Their estimates consistently come in lower than the "other guys", and they do great work. On my most recent body repair, they were really great about working with me about my options in relation to my budget. And when I went to get my truck back, I was surprised to discover that they had thrown in a little extra work to fix a minor boo-boo that I had chosen not to repair because of cost. They didn't even charge me for it. Wendy in particular was good about communicating all the necessary details with me. I have had yet another great experience with Deering. We learned a lesson this year. A few years ago we finally decided to buy a snowblower. Well as a…read moreresult of some light snowfall winters the past few years and some great neighbors that have sometimes cleared our snowy driveway while we were away or at work, we have only used our snowblower a couple of times. As we were preparing for this season our snowblower wouldn't start. With the referral from a local hardware shop, we found a great gentleman to fix our snowblower. He recommended that we use non oxygenated gas for our snowblower and lawnmower. The non oxygenated gas will last longer and not breakdown as quickly as regular gas. So we headed over to Duffy's which is just a few minutes from our house. They were actually closed however you can pay at the pump which is what we usually do. I noticed that not only do they have non oxygenated gas, but also racing fuel, do car repairs and have a ladies day. Yes a ladies day on Tuesdays. We are fans of the local places and family owned places and Duffy's is that type of place. Since this is our only visit so far, couldn't quite give them 5 stars. We'll be back again and hopefully check them out for some repairs, but hopefully not too soon with the car repairs.

I used NAPA Synthetic 5W20 oil and NAPA gold filters. I found out they were a NAPA service provider and I didn't need to bring my own oil, they already were using it. GREAT! Two oil changed later I was reading the invoice and they used 0W20. They tried to argue they are interchangeable oils and argued with me when I stated they are definitely not, especially on my car. I was pretty animate they stuck with the 5W20. I changed the oil myself and put the right oil in. They offered but I already changed it out after they tried to argue with me about it. I'm not going to argue residual film and sheer durability here, but they are quite different oils. I have a Hyundai Theta II 2.4L GDI engine that is known for its rod bearing failures. Taking a chance on switching oils that I've never used in nearly 100,000 miles and My background gives me quite a bit of insight into motor oils. This created a danger to my engine I was not willing to risk. I don't have a few thousand dollars laying around for a new engine. All that said. I don't think they are incompetent, I think they have wrong information and arguing with a customer about what oil they want in their own car was probably a bad idea. I had problems trusting mechanics, a lot of hacks out there that have no business working on cars. These are not those mechanics. I believe they are competent and the mechanic is skilled, just misinformed and bull headed. Now I am back to doing it myself because of this experience. Love ya guys, but do not argue with a customer about what oils they prefer. They have their reasons. And I'd advise never putting 0W20 oil in any vehicle that recommends 5W20 again.

On my way home I noticed the time and thought I would pop in to ask for an estimate appointment. I entered the office to owner Joe & told him what I would be requesting. Joe kindly suggested we step outside and estimate the damage. I showed him the few small defects; he noted that the headlight placement had been damaged and that likely all repairs would be roughly $2100. I asked if they did loaner cars during the repair? They do not, but if it's the other persons insurance they should allow a rental car. I discussed the "Selected Service Shops" the insurance had suggested. He stated that those places are usually commission based and that Wayne-Val is just him, his wife & brother-in-law compared to larger shops that are 20+ associates. I feel confident in leaving my vehicle w Wayne-Val and will do another yelp/update this one once I have actually had my vehicle repaired. I appreciated that Joe quoted me a realistic 19 February as what I'd be looking at for a service date. I mostly appreciated that Joe told me some of the questions that the insurance may ask, such as: do I approve used parts? He said I don't have to say yes and he wouldn't recommend used parts and it could only save insurance a couple hundred dollars. Thanks Wayne-Val for a wonderful and knowledgeable customer service experience!
