Go here for my prescription every other year and theyre overall great but todays phone interaction rubbed me the wrong way. My Mom doesnt have eye care insurance so I called and asked if she had a pair of glasses and her optometrist prescription, can they provide an estimate of cost to get lenses. The woman said "NO" and ask I asked No to what she said "NO" very rudely. She paused finally and I asked No to what, no estimate or no you dont make lenses with provided prescriptions. She then said I needed a prescription which I told her I had and she said bring it in. Seemed like I was cutting into her day- def not someone yall would want answering phones for you. read more

I brought in my frames for new lenses (stretched out, ill fitting frames). After my eye exam (very quick and easy), my glasses we're ready in a couple of days I was helped by Rio both times. She's very patient, knowledgeable, and has a great attitude. She adjusted my glasses after it kept sliding down my nose and it fits perfectly. Will be back for another pair. This review is for Dr. Judy Wong as I don't require glasses. I had an accident at work, something poked my eye and I needed an optometrist to check if my eye was injured in any way. Appointment was easy to get as they accept my insurance. Check in was smooth and they seemed pretty busy when I arrived, but the wait wasn't that long. Dr. Wong was patient and professional, and attended to all my concerns. They were especially good about cleaning the equipment before I had to put my face on it. read more

One of my nose pads broke, so I stopped by to have it fixed. Patty went far and beyond finding the right pads, and right screws. Took her 40 minutes and I got both nose pads replaced, better than the original ones. Free of charge! STOP AND READ PLEASE. If you have VSP they are NOT in network and they will charge you crazy amounts to get glasses. Take my example: I got premium transition lenses for my old frames, and 1 year insurance with taxes my bill was close to 300! At Eyewise Alameda which IS in VSP network charge just above 200 for new frames + premium lenses + 2 years included warranty!! Sooo much more for my money. I'm only giving this place 2 stars because the optometrist, Dr. Bui, was super friendly and professional. The lack of the other 3 stars comes from my experience today: I ordered a year's supply of contact lenses from Lenscrafters two days ago, spending about a total of $700+ (with the optometrist appt and the purchase of the contacts). After about an hour later, I get a call back stating that the employee who ordered my contacts made a mistake by sending the contacts to my house instead of this Lenscrafters location. Okay, perfectly fine, some would even prefer that. Two days pass, I get my package of the contacts, but what don't I have? My receipt. I called to tried to get a copy of it (obviously, I need something of a confirmation that I actually paid the $600+) and was met with "Oh, we're not allowed to send email receipts. But we can print it for you and you can come pick it up or we can mail it to you". EXCUSE ME? Because your employee made a mistake, my only options are to either put my health at risk again and take time out of my day or wait days/weeks to pick up a single piece of paper that initially belongs to me in the first place? (I mean, I'd personally like to create less mail so that I could do my part in assisting the US Postal Service with handling mail-in ballots.) How does that make sense? I mean, is it impossible to CTRL + P and select "Save as PDF" and send it over email? Does nobody in the store have an email address? I just don't understand how customers are expected to comply with this backwards system or to go out of their way to compensate for an EMPLOYEE'S MISTAKE? Ok. I give 5 stars for the optometrist. But the rest of the operations gets a 2. They never answer the phone. After calling 3 times, and no one answering the phones I decided to walk in to see if my glasses were ready however, they were not in, and the sales associate associate told me next time I should call first. Today, I went to pick them up after getting a phone call from them telling me that my glasses were ready. I just walked in and the store is randomly closed for an hour. Further the sales associates on the floor know very little about the frames or the glasses they are selling they do not help you fit them nor do they have any knowledge of the features or differences between the brands that they carry. I found that I knew more about the glasses than they did, and had to educate them on some of the glasses features. Overall, the service is very very lackluster. Aside from the optometrist, LensCrafters is pretty much like going to 7-Eleven and picking up a pair of sunglasses from the countertop display. read more

I was so disappointed with this location. I am going back for my 5 th time today. They have gotten my glasses prescription wrong every time. At one point Andy told me to just wear them and get used to them. I have been wearing them for 5 days and still see better without them. They also told me they would refund me 50.00 for all their mistakes but when I asked for it Andy said he never ok'd that. This is definitely the last time I will go there. I have been to this lens crafters for my eye exams 3 times. The staff are somewhat nice but it's pretty overpriced.

First time going through Lenscrafters to put a prescription on my frames. I went in on a Wednesday morning and went back that afternoon to pick them up. The service was great and ridiculously quick. I did spend a lot of time there in the morning getting the paperwork situated so plan accordingly. It's helpful to have a copy of your prescription, your ID, and an appointment just in case they're busy. read more

Unsafe covid environment. Had to walk out. I called the day before the eye exam to ask what the cost would be for an eye exam with my insurance and what safety precautions they were taking (I have a newborn at home and unfortunately my eye prescription expired). Right before seeing the doctor they told me it would be $145 instead of $45. When I asked why it's because the doctor is requiring an additional eye exam. I explained to them I don't want added exposure given my circumstances and they refused. Don't appreciate their attitude, unwillingness to even consult w the doctor to see what can be done. Another thing that made me walk out the door is that the waiting area w chairs was not spaced out 6 feet apart. Staff also not maintaining social distance with each other. Completely unacceptable. This review is based on the help of Annette in the Alameda South Shore Shopping Center. Annette spent time answering my questions, checking on different frames, lens, colors and style options. She explained everything, including what insurance covered and what the most economical options were for my determined budget. I ended up needing a frame from another location and she even verified availability for me. During the entire visit she was helpful, patient, friendly and kind. I really enjoyed working with her and was so impressed by her level of knowledge and customer service. Exemplary and I highly recommend you speak with HER at this location. On a side note.....Lenscrafters does accept VSP insurance it is considered "out of network". BUT......there is a $50 coupon on their website plus AAA discounts. read more

Before coming here, I read the most recent reviews and it made me very hesitant on coming. I'm blind as a bat and I need a new prescription, so I gave it a shot. I walked in and was pleasantly greeted by Rosario. I believe that is what her name was. She was very professional and went over every detail during the exam process. Every thing went very smooth and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Dr. P was awesome. I was taken back to the exam room and she showed me images that were taken earlier of my eyes. I had no idea what I was looking at but she explained it perfectly to me! All in all, she made me feel good about the health of my eyes. They have a wide selection of frames and sunglasses here. I went ahead and purchased a new pair of glasses along with a years supply of contacts. Their prices are very competitive! I will definitely come back next year when it's time for another check up! read more

I had a terrible experience there. It started when I made an appointment on the phone. I have a thick accent and a long last name. The manager (her name is Rio) actually made fun of me... when I went, she continued to be rude. And of top of it, they put the wrong lenses on my frame, so I had to wait two extra weeks. Awesome... Please don't seriously waste your time using this business. I had a simple request - I asked to get an estimate for lenses. The woman working there reviewed my eye prescription and asked me for all my personal information to put into the computer. Again, I told her I just wanted an estimate. She appeared to understand what I was saying. She then went back into asking me personal questions -who was my eye doctor, etc. I started getting frustrated. The man working there overheard me and came over. I again repeated I just wanted a quote for lenses. He looked at my prescription and told me I had single lenses and quoted me a price. I told him I had progressive lenses not singles. He couldn't even read my prescription correctly. I stood up at this point & could see the computer screen and she had taken my name from the prescription and had entered it into the computer. I got up and left. I am extremely disappointed in the service or the lack of service I received. I don't understand what happened to listening to the needs of the customer. In today's world giving just one more business your name, email, address, phone, etc, leaves you vulnerable once more. I can't imaging that Lens Crafters system isn't hackable. I have heard good things about them & now I wouldn't ever suggest them to anyone. Consumer beware. Get up and leave when businesses don't listen to your needs. read more

I am giving this a one-star rating based on one single salesperson who waited on me. Her name was Rio and she was very condescending and dismissive. I was there to have two eyeglass frames adjusted so they would fit better. She curtly adjusted one pair then told me the other pair did not look like there was a problem. I asked her to look at them again and she said she saw no problem with them then looked at me like I was an idiot. All the time no smile. I felt as if I was interrupting her day. On Wednesday, January 5, 2022 I visited the store in Alameda, CA, at 2202F South Shore Center to have my glasses (purchased there) adjusted. I was met by a rather unfriendly associate who asked me what I wanted and when I told her, she said she was the only one there and I could wait for approximately 30 minutes or come back later. I chose to wait while she fitted a customer for new glasses. After about 30 minutes she asked me to be seated and tell her what I wanted adjusted, to which I replied my glasses were too loose, esp. on the right side. She heated the frames relatively quickly, made some adjustment(s) and asked me to try them on again before she cleaned them. I reported that they felt even more loose. She argued that she hadn't done anything, so that wasn't possible. Then added that if they're too loose, they are just too loose. And then told me the problem was the frames were too big for my face. If was clear she didn't want to deal with adjusting my glasses. Perhaps upset that she was there alone. I simply left without further conversation with her. I have been to that store multiple times. I have had my glasses adjusted by 4 associates there. Victor and Raquel are courteous, professional and competent. The first associate I encountered was also rather brusque and impatient with the fitting/adjusting process, but whoever was working Wednesday morning this week was also rude and disrespectful! I will go back when I know that either Victor or Raquel is working because I still need that adjustment, but given LensCrafters reputation, I should think it would be important to have associates who treat customers with respect, care and concern! I am deeply disappointed! Again! I reported this after that first experience but got the blank stare (digitally speaking). I just thought maybe I'd try again. read more

Extremely rude receptionist. They seemed nice when my spouse and I came in to have our glasses ordered. The next day I realized Lens Crafters was outside my insurance network and I called over the phone to cancel my order that I made. The person I talked to was extremely rude and raised her voice about the cancellation. I told them I was certain about the cancellation and that I will come in the store in a bit to take my both me and my spouses prescription papers that we got done at Kaiser. When I got to the store, and asked for my prescription papers, they already shredded them.... Wow. Thanks for the inconvenience. We've been here a few times over the past several years and our experiences while not stellar have been acceptable. Our most recent experience however, was completely in acceptable. We were told that we didn't have insurance. And when I pressed that we do have VSP I was told that I'd have to submit a claim on my own - even though LensCrafters.com days they'll submit the claim for us even though they're now an out of network provider. The receptionist was such a pill. She turned SIX people away while I was there saying that their VSP plan couldn't be found. And she was beyond rude every time. After I called VSP myself it was clear she wasn't even searching. We went to the Southland Mall location and had an excellent experience. read more

What is worse is that the office called my insurance and pre-authorized my services even before they saw me. When I decided to cancel my appointment the new optometrist couldn't get my insurance to release the authorization. I called the office directly and was given the run around by a woman on the phone who actually raised her tone and made me feel like I was the idiot. This place is one of the worst. Stay away... I ordered my glasses here on 11/12 and they were to be ready by 11/21. I called on 11/25 and they said they weren't ready, things were taking longer because of the holiday. Um....I was supposed to have them on the 21st, the holiday was on the 24th. And why not have a ready date that anticipates any delay due to a holiday? That hasn't yet arrived yet? The robot on the phone kept saying the same thing, I mean I'm pretty sure it was a live person but they kept saying the same sentence over and over again. A manager is supposed to call me, still waiting. My friend also ordered prescription sunglasses on the same day. She was called earlier and told they were ready but when she got there she discovered they hadn't tinted them. They told her they'd mail them to her and she'd have them by 11/22. Giving misinformation about coverage, trying to charge for frames that were fully covered under the plan -- and blocking insurance by putting 'authorization' through in the system for services that were never provided. Consider this 2 1/2 stars. At the end of the experience, I have 2 pair of prescription glasses, which I like and appear to have the right correction. I brought my Rx in, did not get an exam here. Came here despite the reviews for some reason. Pro: large selection of frames at market, or lower, prices. Can take/leave as much service as you'd like regarding help with frame selection. They helped me get my insurance to pay as much as possible, plus had a 2nd pair sale which they let me use after buying the 1st pair with insurance. Con: no communication between co-workers, was not called when glasses ready (even though no less than 3 people assured me "We'll call you tomorrow!!"), when *I* called 2 days later feeling sure glasses would be ready, was told almost immediately "No, they're not ready", *I* pushed back and told her they SHOULD be ready, at which point she said "Hold on.. yeah they're ready". NO apology or explanation or even acknowledgement that they just screwed up, or that THEY never called ME. Weird stuff regarding frames I asked to be held, and bizarre errors during eye measurement to fit lenses to my eye positioning. I blame the management for not requiring that the most basic, normal, everday service be given to paying customers. I can totally understand all the 1 star reviews; be warned. read more

How I long for the day when I can wake up in the morning and not feel as if I'm looking at the world through scotch tape. Until that day, when I can afford to get my balls scraped, I have to settle for ball huggers and glasses. Balls meaning eyeballs, not the ones I developed living minutes from East Oakland. I was on a hunt to find some stylish new frames since the ones I have, and never wear, are those funky bendable ones from ions ago. Ones' that don't break, even when you throw them against the wall after learning your favorite mascara has been discontinued. I was greeted quickly when I entered, and within a few moments I was being helped by this cute little Asian lady with a big smile. She was so friendly and nice that I really wanted to buy my glasses from her, but sadly couldn't find a pair that I liked. Actually, I found a pair or two I liked, just none that liked me. I find it difficult to find cute, yet comfy, glasses since I have such huge high cheekbones. See photo. I hate when glasses touch the top of my cheeks.
