We were grabbing seafood to go at 7 seas , but we wanted something to eat at the moment, we looked across the street and saw "Lemon J Pepper" & after looking over some Yelp pictures and reviews we decided to give them a try. They have a pretty wide variety of options on their menu. They are very affordable and have plates from small snack sizes to larger sizes to satisfy a really hungry appetite. You can do walk in and sit down or take out , or even drive through. It was three of us in my party and we all ordered a large lemonade, the lemonade was good. For food we got the catfish, shrimp and fries platter , the catfish nuggets and 3 wings platter with fries and added extra lemon pepper , & the snack of the catfish nuggets and fries. everything was cooked quickly and tasted good , i added that extra lemon pepper , which is a dry mixture they add on top at the end & it was perfect . I think they use white pepper in the mixture because it has a different lemon pepper taste than I'm used to , which was Good! The staff is pretty young . The young man who took our order looked to be about 10 and the young man battering the chicken looked to be about 13 or so and the young lady doing the drive through looked about the same age ( they could have been a little older ) . I did read in the reviews that the staff was young , but they are very young and I think it's awesome they are working, keeping busy and learning the business. This place was a cool spot the food held me over for hours before I was hungry again.

    This was their "corn cup"

I'm on the fence because they're just a step above other chicken and fish joints. There wasn't much seasoning on the meat but after it's fried they sprinkle that dust and for most people it's enough. So let's break down the bag; I ordered a "corn cup" and received fried corn on the cob (the flavor was everything though), the price of the corn nuggets definitely didn't match the quantity and the catfish nuggets I just can't get over that after taste. One bite and done! I will say the shrimp and wings weren't too bad though, I liked that the wings were small. And just in case you didn't catch it above THE CORN ON THE COB WAS THE STAR OF THE MEAL!!

    Fried gizzard

I was in the mood for some fried gizzards and for once I noticed there was only one vehicle in the drive thru when we were passing. It took about 5 minutes for the vehicle in front of us to place their order, turns out there was a car at the window and two more that were waiting on their order in the parking area. We were told to pull up after we paid and noticed the backup of vehicles behind us. It took almost 40 minutes for us to get our order of gizzard. Gizzards were good, but not a 40 minute wait good.

Chicken Tender Sandwich combo- hold the onion, extra peppers

Pretty standard fried food spot. I've never had anything bad but that drive thru line is atrocious. I wish I could order online and just pick up. It's always a 15-30 minute wait. The only ambiance you'll get here is watching employees run food through the raggedy parking lot asking what u ordered, instead of reading the ticket notes My current obsession is their chicken tender sub. I order with extra peppers and no onions (the onion is good but last time they switched the onion type and over did it. I discovered I liked it better without it.

This place isn't far from home or my office. The lunch specials are wonderfully priced and the food is pretty good. The catfish can be seasoned a little more but I get it.... Lemon J Pepper= Lots of that awesome Lemon Pepper fairy dust sprinkled over everything and yeas you can ask for more. the staff is nice and efficient. This place is kinda my new lunch spot: close, fast, tasty and decently priced.

Shrimp n wing combo! With a tiny coleslaw and a slice of bread.

I live ridiculously close, so I come here whenever I want to eat my feels for $2, which gets me a leg and thigh on a bed o' fries. Can't beat that. I really like the lemon pepper seasoning. It doesn't taste overly lemony, and it's not especially peppery, but it's still tasty. The chicken is juicy on the inside and c r o n c h on the outside, which I love! The last time I went in the cashier was an absolute peach! My only real complaint would be the small cup sizes, but I recently was told you get a free refill!

Snapper, chicken wings, shrimp and fries. All dusted with a tasty powder.

Was visiting the city for an event downtown so I was looking for a local take out spot. Went thru the drive thru the girl taking my order did not communicate well. Got to the window pay, she say's pull upfront fine, but before I move I say hey I need napkins, silverware, hot sauce and salt & pepper. I appreciate the food is cooked to order so when it came out hot I zoomed back to the hotel ready to eat. Disappointed with the pricey fillet of unseasoned snapper, no seasoning other than the dust. The fries, shrimp were good, but I hate 1 inch fries personally. Did not eat the chicken and 3/4 of the non seasoned fish. I was over it and exhausted from licking my fingers since I did not have napkins, silverware and salt & pepper. Every city I visit I love to support small business, Jacksonville II will keep searching.

    5 wings & fries
    Eboni T.

Stopped by for a quick lunch. Ordered the 5 wings & fries. After placing my order I was asked to pull in front of the building to wait for my order. My wings were nice and hot. They tasted good and had just enough lemon pepper seasoning on them. I did not eat the fries. Good prices and my wings were fresh and tasty. I'd go back.

They transport ice in trash cans, not in plastic bags or covered, no gloves or masks, down busy streets to serve customers. If they do this with their ice, I can only imagine what they do with their food.

Lemonade: $1.50 for a cup 3/4 full of ice.

This is one of those places that we love but haven't been to in far too long. We both tried things that were new to each of us tonight as well, which was cool. I ordered The Ole Smokie, with everything on it and choose cheddar cheese. My first thought when it was brought to the table was "oh, I'll probably have to go at this with a fork & knife" but I decided to give it a shot as intended. I'm glad I did because the bread held up surprisingly well! As far as ingredients go, the brisket was good and smokey. There was a good mix of everything else and more than enough cheddar. My wife ordered the Chicken Cheesesteak. She also had a choice of cheese and she picked whizz. The thing that separates this from what people might expect is that it's chunks of chicken, not shredded chicken. She said that's not a bad thing at all, just a change from what some might exoect. She thought it was a welcome change. She liked their cheese whizz a lot and liked the roll as always, so she was glad she tried it. It's worth noting that both sandwiches were big enough that we both took half of each home. I didn't get the name of the two people that were working there this evening, but I'd still like to give then a shout out. They were both incredibly patient with the customers ahead of us and they didn't make us feel rushed even though we were there fairly close to the time they close on Friday evenings. Another good visit to Clarke Bros. Here's hoping it doesn't take us so long to get back here again for the next visit!

Ordered at the front counter and was greeted by a friendly young lady... good start. I went in planning to get the muffaleta off the specials board. They checked on it, but no luck... they were out of the cuts needed. I was pointed toward the Italian, but my buddy already grabbed that and I felt like being different. Noticed another special on the wall, a smoked brisket sandwich. Can't remember the exact name, but that's what I went with. Instead of chips or their homemade tots, I grabbed the balsamic roasted brussel sprouts as an appetizer. Tables weren't the cleanest and were a little wobbly, but nothing deal-breaking... we made it work. Food came out pretty quick and looked solid. Flavor-wise... a little mixed. The brussel sprouts were very flaky and leafy, almost crumbled apart. You really had to work your fork to get a bite. I was picturing larger roasted halves. Sauce was fine, nothing bad, nothing special. I'd give those a 3 out of 5. The brisket sandwich was interesting. The meat was very fatty and kind of tough to chew through. Not sure if that's just the cut or the prep. I ate about three-quarters of it. It wasn't bad, just didn't hit the way I hoped. Probably still thinking about that muffaleta. Another 3 out of 5. I'd come back, no doubt... but next time I'm sticking with what they're known for. Those cheesesteaks always look great, and that's probably the move. Today was about trying something different, and I'm glad I did... even if it didn't knock my socks off.
