    What a disappointing experiance! I am a long time customer of this store. My visit on 7-30-10...awful. Foremost, I wen to buy my 11 year old glasses. The salesman, Deepak, calculated my total without asking me for my preferences. He elected the most elections for my kid: featherwates complete with antiglare which not only raised it by over $80 than the normal featherwates plus that I always buy but has to be custom made! After work, I rush to this mall, pay for parking, pay $260.00 for one pair of kid's glasses, walk around the mall for 2 hours making sure to give them more than enough time... Just to walk in and be informed of the above! I was so angry! I was told to come back tommorow the next day and it would be done at 11am! It is now the next day, I have paid for parking, an arrived at 11:49am! I am told it's still not ready.... I am waiting... It's 12:13pm so far!... Still waiting. Please note, that I changed the lenses for the basic done in an hour lenses. I am so frustrated... The time is ticking on the parking garage meter and I need to go to work.... Still waiting... 12:16pm... My kid has fallen asleep on counter... 12:17.... 12:18...12:25p...

    Great staff very friendly and helpful. Went in for a frame repair did it in less than 30 minutes.

When I entered, I was greeted by a very nice sales representative (Joyce I believe was her name). She was concise and informative when answering a few quick answers about their process for filling a prescription. However, when I asked for an estimate of a specific pair of Ray-Ban eyeglasses, the retail price she quoted me just for the frames was about 75% higher than the first shop I visited in Newport NJ! Given that her starting price was so high, I already knew where this was heading: me trying to haggle to get a reasonable price that I could have gotten by default elsewhere. While I get businesses pushing to make a profit, the markup in their prices was unreasonable. And I was surprised that a small shop would set their prices so high in an area that isn't full of rich people like gentrified Downtown JC. Although I would love to support local businesses and the location is convenient, right next to the Path Train Station, I'm not willing to pay double the price for it - I went elsewhere for my designer frames. Ps: Do a quick check online to see how much any designer frames you want cost on the open market before making a decision here. Thank me later.

Second, I've been wearing glasses since second grade so I'm used to the normal examination drill but this was way different in a good way. No eye drops to dilute my eyes and make walking home in the morning a nightmare. I stared into a machine and followed the prompts by the nurse. The machine took a 3D picture of my eye so the optometrist could really see how healthy my eyes truly was. After that, I did the lens test, read from a chart, then done. Fastest and most thorough exam I've ever done. I'm receiving my new glasses tomorrow so I will probably have to update this review. Other than that, I would still come back for the exam.

Maybe it's because it's a small local place, they only have one option for anything and it's not covered by insurance. I expected eye exam to be free because never have I ever paid for my eye exam since it's covered by my vision insurance and that's the only reason I would get one. They do give you prior notice but I would rather go to LensCrafter in the nearby mall for free eye exam. Overall, Dr. Tong was really nice, and receptionist was really friendly too. I just felt that Cardi B vibe from the receptionist and was little intimidated by her energy LOL but she is a really sweet person!

I live and work…read morein Newport and my old eye doctor is on the upper east side, so I decided to come here for convenience. I went to their website and requested an appt. during the week. They were able to get me in the next Saturday. My boyfriend went with me and they were actually able to get him seen by the eye doctor as well as a walk-in appt, so that was great. The waiting, however, was not. I already have a great pair of glasses, so my sole purpose was renewing my contact lens prescription. I went in thinking I'd be out by 2:30. I didn't even get seen until 2:30. Then, they told me I would have to pay for a contact lens fitting. Which was okay I guess since it was only $60.. but I wanted and ended up getting a prescription for the same exact contacts I've been in the last two years. So I definitely don't think the "fitting" was worth that. After an initial test, I had to wait about 15 more minutes to be seen by the doctor. Also annoying. Once I finally got in to see Dr. DeRienzo, everything was great. He was very pleasant and friendly and he saw both my boyfriend and myself one after the other in the same room. He knew his stuff and lucky for him the contacts I've been in are the ones with tons of promotional material all over the office, so he didn't even need to try to push another brand :) I also find out my insurance would cover $150 for contacts from Dr. DeRienzo, so I was happy they were able to check that for me. My insurance switched recently, and I always had to pay the full cost of contacts - $93 for a pack of 90! So I was pleasantly surprised and that made me feel better about paying extra for a contact fitting. A lot of these reviews are talking about how rude the staff is.. I'm not sure if they have the same two women working everyday, but the women working on Saturday seemed pretty pleasant in my opinion after striking up conversation. If I didn't have conversations with them (and by conversations, I don't mean nagging about when glasses might be ready or why contacts couldn't be ordered, etc.), I might have got the vibe other people are talking about, but coming from someone with RBFS, all it takes is to engage in conversation and then WOW you realize people are actually people! People are nicer if you're nice. People are more likely to help you if you're nice to them first. I'll be back again next year for my annual eye exam!

I have the physical receipt for the overpriced glasses I purchased at this exact location. The fact that they immediately resort to lying about a paying customer's existence is a massive red flag. 2. The Experience: As stated in my original review: Their business model relies on high-pressure sales tactics. The moment you decline their unnecessary upsells, their demeanor shifts from 'friendly' to openly sarcastic and hostile. 3. Harassment & Unprofessionalism (See Screenshot): After I posted an honest review on Google, the owner responded by publicly attacking my mental health, stating: 'Wow someone must have really hurt you for you to maliciously leave an anonymous review...' This unhinged response perfectly illustrates the toxic and unprofessional behavior I experienced in person. Instead of addressing the service failure, they gaslight and insult dissatisfied customers. 4. Formal Action: I am no longer just leaving a review. I am filing a formal complaint with the State Board of Optometry regarding their professional conduct, as well as the Division of Consumer Affairs regarding their deceptive business practices. To the owner: Do not reply with more gaslighting. I have my receipt, and I have screenshotted your abusive comments. Fix your behavior.
