Lemongrass' s menu is great. The lunch menu is well priced with the daily soup included with the entree. The food was delivered promptly and the server was able to make it easy and the food was delicious and hot. I thought it was very reasonably priced for what I had to eat. read more

Went here tonight for dinner. It's a medium sized place filled with booths along the windows, tables in the middle and along the bamboo wall. Even though there was a booth open, they sat us at a high traffic table near the cash register where all the takeout orders were getting paid for, and the servers were constantly flying by, brushing up against us. We asked if we could move to a booth, and the server has the nerve to tell us in a stern manner that they usually don't move people--really? Our first server, Monica, took our order. She was nice, we ordered deep fried wontons, lemongrass soup on, wonton soup, crispy chicken, and coconut chicken curry. The servers all work together as a team, but the other two servers were just cold, rushed you, and gave you one word answers. They certainly need some lessons on how to be friendly and courteous to customers. If we ever asked for something, the other two servers would usually say "no". Monica is the one you want. The Wonton Soup was not your standard wonton soup, it had a different flavor that I didn't like, though it included four thick wonton noodles. The Deep Fried Wontons were good, nice and crunchy, but the sweet and sour sauce was far too thin and runny. The Coconut Chicken Curry was very runny with not a lot of chicken. The Crispy Orange Chicken was just awful. It came with heavily breaded chicken breast cut up on top of veggies and sauce on the side. The breaded chicken was cold and tasteless, the orange sauce was also cold and made as almost a cream sauce--very odd. Both entrees came with plain white jasmine rice, which was probably the best prepared item of them all. Needless to say, with the majority of servers not providing friendly service and running around like crazy, along with the poorly prepared food, made for such a terrible experience. read more

Don't understand the mediocre reviews. This has long been one of our favorite places in general and most favorite for Thai and Vietnamese specifically. Famous for Crispy Duck/Chicken, but we love their Special Fried Rice, Bami Goreng, and Pho. I was worried they may have gone downhill since Covid, but I'm happy to report it's not only as good as ever, it may be even better now! Wonderful service, quick food, big portions. Their prices have gone up, but so has everyone's. Can't say enough good things. read more

First of all, GOOd Thai food is very hard to come across in North America in general from my experiance. As someone who was born near Thailand and have been and tasted REAL Thai food in Southern Thailand and Malaysia, Thai food is something im very particular on . Real thai food should never be sweetened and altered it just defeats the purpose imo . I have tried all the thai places in Hamilton region but this one seemed to be your best bet if you are in hamilton region. Its my first time ordering from them using Uber Eats I notice that "thai " restaurants in Canada tend to cater to the general population where they sweeten and alter the original thai flavors and tone them down for typically the majority white population. I requested them to put no sugar in the dishes but i was told that the sauces already have sugar . If you cant have sugar i would avoid this place . I asked every dish to be extra spicy , because in reality REAL Thai food is quite spicy and tangy in general . The Tom Yum which is a big staple in thai cuisine at this restaurant was a bit interesting , The coconut in it tasted fresher than other places it may have been fresh coconut milk , however the tom yum flavor isnt as pure and kind of taste like Tom Yum paste from a bottle . The pad thai and Fried rice were okay and nice with the Tom Yum , portions were nice for two hungry people . Appetizers were normal . The peanut sauce was a bit weird, its not authentic and it looks more like peanut butter if anything , because actual peanut sauce is more textured and is made with fresh peanuts and other elements whereas this one was a perfecly smooth paste. The pad thai was not bad , something missing in there in my opinion . Overall good meal , better than other Thai places in the region . If you want Thai food that isnt so bad try this place . This place they actually made the food spicy a bit more by cutting bird's eye chillis on to all the dishes , but if you want authentic thai food this isnt it . Its nice to see another thai place in Hamilton , i would order again if i was really craving some average mildly sweetened Thai food . Final Thoughts : Not as authentic as i wanted it to be . Great place! Lots of selection, with Pho soups, Thai food, Vegetarian and even lots of Gluten free options! If you are looking for Gluten free, look no further, then you need to come here. Tom Yum Soup was great! The Green curry was good, not excellent but still good taste and big portion. Cashew Chicken was really tasty and came to the table with great presentation, a little stand with a tea light to keep it warm! Great medium size place with great decor! Lemon Grass is my favourite Restaurant when visiting Hamilton, love the food and staff, great service!

I tried the crispy wontons and Thai beef curry and both were mediocre. The crispy wontons were just deep-fried wonton wrappings with nothing in them. The beef curry was gross so I didn't even finish eating it. Lukewarm and not sure what ingredients they used to create such a taste. I wouldn't recommend the food here and I won't return. read more

I've never been exactly dazzled by this restaurant. Both the ambiance and the staff lack warmth. I wish I kept a mental note of this when I needed a place for a late lunch today. We had the worst experience - cold environment, slow service, delayed appetizers, two other customers around us complaining about their issues, 45 minutes to get mains, a server (or maybe cook) who walking by us said we had been forgotten (no real acknowledgement) and then one of our dishes was not fully cooked. The server kept her smile not knowing what to even say when we pointed it out. The cook came to the table at her insistence, but then didn't seem to care much herself. To be fair she offered to remake the dish, but we'd already been there for an hour and the first dish took 45 minutes so... I don't think I am coming back. NEVER EAT HERE Food was disgusting....the quality has gone down over the past year and the Pad Thai was the worst I have EVER eaten. Absolutely terrible customer service. Both the kitchen Manager and the restaurant Manager argued with me about either refunding my money for the Pad Thai or giving me something in exchange. I drove back to the restaurant for my refund and they refused. They did not stand behind the quality of their food and blamed it on being given the incorrect order. Very cute, little restaurant with very yummy food in house or to-go! A friend took me to this simple Thai and Vietnamese restaurant last night, and I loved it! Obviously known around the neighborhood because it was packed...although there are only about 20 tables. It's pretty casual and simply decorated, but not dingy or run-down looking. I had vietnamese rolls as an appetizer; I always love these rolls with peanut sauce. My friend had some chicken dish with cashews which I tried, and it was so good! It also came in a sweet little silver dish on top of a tea-light contraption to keep it warm. I had Coconut curry chicken, which was also delicious; spicy but not too spicy, with a very flavorful sauce. My bill was $20 including tip. Overall a fantastic meal for a pretty good price. I was even impressed with the service; the waitresses were very attentive and always filling up our cups of water. I'd highly recommend! read more

Today's pick for dinner with my friends was at Lemon Grass. This has been one of our favorites in the past. Looks like the place was renovated but somehow it appeared congested. The waitstaff were extremely busy so it was expected that we didn't get served right away. Their cashew chicken was always my favorite, but tonight I ordered the spicy Pad Thai which was a big mistake. It was bland, and the sauce tasted like tomato-based and not peanut-based. The noodles were overcooked and mushy. And no crushed peanuts!? So I asked for some crushed peanuts and I got it, but I didn't expect to be billed .75 cents for it. So beware! I ate about a quarter of it and packaged the rest to take home for the trash. I'm not sure I'll ever go back to Lemon Grass again. read more

My girlfriend and I just ordered green curry and pad thai. The food we received is unrecognizable. Green curry is supposed to be made with coconut milk and green curry paste. This tasted like ketchup and regular milk with sugar. The pad thai was like spaghetti and ketchup. I was quite shocked. The only positive thing was the chicken was not dry and cooked well. The spring rolls were okay. If you want anything that resemble thai food (fusion or not) DO NOT order from here! Seriously. I even refused their refund because I wanted to make a point that you cannot sell garbage and stay in business. I recommend any other place than here. If you like green curry just get a can of coconut and green curry paste from No Frills - mix them together with add cooked chicken and it will be at least 5 times better than what they served me. They where to busy chatting with each other and only 3 tables seated while we where there. The people next to us also left no tip as we did not either. Although we don't live in Hamilton, we've driven by this place several times while visiting friends, and we finally had the opportunity to stop in for dinner. It was just okay. For my meal, I ordered the crispy chicken and it was not at all what I was expecting. The batter was similar to what you'd find in a fish and chip shop, and it made the chicken quite dry. Also, the 'vegetable' part of my dish was mostly just large chunks of onion. It was waaaay too much onion, and I say that as someone who usually LOVES onion. The 'homemade' sauce was also kind of gross -- it was sort of beige and was partly gloppy, partly congealed. The taste was nice, but the consistency was unappetizing. When we left I looked at the dishes on some of the other tables and they looked delicious, so maybe we just picked the wrong thing? Based on what I saw on the other tables I'd be willing to go back and try something different, but I was mostly unimpressed with the dishes we ordered. read more

Amazing food and great service. I was visiting from Vancouver recently and my friends decided to take me here several days ago, for dinner on my last night in town. Started with the classic tom yum soup - just the right combination of hot, sour and saltiness. One of my friends got I think a coconut curry soup, which he quite enjoyed. Other friend ordered veggie spring rolls with peanut sauce, also very good. I ordered a spicy curry pad thai, which to my surprise was made with thin egg noodles instead of the classic rice noodles. While the menu stated it was a spicy dish, alas I could barely detect any spiciness. Flavour profile was great though, and it was still quite enjoyable. One of my companions ordered duck - first time he had ever tried duck in his life and was pleasantly surprised. Crispy skin, a light and slightly sweet sauce, and the duck was perfectly cooked - absolutely delicious. I think he ordered the best dish out of the three of us. Heard a lot of this place and I'm a foodie so popped in as I now work close by. Was not impressed:( Guy at the counter was not pleasant. I ordered the red Thai curry chicken with jasmine rice. It was subpar. Moxies actually serves a better dish so that should say it all... the curry was not even red in color. Unless there was an error in the order it tasted nothing like red thai curry?? Favourite Thai restaurant in Hamilton! I have visited Lemon Grass countless times and I have never had a dish I didn't enjoy! My personal favourites are the pad Thai, crispy chicken with peanut sauce, and happy family (grilled beef, chicken, shrimp and vegetables in delicious sauce with basmati rice). I order all three almost every time I visit. Usually not a long wait and service is pretty good. Great value for the price, quality and quantity of food. I always go home with leftovers (and sometimes I order an extra item to take home for lunch the next day)! read more

First time I went to Lemon Grass Thai cuisine,was when friends introduced it to us! We were told they had Bahmi on the menu,that really appealed to us! We had that a lot when we were in Holland! I found Lemon Grass to be a very clean,but also very plain restaurant! The service was good and prompt ,the Bahmi we found excellent! Fast and delicious food w/ lots of gluten free options. I stopped in for lunch and found lemongrass to be a nice surprise. I had the curry crispy duck w/ coconut milk. It was amazing! Very fitting interior decor with good natural light - the place was clean. Dining in and take-out available. No wait for a table - the place was empty. Typical price range for most dishes is $10-15, with many menu options. We enjoyed the coconut pork curry (3*/5*) and coconut shrimp curry (3*/5*). Professional and attentive serving staff. Comfortable booths and there are several tables along a wall that could be combined for a larger group (6+), if the place isn't busy. Not sure how authentic the place is but, it'll do. Not impressed at all. All their soups including the vegeterian ones are made with chicken broth. We had order the pad thai to go and turns out there was no peanuts in the dish. It was a big disappoint. Another thing to add when i called to order that lady on the phone could not understand what i was ordering. My parents love this restaurant and always order out and dine in. I had the take out once a few years ago and was underwhelmed. I tagged along with them the other night with fairly low expectations but decided to re-evaluate based on how much they like it. If you want authentic thai food or even semi-authentic thai food this is not the place. Think frozen dinner, I'm fairly certain that the "thai curry sauce" on my crispy basa filet was a VH sauce from a bottle; honestly it was gross. Definitely not home made. The fish itself was tasty, but all deep fried fish is and the ratio of fish to batter was very low. Their spring rolls weren't even particularly tasty which is a difficult thing to screw up. My parents like it but they've never had thai food before. The restaurant itself has undergone renovations recently and looks really nice but the food is not worth it though the prices are decent. read more

Was there for my birthday. No 'wow we are glad you are here'. Just wait staff being snarky because all the meat dishes/sauces are full of msg when I asked what I could eat. Only able to eat a hard mango salad. Other places often give you a comp of something if it is a birthday or special occasion. They treated me like I was nuisance.
