This place is a laid back pub. You have to order at the bar and seat yourself. There are a lot of televisions, which makes it a good place to eat and catch a game. I'm not impressed with the food. I had the tri tip sandwich which was mostly bread. The meat was chewy and fatty. My husband had the pastrami sandwich which was also mostly bread. I've had sandwiches from Sequoia with more meat inside! I'd only come back if I were having drinks. Defiantly not a place I would dine at. *Important: If you plan on watching Sunday night football, you should know that this place closes early and you will probably be forced to miss the ending of your game. Lengthwise: The Pub seem to have finally broken the spell cast on this building. Titled Kilt went out in a blaze of police sirens and Bobby Jack's went out with a whimper. Although Lengthwise Brewing has been a Bakersfield staple for almost twenty years, I can say that I wasn't a big fan of theirs until recently. The brewmasters at Lengthwise jumped onto the IPA train and I bought a ticket. The Zeus Imperial Ale and the Ale Ya Double IPA quickly became my favorites. In addition to beer, Lengthwise roasts its own coffee. I like the Brazilian Blend, but the Guatemalan seems to be the more popular one since it's rarely in stock. The restaurant itself is rarely ever packed unless there is a band playing, but business seems to be steady. The outdoor seating is great on a nice spring evening. The menu consists of typical pub fare, but I tend to stick to the chicken strips and stinky fries. The chicken strips have a nice flakey crust and are actual chunks of chicken, not the processed Tyson strips you tend to find at most pubs. The stinky fries have a nice, but not overwhelming coating of melted Gorgonzola cheese and chunks of garlic. I highly recommend them! read more

Delicious Zeus Imperial to start, followed up with Cowbell Pale Ale - recommended by Jason - crisp, clean and freshening the palate. This place is a revelation. It's an outlet for their brewery, and serves food, too. Not sampled, but the eating customers looked happy. Cyber Beer Bully Ale is a long story, but a delish sample to taste. Best of the 80's music on tap, soothing yet oddly catalytic during a mid winter Saturday afternoon visit. Took me a while to find it, but I'll be back. read more

I really enjoy heading into Lengthwise. They have a good selection of brews and bar food. I am always greeted in a very friendly manner and the staff is just great. Sophie is my favorite bar tender. My only complaint is that it seems hot in the building sometimes. But the cold beer more than makes up for it. read more

My GF and I were staying one night in Bakersfield so I look for a casual place for some good chow. The Lengthwise Pub looked and sounded like a fun place. I was expecting a little rougher place; it being a brew pub. I was very wrong. There were three generation families with infants dining at this place. It was a pleasant surprise. The bacon cheeseburger was a hit with me as were the sweet potato fries. My GF enjoyed her chicken strips but thought that they weren't anything special. The extra order of onion rings went pretty quick between us; even though the breading was a little too thick and hard for me. Lots of sports on the abundant TV's and good brews too. Also got a half order of normal fries to munch on something at the bar. Would def come back here for different beers. Great Bar Food and Awesome Service!!!! My favorite pub!!! One of the really cool things with Lengthwise is the menu although hasn't really changed much and the food is good, you can pretty much make any you want. This evening I decided to make up my version of killer fires. So the base was stinky fries, topped with mac-n-cheese, topped with the pulled pork with onions and bbq sauce. Turned out pretty dang good. We even had a visit from the chef to make sure he was preparing the order correctly. Jason has a great crew working at this location. This is a great hang-out spot.! I've usually been for dinner, but I recently discovered it for lunch.. We were in & out within the hour. I can't comment on the beer because we..er.. didn't have any due to it being during work hours. We did, however, have an awesome lunch. My friend and I split the Chili Mac Burger.. It's a huge burger with bacon, mac-n-cheese, & chili.. Holy cow! I couldn't even finish my half! It was pretty good. Too much for one person, unless you have that kind of appetite. Have always loved it but decided to just start enjoying it other places than their Pub They have an unwritten rule (no signs, mixed responses) to dogs on their outside patios. Come on really? A cool brewery in CA with outdoor patios wont allow dogs. Whats the deal with that? Stopped by this location yesterday. Entered patio from outside with my wife and our dog. Nobody on patio....not one single person. I go in to order some of that outstanding beer. But instead of a nice cold brew I got a cold, mean, angry bartender that asks me to leave since we had a dog on the patio. Yup that same patio that had nobody on it except for us. Lengthwise The Pub on Calloway is my favorite lengthwise location out of all three! The beer is the best around, especially the Octoberfest and the Snake Bite which is the porter and pear cider. The quality of the food is always perfect every-time of the day no matter what I get it's perfect and what I'm looking for! My favorite food is the tri tip tacos or the chili dog but everything is super great! Jason is the GM at the location and he really has the place in great shape and takes care of everyone and makes you feel at home! I'm a regular and I plan to keep it that way! I live in NW. it's either fried or Mexican which I love and have had many times. but we are trying support our local restaurant guys. Let me recommend the Chicken Cesar Salad. I like this place. I rarely go out to drink in pubs and bars but one day I decided to go after lunch. Now I know where to go to get delicious fish n chips. For me one tarter sauce is not enough so I always order an extra one. Nice environment and decor. It wasn't crowded when I was there ( plus I hate crowds ) and the employees are great. So if it's your 1st time here, you have to order your food to the bartender. I enjoyed my experience here. read more

Nice location with good parking. The inside is spacious and the bathrooms were clean. Booths are large and it's a clean place. I ordered the chicken strips. The fries were really good and seasoned well, but the chicken strips themselves were rubbery and tasted like freezer burn. The batter that they use on them is interesting. Not bad, just different. I asked for chili cheese fries no raw onion the put it on no problem people make mistakes my plate was full so what did they do they took it back scraped off the first layer of fries and threw cheese on top and gave me back the plate how I know this because the lazy cook in the back did not remove all the onions. I love this place, what can I say. Great beer. I'm obsessed with the Ale Ya. It's my favorite beer hands down. I like their other beers too. Food is good...messy but hey, who cares about that. Came her with a friend the other day. The place was almost empty. Since it was almost noon, I ordered a craft beer with my lunch and had a seat. The bartender was very nice and fast. The food came out in decent time, but it was completely bland. I ordered the fish and chips. The beer was fantastic. The fish and chips were a complete disappointment. If they want to draw in more of a lunch crowd, I think the kitchen needs to step up their game. There are too many wonderful places in town for lunch, so I don't think I'll be back. The fish had no taste, the batter was the same and the fries were below average. The place is clean and very nice inside. The staff was nice too. I just didn't think the food was much to write about . Very Meh. Good beer though for us day drinkers. read more

I called in a large take out order for a family event. The server taking my order was very friendly and patient as I gave the details of what everyone wanted and I was able to place the order hours ahead of when I needed to pick up without issue. Upon arriving, the staff were very friendly and I was able to get the growlers from my order while the rest of my order was being finished (I was early). There was a little confusion on which counter I needed to go to to pick up the order, but the staff were helpful when approached. The server who put our order together as well as the cook were really helpful in making sure we had all the sauces and other items needed and even helped carry the order out to my car. The food, even after the drive home, was fresh, hot, and delicious! Their pricing is reasonable for what you get and quite delicious. We have visited the restaurant before and enjoyed eating in as well. But I will now add them to my list of awesome take-out places to go for dinner as well! read more

The food and beer are great, of course. They have the same menu right now as the original Lengthwise, but they have a ton more guest beers. I usually order the fish tacos and the chicken & artichoke salad. The focaccia bread on the burgers and sandwiches are amazing. Stinky fries are a must. Try the deep fried twinkies too - it sounds horrible but it's pretty amazing, like eating french toast. I've also tried their root beer float recently, it's fantastic. All of their beers are good, the porter is my favorite. In addition to all of the Lengthwise brews, they have many other guest beers. Definitely try the Mammoth Brewing Co. Double Nut Brown, it is fantastic. I hope they keep that on tap. The interior of the place is cool, but they could add some more decor - to look like their brewery location. EDIT: After a few months of going here almost weekly, I still love it but have to remove a star for a few reasons: 1) Beer prices. I've been to many a brewery, and usually a beer is about 3-4 bucks. Here they are $5. And you cannot order a pitcher. Guest beers are $6, even the crappy ones. So on that note, I usually limit myself to 2 beers, just because of the prices. A happy hour would be nice. 2) Menu items. I have tried most of their food and have loved everything. My only gripe is that I thought the Pub was going to add some different menu items, like pizza. They should at least have a few daily specials. I think if they changed the above items they would get more business. People like specials. And happy hours! read more
