Good food lots for your money. Mostly fried a few other options like baked not that great but the fried is ok and huge portions. They also have all you can eat fried shrimp or clams. But honestly a regular plate is usually more than enough for most. It comes with a mini coleslaw fries and a few great onion rings. My husband says the burger is good too and the cheesesteak rocks. We have lived in Ocala for 26 years and just this past week decided to visit this place. It is a bit of a drive from Ocala, but definitely worth it. I ordered clams and shrimp which came with onion rings, cole slaw and French fries. 12.99 including a drink My husband ordered the same meal except with the fish. The clams were out of this world! The coating was perfect and there was plenty of tender clam...those of you who know NE clams will get this comment. It is a small place, but he servers were attentive and very friendly. Afterwards we visited the ice cream shop next door--it sells Hershey's ice cream. The Almond Joy ice cream was delicious. We will be back to both places. My best friend suggested Lena's, as he had been going for years...unfortunately, those years do not include the May to Oct seasonal "shutdown" Lena's practices...and things change. Personally, another 8 miles down US40 brings you to Astor, FL and "The Essex" seafood restaurant...no comparison. Lena's was just OK, and the micro-cup of coleslaw was her downfall...I HATE when they bring you one of those 2oz plastic condiment cups and call it a side! This is the BEST New England Seafood you can get in FL (and they also have their original location In Salisbury MA) and its wonderful there too! BUT when I was living in Ocala, up until a couple of weeks ago, this was MY FAVE place! I love their Haddock, the FISH (or clam) chowder, and the ONION RINGS! Beware tho, if you want their YUMMIEST Onion rings (LIKE they do them up in the MA location) you need to ask for them: "Mealed' (which is their cornmeal coating).....vs. their thick battered rings that they serve in their FL location. They have no problem making them up that way, they did it for me, and inevitably, someone would see mine (all thin and crisp) and ask what i was eating! So they do make them for quit e a lot of people now! And if you are a New Englander, or you have been to New England, you may know we are known for our clams. i don't like them, but they do serve them here.....and ppl love them! If you go here, PLEASE....tell them Missy says hi (and that I SENT YOU) and give Karen, Dori, Jen and all the gals my love! I miss them (and now that I'm in CT, I'm at least only 2 hours away from their original location....which i grew up with in the 70's (they have been around since 1958 I think......My grandparents used to take my mom and her siblings there as well! How do you describe this place? Let's see I'll drive an hour and a halve just to eat the fried clams. That should be enough but it isn't Lena's is frozen and time, back in the days where fish camps dotted Hwy 40, and people were simple. Lena's is the one simple good thing I can still recall from my childhood. The first time I ate their we were camping in the Ocala Forest and a Raccoon got in our food, it was the first place we saw that was open on Hwy 40. It was love at first bite! If you want a no frills good meal go to Lena's oder the fish platter with onion rigs and some clam strips for the road you won't be disappointed and you'll be planning you next trip to the Ocala Forest. Just a funky roadside mom and pop kind of place place in rural Florida. I suspect most of the patrons were locals. We walked in the door and found a waitress swing dancing with a 10 year old girl. Nice atmosphere with friendly people. I had fish tacos for $6, and my wife had a fish and clam special for $12. Generous portions of expertly fried seafood which wasn't the least bit greasy. I hope to come here again. They deserve at least 4.5 stars, so I'll give five in hopes of bumping them up a notch. read more

I am wishing I hadn't found this place, or rather my scale is. The first time I went I had a combo basket with shrimp and clam strips. So delicious yet so much food I couldn't finish it all. Let me say if you finish your plate/basket and are still hungry, you should give some serious thought as to how much you are consuming at meals. This is a place you likely won't leave hungry. Not only do they give you an ample amount of your seafood but they also pile on the fries, onion rings (yeah you don't have to make the hard decision about which to order- Lena's gets it and gives you both), a bit of coleslaw and a roll to boot. The second visit I just got the clam strips and my meal was every bit as delicious as the first visit. Thankfully they close over the summer so perhaps I'll have time to get my body in shape before they return in October. read more

Lena's is a Northern New England style Clam Shack with excellent food served in picnic style in plastic baskets with plastic utensils. So what? The food is excellent. We had fried clams and baked scallops. The food was just as good as we get in Maine and New Hampshire and the portions were larger, and I only had the 1/2 portion on the recommendation of Karen, our waitress. The half portion was plenty for me. Cole slaw was a disappointing but I didn't come for the cole slaw. We will definitely be back and recommend it to all our New England friends. read more

My wife and I have traveled to Lena's seafood restaurant on Route 40. If you like seafood and a abundances of seafood this is the place to be. Not much to look. But makes up In spades the quality and quantity of their seafood. My wife and I have been there several times and each time we've had a good meal. The staff was helpful, friendly and they have a good sense of humor. You won't leave Lena's hungry. And of course right next-door is there desert oasis. All kinds of delicious ice cream concoctions. We visited this place after camping at Juniper Springs. We were hoping to have nice fish and shrimp. We went with seafood chowder and a full Flounder meal which was served with fries, onion rings and coleslaw. Chowder was okay. Onion rings and fries were so greasy it made me feel nauseated. Fried fish was very bland and coleslaw was not fresh. I would easily give this place a miss if there is a subway near by! Nevertheless, the staff was extremely friendly and prompt. This was the worst meal I've ever eaten. The chowder was thin, runny and all it had was potatoes no clams. The broiled Haddock was poached in foil. No seasoning and no taste. My husband had broiled bay scallops also poached in foil. No seasoning no taste. The onion rings are all grease and no flavor. They give you a 2 ounce cup of coleslaw on the side with a baked potato. It's all served on styrofoam plates, bowls and cups with plastic utensils. It was disgusting. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone. read more

My lunch was $20 and not worth half that price. The seafood was overly breaded and just tiny morsels inside the breading. I have been waiting all Summer for them to open. Yesterday, my sister and I finally got to go. Very disappointed. There wasn't any flavor to their normally fantastic onion rings. The shrimp and the clams were very good. However, the fish was terrible. Last season I couldn't get enough of their fish sandwich. This time, I wish I hadn't ordered it for my aunt. Two skinny strips on a roll that was no better than a hamburger bun. We ordered all you can eat for $13.99 and didn't eat any of the onion rings because they weren't good. Eaten here several times. I like the food--it's lightly battered and fried fast (it was never greasy to me.) I know seafood is not cheap and these menu items are priced about the same as other places around, but I just feel like I don't want to pay these prices while eating it on paper and plastic with plastic utensils. I'd rather the prices were 50 cents an item higher and they use the money to have a dishwasher and real plates and silverware. It wouldn't have to be fancy--just something other than the boardwalk-style take-it-and-eat-it paper and plastic stuff. I won't knock the food or the service since it has always been good.
