their current state. Could you please check the measurements? Make sure they're right. We have to send these back. She took the glasses and went into the back room for another 10 minutes came back out and told me to try them again. I put them on and still the same issue. The bifocal portion was way too low on the lens for me to properly see out of I took them off, placed them on the table. And said, very quietly and very calmly, no I still can't see a damn thing. She then immediately began to chastise me and dress me down in front of everybody in the store about my language, and that I am never to use profanity around them and the children that were in there, there was one child. If you can call him that in the store and he was about seventeen years old. And I think he's heard worse things than somebody whisper the word damn. I am a 59-year-old man. I have never been chastised and dressed down by anybody in public that way, that was the most embarrassing thing. I think I have ever experienced. And because of this house of optical is losing a twenty five plus year customer, his wife and his children as well. The only decent thing about that place that I can tell at this time is Priscilla. She was extremely helpful, extremely polite. She took over everything from this vile woman and come to find out, figured out that my eyes were not measured properly by the technician who initially took the measurements, and that the glasses were wrong and needed to be remade. Priscilla deserves a raise. The red headed. Karen deserves a pink slip.
