We bought a Meritage new home in Province, Maricopa Az. Province is a 55+ community. There were…read moremany people including me who were unsatisfied with the quality of the build and appliances, flooring etc. We bought a house in the $350K range. They put the cheapest appliances, tile, carpet, cabinets, lighting, countertops and faucets that they could find in the houses in our price range. Very disappointing. The gas stoves are the absolute cheapest on the market. The broiler is at the bottom where a drawer usually is so elderly people have to get down on the floor to use the broiler, and the oven is not self cleaning so again older people are expected to get on their knees or bend over to manually clean the oven with oven cleaner! We traded ours in at an appliance store and they told us that particular model is the absolute cheapest stove you can buy. No pull out shelves either so we had to pay a company to install them or I would be bending over to reach for things in the back! We couldn't choose anything as they shut down the design center and everything was already chosen for each house. We were given only a couple of package options. The tile is again cheap 15" square tile not 18" or 20" that most builders are putting in houses today and then they tried to switch it to 12" tile without telling me but I caught them as they were laying it and made them give me the 15" tile I was supposed to get! I'm not thrilled with 15" but 12"? I didn't even think they made 12" tile anymore! I was told they upgrade only one thing. Either you get nice faucets and a cheap washer/dryer or you get the cheapest faucets and upgraded washer/dryer. Many people had issues with the quality of the actual build also. In my area a drainage problem with standing water after every heavy rainfall and if you walk in the yard you sink into mud. I would never buy another Meritage Home

We love that you can choose from their MULTIPLE upgrade packages (flooring, cabinets and countertops) and design your home the way you want it with their upgraded multiple rooms and features you can pick from. We can't wait to get the keys to move in. The building process right now is a little long but so worth the wait!! We had the pleasure of having a gentleman named Doug help us with all of our needs and answered any questions we had. He's been wonderful with updates on the property and how things are coming along with the building process. We are so happy to have found them as first time home buyers. The houses have tankless water heaters and are energy efficient homes. They have appliances included with the home and they are great brands. We were able to also install extra ceiling fan ports on the back patio for a decent price. We re so excited for the home to be finished. His preferred lender/financial (his wife Nicole) is lazy and uneducated. Neither have any buisness working in the industry. I was told by Mark to "Go F#$k myself" when my wife and I switched lenders due to lack of communication and performance on his wife Nicole's part. We we're sent 2 sets of disclosures that appeared to be fraudulent, and based on tge reaction we received they quite possibly we're. We have Excellent credit, and no trouble qualifying. We we're treated poorly as a result of going with a better more competent lender. The whole thing reaked of a shady back-door deal and I called them out on it. The fact are that lending laws exist for this very reason. When I notified his agent Jill, she said what she had to(to get me off the phone), but ultimately did nothing about it. My advice is to keep far away from this whole operation.

They rebuilt our flood damaged home and performed many remodeling upgrades at the same time. They offered sensible solutions and worked around our busy schedules. Calls were returned promptly and questions answered always. All of their subcontractors were people they had worked with for many years and were clean-cut, articulate craftsmen. They cleaned up after every days work and kept us up to date on progress. When we made changes along the way, they took it in stride and offered options to best achieve our goals. Our home was built in 1959 and had unique lath and plaster drywall. The materials are no longer available, but in order to retain the original quality of the home, they found a method that was similar enough to look the same and have the same sound when I did the "knock test". They did many extras, like painting the front sidewalk-"it just didn't look right all chipped up" and made a new side gate as well- at no added charge- because it was the right thing to do. They understood what we were trying to do- bring the house back to original quality and remodel it for sale. To give you an idea of what kind of guys thy are, on the weekends, they volunteer at Habitat for Humanity and use their skills to built homes for the disadvantaged in the Valley. Good souls. Jeff navigated us through a maze of options to get our electric upgraded without kicking us into a higher permit level that would have resulted in us having to lower windows for egress- at an estimated $26k. Instead, they offered legal, ethical alternatives that got the goals achieved within our budget. They know the ins and outs of the business and use it to YOUR advantage. True professionals. I'm an engineer, so I'm a detail person by nature, and BHB left no details missed. Their quality is top notch as well, and they came in below our insurance estimate. I highly recommend them for jobs big and small. Good people.
