Tunis on Baymeadows is OKAY. It doesn't taste anything like the one on 103rd but it'll do for this side of town. I came for the fried chicken strips and chicken wings for myself and the kiddos. You can order them WET or DRY (no sauce). There are a couple of sauces to choose from but I only remember my favorite sauces: Lemon Pepper, Garlic Parmesan, or Mild Buffalo-Wet. The fried chicken is GOOD it's a consistent flavor. HOWEVER, the mild buffalo sauce at this location is not as Tangy-Hot as the 103rd location. Also, the 103rd location actually makes the chicken wet. This location tosses the sauce on top. The FRIES fit my liking bc they're crinkle cut and PAIRS WELL with the BUFFALO sauce. If you're looking for the complementary celery or carrot stick NOPE not at Tunis. UNFORTUNATELY, there isn't a Kids Meal or small portion option so my younger daughter is forced into an adult meal. I stopped here for lunch earlier in the week and grabbed the Jax Burger special. It was a decent burger. I gave them another try on Friday and opted for the Gyro and Wings combo. The wings were all topical in flavor; there was no marinade or seasoning in the meat. The Gyro was sadly an epic failure. I got the traditional lamb meat and found this to be terrible. I ordered the chicken livers with fries. The livers were over cooked and I dont know what seasoning they are using but it has a nasty sweet taste to it that does nothing to comment the liver. Last week I was in the area and decided to grab a few things to take home for lunch. I noticed the building and parking lot looked cleaner than the last time I'd been there. A very pleasant gentleman named Ben came to the window when I was ordering and introduced himself as the new owner. He also was opening two locations in other areas of town. I ordered a chicken gyro, a lamb gyro and a slice of red velvet cake. It was all absolutely delicious. The gyros were overflowing with meat, the chicken was juicy and tender and the traditional gyro was exceptionally flavorful. The pita bread was very fresh, large and thick enough to hold the sandwich. The red velvet cake was fresh, moist and tasted homemade. Tried Tunis for the first time tonight, went thru the drive thru to give them a try. I ordered the seafood platter with a choice of Basa, Tilapia or Flounder, chose the flounder with fried shrimp & fries along with a cherry/limeade. My wife chose the jumbo shrimp & onion rings. Everything was hot tasty & crispy. My only complaint was with the cherry/limeade as there was no lime flavor that I could discern but was still tasty. Service was good for a drive thru. Definitely will return to try some of their other offerings. And may try eating in at some point to see how the locations ambiance has changed after the previous tenants. Until recently, my son and I was looking for something to eat and he loves him some burgers. After reading the reviews, we decided to give Tunis a try and we did not regret it. Tunis on Baymeadows and Old Kings Road is the best location of the series of restaurants with the same name. It is my go to place for the occasional gyro sandwich and excellent fries. The staff is always courteous and friendly. The food takes a little while to get ready but I believe this is how they achieve always piping hot fries so I don't mind a bit of waiting. We typically get the original gyro with fries and the jax burger with fries. The portions are consistently large and the food is always tasty.
