Totally acceptable chain store* to pick up glasses/contacts, with the usual upsell gimmicks. So it had been forever and a day since I had a pair of new glasses, and having the worlds most super generic, yet incredibly comprehensive eye insurance (thanks hospital employee life), I was urged to visit this generic store..via the aforementioned generic insurance companies bland website. Are you sensing a trend yet. Not finding any independent optometrists in my new area, I let out an audible sigh and resigned myself to my new suburban fate. Literally every other chain eye store (there are quite a few of them around, all having the same name of course), had a few weeks wait except for this one so, I made an appointment. This of course was quickly cancelled due to a snow storm and rescheduled for two days later...wait do you think the other chain stores had open slots they were holding, and I might have been able to to go to an even closer one? oh well. I went in for my eye exam and glasses/contact fitting, which of course cost so much more than I remember: "Oh yes, your insurance covers "normal" contact fittings for 40$, however "disposable" contact fittings are 300 but don't worry, you get it for 182" - who uses glass contacts these days? This always has felt like a giant scam to me but again, whatever. Expensive script(s) in hand, I went up to the nice enough sales folks in the chain store who proceeded to find glasses to fit my giant head**. Pair secured, we sat down to check out and I legit saw the nice man's eyes go wide. "Oh what wonderful insurance you have". My glasses then went from ~180$ to ~300$ and now included blue light reflective ultraluxe x-ray vision addons...to which I asked "why" and had all of those fun features removed. I will miss the ability to see though walls, but let me tell you the pair I have work great at night none the less. So yea. Go in with the expectation that you will spend more than you planned on (amazing insurance or not) and that they will 100% try to upsell you on everything. If you're cool with that, then you can certainly get a nice a pair of glasses here and they will be ready to go in an hour or so. _____ *The Doc in the back ran an independent practice and was very very nice. **My mom legit calls me Mr. Met, and will send me GIFs of Mr. Met out of the blue with zero context and zero follow up. To make a long story short, I engaged the Better Business Bureau (BBB). Nothing like being talked down to by the front of the house manager. I went for an exam in July 2024, got called a few days later to pick up the glasses. Tried them on and I could not see out of the left eye but I thought to myself maybe it will get better in a couple of days. It didn't. I went back a couple of weeks later and told the same manager. He said to retake the eye exam again. The test went well and I saw the smallest line crystal clear. I thought at that point in time that they would replace the left lens. They didn't. The manager in the front of the house told me to take another 2 weeks that my eyes may adjust and if it didn't to come back and they would replace it. Stupid me, I Listened and left. Well, I had major foot surgery and could not go back for 2 months. I finally had the ability to go in . I seeked out the same manager and he told me he could not help me, he said the 30 day return policy elapsed. I told him I had foot surgery and could not drive and he did not care. I've been going here for many years now since I moved in the area. I get my eyeglasses and sunglasses done here and they've always done a great job. I wear progressives and my last one wasn't sitting too well and they replaced the lenses. Cleaning and adjustments, they do it too, no questions asked. Where do I start? First when I heard about the Meta Raybans I was over excited to buy a pair and counting on I needed my prescription I decided to go to my local Lens Crafters. I went there and they had no clue what I was talking about claiming they only sell the Ray Ban stories (the original smart glasses that came out 2 years ago). After pulling up Ray Bans website and showing them no you do sell them here, they convinced me I had to back to the store after they officially go on sale on October 17th. (later found out I should been able to preorder them with my prescription and they should have been ready by the 17th) So I show up on the 17th to buy the glasses with my prescription no issue at all I get told 5-7 business days they will be ready. So between 10/24 and 10/26. On 10/26 I call and ask if they came in yet and I was told "it's out for shipping we should have it today or tomorrow morning the latest" Great! One day behind no big deal, so I call the next day and I get the same answer. A little annoying but no big deal. This goes on for 6 days until I finally had enough and I go to the store and what does the lady there tell me. "Oh this is weird it appears your glasses were broken THREE days ago let me put a new order in" HOW DOES THIS HAPPEN? This is beyond unacceptable! I know it's silly but I was really looking forward to using these glasses to get video and photos of my kids on Halloween and I'm leaving for Las Vegas tomorrow thought it would have really cool for the Sphere as well but no that's ruined because someone didn't want to do their job read more

Very nice and fairly knowledgeable customer service staff. They Had computer problems but they worked it out . What normally would have taken a few hours was 30 minutes longer. My wife and I had our eyes examined and purchased new frames. The assortment was great from wild to conservative. Glasses become pricey when you add in all options. Thankfully we have great insurance and a flexible spending account. Overall a good experience. read more

The staff here is super friendly and will help you get the best deal on your glasses. They are patient and remember you when you come in the store. It is like "cheers" for eyeglasses lol. For years, my family were loyal, Lenscrafters customers. One 1/23/23, I had to receive an adjustment which resulted in a refund owed to me for $414.94 for which Lenscrafters has not/will not pay to date. I have a refund receipt from the Holmdel store, however, the monies were never paid back to the debit card. Upon contacting both store and corporate headquarters, I have been told for over 12 weeks 'the check is in the mail'. However, the check that is never received evidently has a UPS tracking number that cannot be produced? I had to assume because there is no check. The calls from their regional manager, Dominique, are never received although several times I was told she will contact me. Unreceived calls, incident reports filed to the corporate headquarters that are not responded to? I will admit Holmdel Lenscrafters has a very nice store staff that appears as confused about the situation as I am, but they are also unable to help. Is this how you treat customers? Not refunding monies although you have provided your customer a refund receipt goes against all normal, accepted US business practices. This has never happened to me before and the fact that this is a large corporation is bewildering. read more

Not willing to service glasses after warranty. Just want to sell you new. Not a great service. Lenses have come out of frame several times on these sunglasses I purchased 2 yrs ago. I was told they could not be repaired warranty was over ! Despite they have fixed them before. They told me I would get a text message to pick up my new glasses in a couple hours so I can get them the same way. I never got the text message and they decided to close when I specifically made sure I would get them the day off.... even showed up to the location and the lights were off when I was there since noon. I've bought 3 pairs of frames and prescriptions at this location over the past three or four years or so. Their sales and technicians are awesome, polite, knowledgeable. Yesterday I brought them a pair of vintage frames they were able to fill the prescription same day. I called ahead and then she fax the prescription over to them. Normally I'm the kind of person to avoid big box stores, but the team they have at this location is top-notch and they should be proud of the Services they provide. read more
