I've been going to this lenscrafters location my whole life as someone who stared wearing glasses at 8. A couple years back I switched to contacts and the support their team has for me is so amazing. I often forget to order contacts on time and when I run out they're so supportive and provide me with a couple free trial lenses until my boxes come in. The ordering, shipping, and payment process is so smooth I don't have to worry for a moment. Mindy helped me this last time and she quickly picked up my file just from my phone number. I felt like we've been friends forever the way she just knew my prescription, address, preferred amount and contact type. I've been a loyal LensCrafters customer for 20+ years, which makes this very disappointing. I spent about $500 on glasses after an exam in November, but the prescription was clearly wrong I couldn't see properly. I was told I could come back within six months, which I did. At my recent visit, they confirmed my prescription had changed, but then refused to update my lenses due to "dry eye and mild cataracts," saying my vision may keep changing. Instead, they want me to pay another $400. I followed their instructions and still ended up with unusable glasses and no resolution. I visited LensCrafters / Island Optometry at Fashion Island in Newport Beach on April 25, 2025 for a routine eye exam with Dr. Ghezal Abdali. I was not experiencing any major vision issue and was comfortable with my existing glasses. During the exam, the prescription result showed a major and unexpected change in my myopia compared with my long-term prescription history. Before leaving, I specifically told Dr. Abdali that the result did not make sense and asked her to check again. She rechecked and insisted that my prescription had changed drastically in one year. Because that still did not make sense to me, I sought a second opinion from my long-time optometrist a few days later. That prescription was much closer to my historical pattern. A follow-up exam in 2026 confirmed the same result. I entered the data into Excel and the chart shows the issue clearly: the April 25, 2025 LensCrafters measurement sharply deviates from more than ten years of prescription history, and then the measurements return to the prior trend. I sent a certified letter asking them to address the issue, but they did not care to respond. I am now considering further action. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this location for an eye exam or prescription. If you receive a prescription that seems unusually different from your history, I strongly recommend getting a second opinion before buying glasses. read more

Very unprofessional. I ordered a pair of sunglasses in the store, as they didn't have the style I was looking for in stock. They claimed that my order would be shipped before the date I needed it, but it failed to arrive until weeks later. Had to go back to the store multiple times despite receiving a confirmation email stating my order was ready for pickup. Made multiple errors in basic customer information when creating my account and didn't care to fix them. They were clearly just trying to make the sale and move on to the next customer. I will not return and would not recommend this business to anyone. read more

They claim 100% customer satisfaction guarantee within 30 days, and yet when I came in a couple times because (1) they ordered the wrong frame and (2) I was having issues with the lenses, I was treated with a terrible attitude and made to feel like I am bothering them with my concerns. Being told that "we have reordered your frames a few times" and that it would need to get "approval" for further action was rude and nonsensical, especially considering that much of the issues were from the incompetence of the workers and I was well within my "30 day customer satisfaction guarantee" period. I demanded they take the glasses back, got my refund, provided feedback to the manager (who never actually took accountability or apologized for the attitude) and will not be working with Lenscrafters again. Horrible experience. Dr did not check old glasses, left lens in both glasses is not correct! Did not include the prison for double vision. This Dr was recommended because my mother has Glaucoma. I called Tuesday afternoon and was told to come in. Why would'nt they have made an appointment if needed? Why did the Dr not check her old lens? I've never had an eye Dr order glasses before checking the current prescription. Dr did not check her old prescription The Dr was in but wouldn't come it to see her, my Mother is 98 years old and not easy to get around. It would have taken her 5 minutes to assist her. How many time have any of us been in a Dr office only for the Dr to leave for a few minutes when the Dr has a call? Now asked to return in a week Very inconvenient!!! read more

They tell you exams takes 45 mins to an hr, however you seat and wait for one hr. This happened to me every time I go there for past 4 years, they over book, also lie and say there are 2 drs, never there has been 2 drs. Don't go if you value your time read more

After many years of good experiences with eye care and glasses, I won't return due to my recent experience. I had an examination with optician Dr. Hashemi, whose practice is operated as a sublease in LensCrafters. I needed new glasses for reading and working at a computer screen. I was given a prescription, selected frames, and the glasses were ready a day later. But I could barely read with them, and found my cheap CVS readers more usable. When I complained to LensCrafters, they told me I needed progressive lenses. So, I was given a different prescription and told the new lenses would take 7-10 days and I would be called when they were ready. When 10 days had passed without a call and I inquired, I was told the new glasses had been made but lost in shipping by UPS and new glasses would again be made and ready in another 7-10 days. When they were finally ready, I picked them up and immediately found them unusable due to distortion that made wearing them feel like looking out of a fish bowl. I called LensCrafters and made an appointment on the first day available after returning from a week's vacation and after seeing my opthalmologist at Dr. Hashemi's recommendation. When I returned to LensCrafters with the glasses and my opthalmologist's corrected prescription, LensCrafters agreed to correct the glasses. The next day, they instead called and informed me that I would have to pay again. The reason? The 30-day warranty on the lenses had run out. I pointed out that I still had no usable glasses and over 20 days of the 30-day period had lapsed while the glasses were at LensCrafters as they unsuccessfully corrected, lost, then recorrected the glasses, yet they remained unusable. Told that's policy, even if I was not at fault for their delay, LensCrafters left me with a pair of expensive and unusable glasses that sit in their case on my desk, while I use my cheap CVS readers for now. After years of good service, I will look elsewhere. read more

I just had THE BEST EYE EXAM. My 10 year old and I had an appointment and was greeted by Catherine an absolute jewel so sweet. You could hire employees that are respectful to the patrons that walk in the front door. This was one of the WORST experiences I've ever had. Our family will never return to LensCrafters. We paid for insurance on all of our lenses in January'. We return 7 months later to get new lenses, and one of the employees tells us it's over 1k to replace, even though we had insurance. Make sure you check your insurance... because they won't. Even if it's through them! read more

I have gone to this LensCrafters at Fashion Island off an on for years. The service has steadily declined over the years. Most recently I had some new lenses made for my Raybans. I asked for the same prescription as the most recent glasses I had gotten there. Not only did I get what seemed like distorted lenses nothing like ANY prescription I had ever gotten - one of the lenses just fell out all together. When I went to check with the store about why the lease fell out and why the prescription was so bad the response I got was that this was a reading glass prescription and didn't bother to assist or solve the problem and really could have cared less. Upendra C i have rimless distance glasses. Accidentally on one side the rim broke and lens separeted from the frame. After several calls to some renowned opticians who either said they don't repair or they repair only what they sell, I got lucky to call Lens Crafters and they to said bring to the store. They fixed the glasses within an hour and saved me unnecessary expanse of buying new glasses. The employees at the store are polite and very helpful. Sammy and unique did amazing. I was able to book an appointment the same day at 3pm on a Friday. They actually have a in-house lab so I was able to pick up my glasses within an hour which is unheard of I also requested the transitions and somehow they were able to make it. Absolute horrible service. I spent over $3200 in this place for exams for my wife and I to pair of glasses for me and a pair of glasses for her. Less than a year later, my frames broke, and they couldn't find the parts to get them fixed, so I bought new frames of the exact same pair of glasses. They couldn't figure how to put the lenses back in the exact same frames they were new. Customer service sucks. And expensive. I don't mind paying expensive as long as you get service. Started have double vision on the Sunday before Memorial Day. One of the few places that was open and could see me was LensCrafters in Fashion Island. I got in by noon for a full eye exam. Thankfully I did, because it turned out my eyes were not the issue, but my elevated blood pressure was. My eyes and eye exam turned out fine. But the eye doctor was concerned enough about my BP, that she recommended I go right over to the ER at Hoag Hospial. I ended spending five hours at the ER at Hoag Hospital because of my elevated BP. I had two CAT scans and an MRI. Thankfully everything checked out okay. I had stoped taking my BP medicine and that had caused my BP to elevate to concerning levels. Back on my medicine and my BP is back to normal. I am very thankful that LensCrafters was one of the few eye exam locations open on a holiday. I am also thankful that the OD working on Memorial (Dr. Sammy Hashemian) took the time of fully evaluate me and send me to the ER. Things could have been a lot worst for me if she had not. I can't thank her enough for showing a true concern for her patients. Highly recommend the LensCraters and the staff at Newport's Fashion Island. Awesome job!!! read more

She is patient and goes above and beyond to improve all aspects of eye health and is diligent, meticulous, and precise. In my two decades of living in the USA, I have experienced a decline in Medicine & Doctors, since 2010. It's all about the money and most Doctors, treat patients abysmally. Healing is unfortunately not their priority anymore. There are a few exemplary ones and Dr Sammy is one of the few! Arrogant staff. Took 3 weeks to remake glasses that the lenses separated from the frame. Initially I complained the prescription didn't seem right. When I got The new glasses back the remake lenses were much better!! But, since the 30 day Guarantee had expired I had to pay $50 for the remake. Got a call that my appointment pushed back to 10:15 since, the doctor has a meeting. I said no problem, waiting till 10:30, apparently the doctor is not even here yet. No problem. Wow! Over the top quality service and thoroughness. Dr. Honey Hashemian gave me the most thorough eye exam I've ever had in my life! She was so patient and conscientious in working through several options on how I can now use my contacts without reading glasses! So awesome! And she went out of her way to make sure I had a few different prescription options as I try out my new lens combos. I also love how they have all the newest, state of the art digital optometry equipment so that I know my eyes are getting the best exam possible. Also, on the lens and frame side of things, James and the rest of the staff were so helpful and patient in helping me find just the right frame/lens combo. Loved this store before but not now. Manager before was very pleasant to talk . Love my doctor there ! I did exam with doctor and many things were confuzing because I need to do few glasses. I tried to talk to specialist- lady but she didn't really wanted to help ... then came the manager -he wanted Very fast to "help " - he didnt really wanted to hear my problem. He was not welcoming or warm . Every my question he was answered with stress. I got very stressed out there and I told the manager about it. Being a customer of that location since 2016 I am very disappointed with their customer service and follow thru. I have purchased several pairs of glasses and use their Optometry service. My kudos to Dr. Sammy and Dr. Honey but my total dissatisfaction is with the front of the store; sales. Being a loyal customer I had decided to replace my existing pair of lenses with a new set at the Newport Beach store. I felt it should have been a straight forward transaction but it wasn't. I was assisted by J@&# (sales associate). She started and finalized my order. When it came time to pay I provided my credit card. Shortly thereafter a message on the computer screen informed her to call a number. Rather than call the number as it instructed she asked to resubmit my credit card. At that point the system generated a receipt for two duplicate charges and a credit. To my complete surprise the credit can be only mailed in for of a company check and cannot be credited or reversed at the store level. J#*@ quickly grabbed her Assistant Manager, D*'l@#, to inform me their company policy regarding refunds. I emphatically said to them I found it to be very inconvenient and wrong not to be able to credit a mistake that was caused by their associates. They assured me a check would be sent out promptly by the following week?!?!. So I asked to be called by the store manager, Monique. The store associates informed me she doesn't keep set hours at that location and is covering another store as well. After picking up my order the following week I had yet to receive my refund of $215.98. The Assistant Manager told me she would follow up with me the beginning of the next week . The second week had ended and yet still no refund nor any phone calls from the store manager. At my wits end I called the Assistant Manager, D&:/#*, sharing my dismay and asked to speak with their District Manager, Amy. Still no call nor any contact regarding this issue. 20 days later I have decided to share this with other Yelpers on the poor service and communication of this Location. I do not expect this type of annoyance from any store let alone a store in Fashion Island. I pay for service and convenience. I do not pay for lack of training and poor communication. I still have not received a call or email as of 7/13/2020. If you want to be considered a successful organization in a luxury market you have to put your customers first! read more

This is one of my favorite LensCrafters locations. It's not as busy as some of the other stores, their staff is friendly and helpful, and they have a great selection. With brands like Tiffany, Tory Burch, Prada, Dolce & Gabbana, and Coach, there are plenty of great styles to choose from! I usually stop by this location after I get my new prescription, but this time I came in just to look at the sunglasses. I've never been as consistent as I should be about wearing my sunglasses but I knew a new, cute pair would keep me motivated! After a salesperson helped me try on several pairs, I found a pair that was perfect for me! Not too small or too big, I found a simple pair of frames that suited my style. Whether I'm reordering contacts, getting a new prescription for my existing frames, or buying a new pair of sunglasses, I've always been happy with the service and selection at this LensCrafters location! read more
