Now I've been to Lena's three times. The second time I had the haddock sandwich. Lightly breaded and cooked perfectly. Today I wanted more fish and no bread so I opted for the full haddock dinner. Again, scrumptious. Three generous pieces of fish. Sooo good! They close for the summer on July 4th, so hurry in! read more

We were in town paddling at Silver Springs and staying in a near by Airbnb driving past this busy restaurant. We had a group of 19 with us and the service was top notch. The food was just as good so much that many of us took some home if that tells ya it was good and wasting none !! This is is a quite little roadside restaurant, with great friendly people. They have a variety of tasty items on the menu, we got the shrimp Poboy, and an all you can eat seafood basket mix-and-match, different types of seafood and sides. Everything was delicious. Mediocre. Not bad, not great. Tasted like fast food... Food was out in about 2 minutes... so it obviously was not fresh. A bit greasy, leaving the fish & fries a little soggy. No veggies or optional sides. You get fries, onion rings (two in the 1/2 portion) & coleslaw (tiny). No real cups or dishes... so... yeah... it also comes out like fast food. Styrofoam, plastic fork & basket. The only thing NOT fast food was the price. $15 for 1/2 portion (about the size of kids meal). It's just like someone transported an old roadside New England fried seafood place smack in the middle of the Ocala forest. The clam chowder was spot on. I was a big fan of the clam cakes that looked like bits of funnel cakes, and had plenty of clams inside. My husband really enjoyed his fried clams with bellies. My broiled haddock was a little too strong, but the seasoned mayo made it ok. The onion rings were perfect. We also splurged, calorie wise, and ordered milk shakes. Yum. Prices were VERY reasonable, and quantities large...don't get a full plate unless you have an enormous appetite or want lots of leftovers! Service is friendly. Obviously a hit with locals. The clam chowder was very thin with only a few potatoes and grease on top, my wife sent it back and didn't want another. None of the food taste seasoned. This quick stop for a bite to eat was a real colon cleanser for both of us, I hope you don't have far to drive. This was me and my wife's last stop on a three day trip away from home. This place is great. It is by far my favorite restaurant. The food is so good and the staff is very pleasant and friendly. We moved to Florida from Rhode Island. We have not been able to find good seafood like back home until we found Lena's. They also have a restaurant in Massachusetts so that would explain why. Read the reviews and decided to give this place a try, being from New England we have high expectations. We walked in and the smell was amazing, we were told to sit anywhere. Menus were brought over by "miss Lucy." We ordered the seafood plate for 24.95 with whole belly claims. Our drinks were brought out in styrofoam cups and plastic straws. Tea was good, no beer or alcohol. Food came out within five minutes. It was good, nice breading, plate had shrimp, haddock, clams and onion rings. Fries were boring but everything else was good, not great, just good. Portion was large but price was high compared to the seafood place down the street. I liked the onion sauce. Cole slaw was sweet, was confused about the roll, not something that happens in New England. Miss Lucy never came back, I had to ask another server for a takeout container, styrofoam again. Overall it wasn't bad but service was poor. read more

I did not receive what I ordered, and the person on phone didn't bother repeating my order. My mistake - I should have insisted she do her job. The fries were frozen vs fresh, Cole slaw amount was a joke, and those chicken tenders were a joke as well. Did I mention I actually ordered haddock? There was barely enough meat in three chicken tenders to equal what is normally found in ONE elsewhere. It has been 17+ years since I've eaten here, and positive it will be at least that long before I give them another chance. If my day had not been so long I would have gone back and insisted on a refund. You get two stars because my dad liked his shrimp - and he actually received what he ordered. I really had my heart & appetite set and ready for fish...instead I got run-of-the-mill tasteless chicken tenders. It was almost $30 for our food, which consisted of those three VERY thin chicken tenders, frozen fries, two greasy onion rings, and about two ounces of slaw, and that's one meal. The other had six small shrimp, the same fries & onion rings as well as that teasing amount of slaw. Sadly, this area has so few restaurants, and I can think of only one that has decent food, and it's sure not Lena's. read more

Not sure why this place has 4 red stars it is a FAR FAR cry from being a 4 star seafood place. Waitress was awesome and friendly that's where the stars stop. They have found the best way to ruin seafood. There was absolutely ZERO seasoning in the batter on any of the seafood. I have had better seafood from a Food Truck.
