If you are looking for a new home please stay away from Meritage Homes. They are an Arizona track builder and have a lot of Design Flaws. You have to fight hard to have anything fixed. We bought a Meritage new home in Province, Maricopa Az. Province is a 55+ community. There were many people including me who were unsatisfied with the quality of the build and appliances, flooring etc. We bought a house in the $350K range. They put the cheapest appliances, tile, carpet, cabinets, lighting, countertops and faucets that they could find in the houses in our price range. Very disappointing. The gas stoves are the absolute cheapest on the market. The broiler is at the bottom where a drawer usually is so elderly people have to get down on the floor to use the broiler, and the oven is not self cleaning so again older people are expected to get on their knees or bend over to manually clean the oven with oven cleaner! We traded ours in at an appliance store and they told us that particular model is the absolute cheapest stove you can buy. No pull out shelves either so we had to pay a company to install them or I would be bending over to reach for things in the back! We couldn't choose anything as they shut down the design center and everything was already chosen for each house. We were given only a couple of package options. The tile is again cheap 15" square tile not 18" or 20" that most builders are putting in houses today and then they tried to switch it to 12" tile without telling me but I caught them as they were laying it and made them give me the 15" tile I was supposed to get! I'm not thrilled with 15" but 12"? I didn't even think they made 12" tile anymore! I was told they upgrade only one thing. Either you get nice faucets and a cheap washer/dryer or you get the cheapest faucets and upgraded washer/dryer. Many people had issues with the quality of the actual build also. In my area a drainage problem with standing water after every heavy rainfall and if you walk in the yard you sink into mud. I would never buy another Meritage Home read more

When dealing with Meritage, it is important to really stop and READ their contract...it has words that will bite you....for example: "Neither the Initial Deposit nor the Additional Deposit will be placed in a neutral escrow account. Buyer assumes the risk of losing the Initial Deposit and any Additional Deposit if Meritage is unable or unwilling to perform under the terms of the contract." Trust me, I am fighting for my life to get back my deposit after they sold the home I had contracted for to a third party for more money. Keeping old peoples deposits is not what I would all a fair, reasonable and nice company to do business with. I suggest you look at home builders Like Shea Homes, which were fantastic. I really thought Meritage would be the same, but turns out, they are really hard to deal with and have no compassion for the elderly. Buyer Beware when dealing with Meritage.... and what every you do, make the deposit refundable if they cancel the contract.....get lawyer if you want to deal with Meritage..... read more

Hello my Facebook Family and friends. For those of you who have been following my post regarding our quote "new"build Meritage Home That Shauna Mullen and I Bought Brand New a little over a year ago! It is falling apart around us and I am talking from the roof tile to the AC our cracking and separating drywall, separating backsplash from granite countertops,baseboards separating from hardwood floors, doors twisting and have had to be adjusted so many times the door guy said we have to rehang all the doors! Our studs are bulging out of our walls you can count the joist by looking at them pushing down on our ceilings. With all of your help sharing our posts last time we at least got a phone call from corporate, they don't like noise and negative posts on their Facebook, Twitter, instagram pages! So they sent out a construction forensic Engineer. I video tape the whole thing and my God I think it scared this poor lady.she first brought out a four foot soils prob and started pushing it into our property,expecting 4 to 8 inches of sink! She fell to her knees and screamed. Ahhh!!!! As the earth swallowed the whole four feet! She exclaimed "wow, I sure wasn't ready for that. She proceeds to walk the entire property burying the whole four feet it many, dozens of places. So she said I cannot have a copy of the final report of course because Meritage Homes is their Client so they will keep it from us! Well that's fine because we have all of you and I videotaped the whole test. This company says one thing and then does another. Always makes decisions that benefit them and screws the homeowner. Wouldn't trust this company again. Find a responsible home builder...... not this one. read more
