I've been wearing eyeglasses since I was 8 years old and it's always been a hassle. From finding…read morenice frames to getting the right prescription and service, it's made me completely dread shopping for eyewear. I also have what is considered a difficult face. My narrow-set eyes and very low, fine nose bridge mean frames are always too big and sit on my cheeks. After wearing the same pair of glasses for over 8 years, I desperately needed new ones. I went to dozens of stores, always walking out feeling worse than when I came in. I discovered Bar A Lunettes after Googling "custom made glasses" in Montreal and low and behold, this place does offer a customized service as well as many wonderful frames. The concept is unique, you are seated at a bar where someone gets to know you and hand picks frames that could suit you. You don't feel overwhelmed by the choices, because you can't really seem them- all the frames are behind the bar. It's a sleek stylish studio, a totally different experience than any other optical store. The staff is the most helpful I've ever encountered in my life. Unlike other places where employees were quick to give up on me, Bar A Lunette constantly suggested options. Within just a few moments, I had already found a frame! It wasn't a perfect fit, but this is where the magic comes in- they can make modifications, add extra nose pads, fuze more plastic on the frame itself to fill in the too large nose area for example, or sand off some parts for better adjustment since they have their own workshop. The turn around time is also very quick since they are able to carve your lenses on the spot instead of sending them off to a lab. My glasses were done in 2 business days. I ended up having to go back for some other adjustments and it was always done in the most professional and friendly manner. They offer unlimited adjustments for life, so you can always come back if you need something fixed. If you want a truly unique experience, you can also make an appointment with Marie Sophie Dion to design a pair of glasses from scratch. You'll never find this elsewhere! I would strongly recommend Bar A Lunettes if you have trouble finding the perfect fit, or if you like customized service. They also have very original frames of all types. The designs are eye catching and never tacky. Frankly I was bored of many other "designer" fashion frames on the market. If you're like me and do not want to walk around with an "MK" logo plastered on your face, you'll be relieved there's none of that here. The staff is experienced, helpful and the passion in their work is evident with the time they take to explain everything to you and make sure you are getting the best possible experience from start to finish. After finding that frame, I walked out with tears in my eyes, happy tears for once- that's how enthused I was. Must check out! Even if you don't need to wear prescription glasses, they have tons of sunglasses worth trying on.

Orthokeratology is a surgery free way for children and young adults to leave their glasses behind and not have to wear contact lenses all the time.    It is the use of specially designed contact lenses to temporarily reshape the cornea to improve vision.  It is worn at night to shape the front of the eye while you sleep.  The minute I set my foot at this Clinic, I was impressed with the interior setting, the decor and the cleanliness. I have always associated a clinic to be much like a hospital that has sick patients, rude nurses and a heavy atmosphere.  How could I have been so wrong? We were greeted well by one of the three customer service personnel. The waiting time was very reasonable. All the equipment around looked new and technologically advanced. The eye exam performed by qualified professionals went extremely well. It is quite rare to have professionals being overly patient and attentive in dealing with their clientele. Exceptional service! There is a huge selection and the service is fast. Oh, and my son loved his exam, the optometrist was excellent with kids. I paid under $200 and my insurance covered most of it. There is a kids space for drawing while they wait to be called. Compared to other places, this place is bigger and better organized with a huge reception area to keep things moving along. The optometrist was perfectly bilingual. I found street parking nearby (walking distance in the neighborhood) but there is also paid parking directly on the street. I really like the case my glasses came in (I got to choose) and overall I had an excellent experience here! Great for all ages.
