The counter staff was very helpful explaining items on the menu. I got a half-plate of fried clams Nate really enjoyed. The onion rings were also very good. I would definitely eat here again if I was in the area. I ordered carry out, but inside seemed like a perfect place to enjoy your meal.

Nice cozy seafood restaurant and drive thru with window service and pickup plenty of seating for a nice comfortable meal. Got a lobster roll and it wasn't too big or too small was just the right size with plenty of meat both claws and body. Onion rings were perfect as well the clam plate was plenty full both a combo of fries and onion rings. The service is pickup you order your food and they give you a number everything was excellent

They are always so friendly and after having 5 seafood platters from the area this summer I can honestly say Lena's is at top of list. Hot, crispy, light, fresh, tender & sweet.... And always a clean establishment.

This is a town landmark. Literally the best onion rings you will ever have. Seafood is good too.

Not worth the money or the time. Chowder is like water! Fried seafood is soggy. Don't waste your time.

Great seafood chowder and the best fried haddock I have eaten. I would highly recommend.

Family was staying on Essex St for a wedding, and we decided we wanted fried clams and steamers…read morewithout schlepping out of the immediate area. We walked to the Starboard, which has something for everyone, including all the traditional seafood favorites. The clam chowder was delicious and as expected (thick, flavorful and didn't skimp on clams). The fried clam basket was the right size for lunch (delicious tartar sauce), and we all shared an order of steamers--enough for the clam fix we needed. The coleslaw could use some love--it was bitter and none of us cared for it. Yia Yia, our waitress, was super friendly and gave tips on what we wanted, answering any questions. The interior was bright and nautical and we loved the unpretentious vibe.

One of the great traditions of Newburyport is the Starboard Galley. My wife's family has gone to it…read morefor nearly 40 years. It is old school. It is one of a handful of restaurants in Newburyport that continued strong (Park Lunch, the Grog, Thirsty Whale). It has a view of the Merrimac river and is next to the rail trail. The inside decor is classic and probably hasn't changed in decades, but it is comfortable and has that Oceanside charm. The service is always good. Christin has been our server a couple times and she is wonderful - funny, attentive and suggestions. You're always seated quickly. We sat on the outside, covered seating. The food is classic. We started with their clam chowder. That is excellent. The stuffed clams are probably the best in Newburyport. The iceberg wedge salad is amazing with generous blue cheese and bacon on a nice crispy wedge. Probably one of the best values in Newburyport. The onion rings are crispy and tasty. The fried clams are some of the best in the city. You can get a Budweiser for under six dollars. The prices are a good value with lots of good food. Don't expect fancy. But if you want to have an old school seafood meal, the Starboard Galley is the right place. If you want to grab a beer at there, old bar, enjoy it at a great price point.
