I stopped by LensCrafters to get a new pair of frames and found they have a good selection of eyewear from various designer brands - better than most eye glass shops in the area. The sales reps are very nice and welcoming. No problems there. The prices were relatively fair and priced at actual retail value. Which is better than Cohens, but not cheaper than small shops or online. So, if you have really good insurance it will make a big difference. They do have sales, but note that you can't apply your insurance to a sale price. Also, note that they will attempt to give you a lot of add-ons like blue light filters and scratch warranties, so be sure to review your quote. Unfortunately, they could see my Spectera insurance but couldn't apply my discount. Also, the rep added a ton of extras that I wasn't interested in, which more than doubled the price. So, I had to pass. Overall, it was a solid experience. However, if you are looking for bargains, then you may want to shop around. PS: The lab to prepare eyeglasses closes at 5 pm! read more

I would give 0 star for their customer services if there is such option. The sales people here are extremely rude, incompetent, and put charges on your card randomly, specifically: - The person who was assigned to be my sales didn't seem to be sober at the time of service, and I could smell that he had alcohol and came to work. He entered my personal information to create an account, and later I realized he got my name wrong, my email wrong, and my phone number wrong, causing me unable to receive eyeglasses pick-up notification. - They charge you randomly with warranty without asking you. FSA does not cover warranty and it caused a whole mess that I had to go to the store and return it. - I don't know what happened to the sales people there, but they seem to hate this job so much, and as a result being so rude to their customers. I mean if they hate this job, they can always quit. They don't have to use their customers as an outlet of their dissatisfaction. As a customer of LensCrafters, I do not accept this type of service. What a bunch of morons! They took my order, immediately charged my credit card, and when I called a week later to pick up they told me they had no order in my name. They forced me to come in and show them my receipt, and made me sit for over 20 minutes (while ignoring me part of the time) as they figured out what was wrong with their system before refunding my order. LOL, among all the other jokes in this country, this place is the epitome of jokes. At first, I asked over the phone if they accept VSP insurance, implying whether they are in the VSP network. They said yes. Nevertheless, when I was about to be done with the frame selection, they retorted, "we accept VSP but we are out-of-network". Therefore, I left forthwith, tired of such a word game. Great selection of eyewear from affordable to designer. It's a large store and plenty of variety with a style for everybody. The service is less than desirable. I always appreciate not being hounded by the staff when I'm browsing, but they were completely inattentive. After 20 mins of trying on glasses I had to go and find somebody to help me purchase them. He was less than excited to help me look up my insurance and take the measurements, perhaps he and the other 10 employees had other things to do. The glasses came out well and were done the next day. So all in all I got what I needed, but make sure you know exactly what you're looking for and can give them a bit of direction when you're ready. read more

Lencrafters in Newport mall is one of a kind store. They go above and beyond to ensure that the customers have a horrible experience. The sales staff will passionately be indifferent to your needs and wait time to ensure that you are not served on time and not cared for. With the incredibly unique service, you will also have an opportunity to make life-long relationships with other customers who also have been waiting indefinitely and share the same sense of frustrations as you. The (I presume) store manager lady will come over several times to personally pay attention to you and by that I mean she will come you to and ask you to wait for the smallest of help while she is literally doing nothing around the store. In just the last few months the lady in question has 1) messed up my frame- ordered glasses with incorrect power 2) made me wait for over an hour for no apparent reason 3) blamed me because my glasses were made with incorrect power 4) spoken to me in a demeaning tone (several times). Like I said, a truly one-of-a-kind store. The one star is for some of the other staff members who I found to be actually nice. read more

The eye doctor was fine but the trouble started when i went to buy the glasses. I picked the frames that were covered and the prescription was for simple reading glasses. It should have been a total of $10 but the older female associate (who had fought with a young man who came to help me when she disappeared) insisted it would be $50. I asked why and wanted to take a photo of the cost breakdown to check ith my insurance. She immediately closed her computer and said, "you're not allowed to take a photo of that!!" Of the cost? Is it a secret? Clearly, she was trying to manipulate me in some way. Sure enough, I get home and -- indeed -- the ones I picked have a $10 copay. I had 3 pairs of Raybans that needed fixing. One was bent and two had broken lenses. Davida at LensCrafters was nice and friendly when I first stopped in just to ask questions. I dropped them off a few days later on a Wednesday evening. About 11 AM the next day she called me and said they were all 3 ready. She even had me try them on and adjust one pair that needed more tightening. Cleaned the lenses too. So nice so friendly and told me to come back so we can maintain my lenses together. I would give no stars if it were an option. This place is ridiculous (eye exam section). The policies do not make sense, the staff can't explain them and it all comes off as a scam. They allow you to book certain detailed appointments then call you back to advise those services aren't offered on the selected date. Then why did you let me book it, either via the website or phone? I dropped my sunglasses to the floor the other day. One lens popped out. I went to the store seeking for help. The young technician played with it for a few Minutes and told me there is no way he can fix it. He said the frame is twisted. I asked "are you sure?". He said "yes". I asked to talk to his manager. He said she is in the front. I went to the front to talk to the manager. She looked me up in their system and told me they can't fix it since it has been a few years old. I bought two identical pairs a few years ago. The first one has been out of commission. This 2nd pair is almost like brand new since I don't use it much. I went to a different store and people fixed it promptly for me, for free! Yes you can fix it. You just need to have a heart to really want to help your customers. What a disappointing experiance! I am a long time customer of this store. My visit on 7-30-10...awful. Foremost, I wen to buy my 11 year old glasses. The salesman, Deepak, calculated my total without asking me for my preferences. He elected the most elections for my kid: featherwates complete with antiglare which not only raised it by over $80 than the normal featherwates plus that I always buy but has to be custom made! After work, I rush to this mall, pay for parking, pay $260.00 for one pair of kid's glasses, walk around the mall for 2 hours making sure to give them more than enough time... Just to walk in and be informed of the above! I was so angry! I was told to come back tommorow the next day and it would be done at 11am! It is now the next day, I have paid for parking, an arrived at 11:49am! I am told it's still not ready.... I am waiting... It's 12:13pm so far!... Still waiting. I went earlier today to pick up glasses for myself and my child. Despite being paying customers, the associate made us feel as though we were an inconvenience. My daughter asked for a case for her new glasses and when the associate placed 2 choices in front of her, the moment my daughter started to reach for her choice, the associate practically grabbed it from her hand. After she placed the box into a bag, I saw that she had left the old pair on the table and she stopped just short of taking them from me when I picked them up. I also requested information regarding our pupillary distance and she made it a point to tell me that they usually don't provide that information to customers. I did get the information eventually but why should I feel like I can't have access to my own information? Am I wrong for wanting to be able to purchase spare glasses elsewhere without paying almost $500 per pair? I usually make my purchases at this location but I'm going to need to really think about other options when it's time to renew my prescription. read more

So convenient! I don't love this mall but at some point in your life you will go to Macys. As you're walking through racks of dresses and blouses you will see a LensCrafters sign. Seems random but I admit I like the idea of trying on clothes while my husband gets his eye exam. Good idea! The store and doctor office are on the third floor near Women's Clothing. Staff is very friendly, appointments were on time and nice selection of glasses. Dr. Bharj was also friendly and easy to speak with. She is enthusiastic and asks pertinent questions. Maikel Filobos-- optometrist was a very nice man, who along with Jeannie help me with the eyeglass emergency. I'm always floored by the fact that vision insurance is pitiful and the cost of my glasses go up and up and up over the years. It is just very expensive. I never understand why. I spent a total of $499 and that's with a 50% discount on the lenses of my glasses and the frames cost $100 with after a $50 discount and a $35 one year insurance policy. Uggggghhhh! Based on the reviews on here, I was dreading going to lenscrafters to get a new pair of glasses. I guess people who have terrible experiences are more likely to post than those with normal experiences, because this place wasn't terrible at all. I went here on a Friday night after work, so it was moderately busy. A pleasant store associate acknowledged me seconds after I walked in the store. I browsed the website before going in, so I had an idea of what I was looking for. After going down the line of glasses, I stopped in front of the locked case again since I had my heart set on a pair of Tiffany & Co. glasses. The same associate came over again to help me almost immediately. Unfortunately, they didn't have the ones I wanted. She checked to see if they had them in stock underneath, but had no luck. I ended up finding similar glasses, although they were $60 more, and she helped me decide on black vs. tortoiseshell. She was able to get everything set up (payment, prescription, etc.) in a reasonable amount of time. With a $25 discount from online and 40% off lenses discount, I still ended up paying $625 ($410 for the frames, about $180 for the lenses). I have Superior Vision insurance, I believe they will cover around $75, and I was kind of upset that she couldn't bring up my insurance information with them. Now I have to submit a claim to get reimbursed. I'm not sure if this was their fault or if Superior Vision always requires submitting claims, but that's kind of annoying nonetheless. I was told I could pick up my glasses within an hour. I did a little bit of shopping and came back around an hour later. Within 15 minutes, I was out the door with my new glasses and I couldn't be happier! Update: I almost dropped this review to 2 stars based on an experience I had last week. I went into LensCrafters after work with my boyfriend since he was picking up his glasses. My glasses have been sliding down my nose more frequently than I'd like, so I figured I could get an adjustment since I was there anyway. The woman barely spent a couple of minutes trying to adjust them. She put them on my face once, then adjusted them again quickly and basically told me if I wasn't happy with how they were fitting I could come back. What? Who says that? I went home and they were worse than they were before. They kept slipping down my nose, probably 5 times more than what they were before. It was unbearable. I decided to go back today after work since I was already at the mall. I was greeted almost instantly at the front desk and was told to sit down and wait for someone to adjust my glasses. I was in and out within 15 minutes (maybe a little less) and I can't believe how much better my glasses fit now. The man who adjusted my glasses was very friendly and made sure they fit properly before I left. He put the glasses on me multiple times after adjusting the frames, making sure that each adjustment was helping and made a minor tweak at the end when they were slightly lopsided (my face is slightly crooked lol). All in all, you're going to get some good people who really know what they are doing and want to make someone's day or people who are just in it for a paycheck. I think the lesson I learned here is not to discount a place just because of one bad experience - give them the chance to make it up. That's why I upped my review to 5 stars. read more

I came to Citilight Optical, inside of LensCrafters, for an eye exam with my son. I found the optometrist through my EyeMed membership portal which is located inside of LensCrafters. I received a call back from them asking for my credit card info in case of a no-show or cancellation. I really hate giving my info out like this because this means they keep it on file. It's one more person/office that now has my credit card info who I'm sure doesn't have great firewall software. After arriving to my appointment I came to the realization that they accept walk-ins!!! So this means people walking in DO NOT have to give their credit card info out and the people who decide to actually schedule their appointments do. So much for me trying to be organized with my schedule LOL!! The plastic clipboards used to fill out paperwork were filthy with dirt caked underneath the clip. It was so disgusting!! How can you not see this if you're passing them around for use everyday?? To make matters worse, someone was in the back (an employee) with a horrible cough hacking like crazy!! So not sanitary!! When I went in for my exam the chin pieces on their machinery had no paper protectors like everywhere else I've been to have. I'm hoping they were sanitized properly before my use but if the clipboards are any indication of their cleanliness...The only person who did sanitize machinery in front of me was the actual doctor. Thank you for that!! People want to see things sanitized in their presence. After my exam, I was flooded with an enormous amount of info regarding pricing and additional exams for contacts that I had to stop the lady mid-sentence and explain to her that this was a way too much info and asked if she had a handout explaining it all. She said no. If you're going to bombard people with information I would highly suggest having a handout or pamphlet so that people may reference what you just told them. Do you really expect a person to retain such a large amount of info?? I asked if my insurance info could be verified while I wait to see how much I was covered for frames. They could not. They said LensCrafters did that. I walked over to the LensCrafters part of the store and then was told they could not until I had my prescription because that's how their computer system worked. PICK UP THE PHONE AND CALL THEN!! So much for going above and beyond for the customer. This particular LensCrafters/Optometrist was a very disappointing experience compared to the others I have been to. After a month of waiting for two pairs of glasses I gave up. She made excuse after excuse and was truly the rudest and ignorant person I have ever done business with. Last Saturday 10/8/22 I visited Lenz Crafters to have my glasses adjusted. Although I purchased them in April of this year, Saturday was my first chance to have them adjusted. I spoke and dealt with Anthony, a rather pleasant fellow. I expected to wait because the receptionist said I would have to, but he saw me and came to my rescue. He informed me of what to do to care for them, and he told me the problem. A well meaning associate of mine tried to fix them but after he fixed them within 30 minutes they'd give me a headache. I have been a customer at Lenscrafters for over 15 years and back then I would probably have given them a 5 star review. In the last couple of years the management and sales team have declined in customer service. Purchased glasses last week and needed to go back to get my eye dilated at the Dr's office next door and had to put on my trail contacts. Unfortunately I forgot my eyeglass case and asked if I can get a spare just to prevent me from scratching the lenses in my bag or dropping them. Mind you I told them I just got my glasses from them last week. The manager Dana told the other associate that if I am not purchasing glasses today I would not be able to get a case and the each eyeglass comes with it's own case. I'm sorry but that's straight BS I have gotten lenses replaced and dropped off without a case and received one at pickup. I wasn't asking for a branded one just a cheap covering to protect my eyeglasses. After that I asked if there were any for sale and they say no. I am not some random person that walked in looking for a freebie, I am a long time customer who buys glasses every year even though my prescription doesn't change. It's nice to know that I will do business at a different location since, you guys are not about customer service anymore. I miss the old team with Ed, Anthony and Adrianna. Had a really great experience for my first time here tonight for both my eye exam and picking out my frames. The optometrist I had, I believe her name was Dr. Todd, was thorough and very kind. She was down to earth and chatted with me the whole time while giving me a great exam. I found their equipment really up to date and modern. For frames, I was helped by two associates and both were lovely. I found a great pair of glasses, for measured and my glasses were ready for me to wear home in an hour. Very happy! read more

Perhaps this eyewear chain is not expected to be above average in its industry, but this branch, in particular, is so bad that I don't know where to begin... Our first time in the store, they were experiencing computer issues. The 2nd time and most recent time.... They were coincidentally experiencing computer issues. I'm writing this review after the most recent visit in which all we wanted was for them to adjust the pricey designer frames that we purchased. We are talking about taking those tiny little screwdrivers and tightening those tiny little screws on the hinges of the glasses. Our exceptionally bad store rep, Mr. Deepak Jacobi, asked is we bought the service plan! When he confirmed on the very slow-working computer that we hadn't, he said that it would cost $25 to make the repair. When we expressed our dismay at having bought the frames at this store in June of this year and now being asked to pay $25 to tighten loose screws... Mr. Jacobi stated that the problem with the glasses was user mishandling... I'll stop my tale here because the conversation deteriorated rapidly after that comment. October 11, 2015 around 5-6pm. I have a new prescription and asked for a quote for lenses using my old frame. I was with the impression that I can save some money using my old frame knowing that new frames already cost $100 or more. After showing my prescription to one of the people there and I requested for a transition lens with anti-glare and scratch resistant feature, I was told that it would cost me around $500 for the lens alone. WOW, that EXPENSIVE??? Here's their catch, they will give me 40% off on cost of lens if I buy the frame with them. I asked for the amount and cost if I buy the frame from their store...it will still end up $500++ People need due diligence when it comes to money and establishments like this will baffle you with words if you don't ask them to show you the numbers. This was my first time this location, the ophthalmologist was so nice and so helpful. However, on the other side where you pick out your glasses, they are extremely rude. I was charged over $100 more then I was already paying for something I did not ask for. When I had explained twice I did not want the extra stuff. The following week after I picked up my glasses, the frame cracked. They were kind enough to replace them. A month later they cracked on the same side again. I never dropped my glasses. I originally had this as a one star review but am changing it to four with how it was handled after the fact. We waited over 30 mins for the optician, only for her to help a customer who had been there after me first. Didn't say a single thing when she came to the table to measure my prescription. As if she didn't hear us complain to the manager. We left after having my glasses measured and was told to come back in an hour and a half. The optician was able to shorten the time it took for my glasses and we were able to go back earlier and pick them up. We spoke for a little bit and I understand she was the only one working at the time and there was confusion regarding who was next. I appreciate what she did to make the experience better. read more

As I needed "real" glasses, and LensCrafters had a 50% off frames special, I wended my way there a few weeks ago. The assistant helping me did not seem to have any skill at choosing lenses, and as I don't either I found a complete stranger--also looking for glasses--who was most helpful and eager to share her opinion, which I instinctively trusted. I ordered the lenses both progressive (like trifocals but without the line) and transition (the type that get darker in the sun). When I went to pick up the glasses the next day, I discovered that they barely got dark at all, and the slight color change made them turn a headache-inducing light bluish rather normal sunglass color. My bad luck--a new eye doctor I had visited messed up the prescription, so I had to return them in any case (and to be fair, LensCrafter said they would provide new lenses if I got a correction from the doctor). The transition part was a real problem though as my eyes are light-sensitive. Seems LensCrafters pretty much doesn't provide real, normal color, transitional lenses anymore. The upshot: I returned the lenses, kept the frames, and visited a small, local optical shop in downtown Jersey City--they gave super-service and I'm very happy with my glasses. My two favorites are Natasha and the manager Lauren! Every one here is engaging, happy to answer your questions, and gives you the personalized no pressure attention to get you comfortable and happy. Ordered a pair of eye glasses on 3/11/2021 and didn't get a call at all. Had to call for 2 days multiple times with no answer at 11 am. When I finally got an answer I was told that my glasses had been ready since the 20th and it's now 25th. Terrible experience with Balvinder Bharj. She tried to "very nicely explain to me" that there are two charges for contacts and glasses exams (yes.. I know this.. thank you I have been getting my eyes checked since the 3rd grade..and wearing contacts for 10+ years) yet proceeded to tell me that with my insurance that it would be a $110 charge for JUST the contact lense exam.. I left because to be quite frank.. there's no way that was correct. Called my insurance.. verified the $10 co-pay for an eye exam and that the contact lens exam IS INCLUDED IN MY INSURANCE. Complete waste of time.. she doesn't know what she's doing and I should have just listened to my fiance when he mentioned she didn't seem like she knew what she was doing when he went last week. I've been going to this LC for years. Michael has been helping us out since then and he's probably the only employee I can trust with my glasses. The eye doctor that gave me a check up the last time I was there was a very nice and informative. With all that said, the place is extremely understaffed, thus leaving customers waiting for minutes on in, just for inquiries! When I picked my glasses up a few hours later, the lady helped me to do the final check and adjust was also really professional and nice. My experience was good at Lenscrafters. They were nice, knowledgeable, and professional. I had my glasses in one hour and the entire experience was easy. This was my second time using this store and both times I have had a good experience. The issue with this store, is in fact not the store, but the "independent doctors of optometry" who are next door and not connected to Lenscrafters. Don't go to Citilight Optometry. Save yourself and god somewhere else but do use Lenscrafters. read more
