It is in one of the nicer sections of town, and I've not seen any vandalism or other social problems there. It is pretty sloped, not very wide (deep?), and you won't be able to gather there for a large family picnic or for a game of touch football, but if you want to take your younger child or your dog to a nice, quiet park for a little bit of fresh air, it is a nice choice.

The parj is well maintained, but beware of the goose droppings. Its everywhere. Its a must visit on a nice summer day or a cool fall. Winter might be fun, but I stay indoors.

The eastern side of the path goes along a creek and there were quite a few birds, ducks and squirrels in and around the creek. I did see graffiti on one of the park signs, so that made me wonder how safe it is. In general it's a nice park, but I would have to come back during busier times such as evening or weekends to see how it is. For now though I'm only feeling 3 stars.

Though sometimes this area can be a spot where homeless people stay, they make it a point to keep it safe, especially since it's right across from a school. I hope Reno PD can come clear these junkies out of there. Now to the actual park. The park was mostly clean, minus the homeless. The playground is fantastic. I had a friend who lived in this neighborhood a while ago, so I've seen it during some less than ideal days, but as they began to refresh this park and build some newer homes around it, you could see the whole area changing. Before, the park was old, decrepit, and had a reputation for attracting an unsavory element to the area. The new park brings some much needed vibrancy to the area, as well as a friendliness that was notably absent before. If I were living in this neighborhood I would certainly appreciate and take advantage of the new amenities. The playground equipment was all new, the geometric climbing structure made me want to be a kid again, and I was overall amazed at how clean it was too. Kudos to the city for investing in this asset and for the neighborhood for treasuring it appropriately. I hope it continues!

What you will find is a well maintained (most of the time) park on the Truckee river. Quiet park where it is easy to have space to yourself. Lots of sun and shade. Ample parking for the area. The Truckee River Walk trail goes right through the park. Make sure you respect the river current here. The shore is nice but the river gets strong in the middle.

There's plenty of shade thanks to the beautiful, massive trees, and wide open grassy areas that make it easy to spread out and relax. Notable: - Smallish park, best for the younger crowd (I'd say 8 and under). - Life jackets are available to borrow (huge plus for families near the river). - Bathroom on-site (clean-ish depending on time of day). - There's a sand horseshoe pit with horseshoes provided--random but awesome. - Ample parking - Popular for jogging groups, photoshoots, and 4-legged parents (some leashed, some not). Worth mentioning: The playground surfacing is recycled rubber tire material. While it's soft and safer for falls, I'm torn on it--lots of new research around potential chemical exposure and PFAS concerns. Feels like one of those "it seemed like a good idea in the early 2000s" things. Would love to see Reno explore alternatives in the future.

There is a horseshoe pit. There is a covered eating area. There are tennis courts which appeared to be in good condition. There was another homeless person sleeping under one of the trees. I have been here a couple of times with friends and have not been overly disturbed by either the freeway or the homeless. It is a nice walk up the hill from downtown and is a very convenient spot to enjoy a cup of coffee and a treat from Homage. The north edge of the park along University Terrace is much quieter. The park looks well maintained. A lovely, shady, green spot to enjoy on a warm day.
