I knew my wisdom teeth needed to come out as they were causing me pain, so I knew I needed to pick a new dentist. I chose Atlantic Family Dental based on positive reviews online. All of the nerves instantly went away when his receptionist Julie greeted me upon arrival, she's always smiling and super friendly. She answered my insurance questions and introduced me to Dr. Nesvold. He (along with his dental assistant Kathy) spent about an hour with me the first appointment and we agreed to do a thorough cleaning at a later date. That appointment went smoothly and they took extra special care knowing I'm incredibly sensitive to pain (I'm a bit of a baby). He referred me to an oral surgeon in the area (Dr. De Tolla in Portsmouth- also fantastic) for wisdom teeth removal. I didn't meet his hygienist, Cheryl, until a few visits later but she's just as friendly and helpful as everyone else there! I've now been going there for several years and I can't say enough good things. I've now converted a sister and my boyfriend over to the office and plan to keep recommending Atlantic Family Dental to friends and family.

Dr. Nesvold has a dental assistant help out with the x-rays, charting, and dental procedures (fillings). There are no paper charts here! All of the dental records (x-rays, charts) are stored digitally by computer. Above the dental chair is a flat panel monitor which shows your chart, xrays, and digital images of your teeth and gums. Previously, I couldn't see the back of my mouth at my former dentists. Cool fish screensaver on the monitor!! It's definitely worth the drive from the Merrimack Valley to the Seacoast for my dental needs!! My supervisor now goes to Dr. Nesvold for his dental needs too!!

GETTING DENTURES FROM THIS DENTIST IS A NIGHTMARE…read more Last year, in August 2025, I found this dentist online and the reviews looked great. I called to make an appointment for a cleaning and to get partial dentures for my top and bottom teeth, and I agreed to move forward. By the end of September, the dentures were ready. But when I tried them, they didn't fit at all, especially the bottom ones. The dentist told me to try them for a week and come back if they still didn't fit. After a week, I went back because they were painful to put in and take out. The dentist ASSURED me a new set would be made at no extra cost. But then... nothing. I waited until December and called, they said the doctor would call me. A week later, I called again and got the same response: "The doctor will call you back." Weeks went by, and still no one contacted me. I called multiple times, and every time, I received the same empty promise. I've already paid $1,500 out of pocket, and my insurance covered $3,000. And now, in January 2026, I STILL don't have my dentures, and no one has reached out. I am beyond frustrated and do NOT recommend this place.

Instead of addressing this my first appointment was in actuality a new patient appointment with a cleaning which would have been fine had the pain been addressed at all . The pain was from an abscess and I had to be re-seen the next day for an emergency appointment because it was ignored at the first visit despite my telling the dentist and the hygienist..... it was clear on the x-rays that I received a dental plan from one dentist and at the next appointment a brand new one. This new dentist has a great bedside manner however his skills are yet to be determined and I would not feel comfortable with any complicated extractions or root work. Another small concern is that I was offered a package which included a cleaning yet I was charged not only for the intro patient package but also for the cleaning which again was supposed to be included in the initial package .

0/10, terrible staff and dentist that makes your teeth worse than before…read more I saw Dr T for a 3/4 crown and a filling and the whole time I was having the procedure the dental assistant was flirting with him. I literally felt like a prop. I was barely acknowledged unless a direction was being given (of course when I complained to the office manager, she told me that he doesn't remember that, which why would he admit to it anyway, the dental assistant was literally half his age). AND, it's only been a few months and that tooth is more symptomatic than it was before he put the crown in and it feels like I'm going to rip it off my tooth when I floss. Now I have to go pay several hundred dollars more to have another dentist fix my crown Additionally, I received a couple cleanings there, one of my hygienists was absolutely lovely but I've just learned that she no longer works there (happy for her!), the other one assured me that getting a cleaning every 3 months would be covered by my insurance, even double checked with the front desk and brought me an printout to prove that it would be covered. Well it wasn't. So I was stuck with an over $100 balance even after my copay than they threatened to send to collections. I deeply regret ever stepping foot into this practice. When I first met Dr. Winship at Tufts he was as now, a very polite and professional individual. He takes the time to get to know you and your oral care needs. At Tufts he assisted in installing 2 implants and making me a new crown. All went flawless. A great experience at Tufts and with Dr. Winship. I now needed some cosmetic work on my front teeth. I contacted Dr.Winship and he informed me not only is he attending graduate school at Tufts he is now working Saturday's at Puredontics with Dr. Posada. Living in Nashua it's a bit of a drive to Portsmouth but with the great experiences I've been having with Dr. Winship I decided it's worth the drive. From the time the elevator doors opened and I entered the office I just knew it was going to be a great visit. A very clean and modern facility with all modern equipment. After discussing what needed to be done and before the procedure began Dr. Winship applied coconut oil to my lips to prevent any drying/chapping during my procedure. WOW! Never in my 60 years of going to the dentist has anyone ever done that. I was so impressed with having Dr. Posada assist Dr. Winship during my procedure. I witnessed the equipment getting wiped down between patients. Most importantly, was the professionalism and kindness of the hygienists and Dr. Posada. My daughter and I both felt very comfortable with the hygienist - she explained things very well and spoke to my daughter instead of me when appropriate. Dr. Posada addressed my concerns thoroughly.
