A little upset that I tried it on my last visiting day because I should've been eating here everyday from the start! That's how great it is. I believe I ordered the shank! It looked too good to eat haha. Very juicy and tender. The rice and beans had a delicious flavor. The hotel in itself is very unique and remarkable in itself. It truly feels local to the island and its history. The architecture is breathtaking. I specifically enjoyed the rooftop with optional seating and a jacuzzi/pool. I enjoyed that there were too many people in the hotel during my stay which allowed my visit to be more intimate with the locals/area and the intricate designs the hotel offered. It was also a plus that coffee and tea was offered in the morning. I was especially happy with the oat milk option.

The hotel is situated at the end of the busy boardwalk and this end of the street was relatively quiet. The hotel staff was impeccable, full of local recommendations. Breakfast each morning was scrumptious and the coffee was strong and tasty. They provided beach chairs, beach umbrella, coolers and ice, and unlimited beach towels. We didn't get to try the pool, but it looked nice! 4 ft deep all around so good for folks looking to lounge. We stayed in the Deluxe King room (room 6) and the natural light streaming in throughout the day and the ocean views were perfect. If you're planning on spending some time on the balcony of this room, bring your bug spray! Overall, highly recommend. We'd stay here again!

As always, I conducted a bunch of research, some say too much but they always ask me to find things for them... The name for the Hacienda Tamarindo is derived from Tamarindo trees on the property. If you go to Vieques there is a ferry they run all day. Ticket was two dollars. Vieques is a nature preserve so expect to see horses everywhere on the island. Oh yeah, roosters too. You need a rental car on the island. Well, at least I would recommend one and am glad I had one. There is no way to see the beaches without a vehicle. Hacienda Tamarindo will reserve your rental for you if you ask. Be aware that you may not want to arrive on the island before the rental company opens. If I'm ever on Vieques I will stay at the Hacienda Tamarindo.

Lots of kind kitties everywhere Hacienda Tamarindo had some great amenities. - the hotel booked our rental car so it was waiting for us when we got to the hotel - you can request they make lunch for you. When we woke up they had it ready to go in a cooler for us - breakfast is included, it not a buffet either, it's a nice sit down breakfast and they serve you - the pool is open 24/7. It has a cute fountain and again great views of the beach - each room comes with a hard side cooler you can take to the beach. - there is an honor bar where you can make your own drinks - you can rent snorkeling gear, beach chairs and umbrellas from them.

Our king room with lanai ocean views was exactly that! Once we got used to being "unplugged" we throughly enjoyed our stay. The brunch and dinner restaurant are very convenient. The bar is highly recommended/known by locals, as is the resort. A fabulous pool and beach access - the facility provided beach towels and chairs you can carry to the beach. After a long day exploring we'd either shut the curtains and cool off or sit on the lanai enjoying the views, warm breeze and watching the wild horses. When I arrived I was checked in and given a tour of the attractive property by the staff member on duty. My room was spacious and comfortable along with the bathroom that had a shower in it. The ac worked well too. The TV was a smaller screen that I think was less than 32" and was mounted high up on the wall so TV watching could be better. The room had a small refrigerator in it. Shortly after checking in I received a series of text messages from the owner regarding information about Isabel II such as restaurants nearby, grocery stores, taxi info, tour companies, etc, which was helpful. Bravo Beach is well maintained with 2 freshwater pools and less than 20 rooms all with outdoor facing entrances. It is located directly on the water with a beach but swimming is not allowed or desired from the shell beach however the beach is available for walking. The hotel does offer the free use of beach supplies like coolers and folding chairs, etc. if you need them. They do have their own small parking lot and more parking next to the hotel but I'm not sure they have enough parking if all of their rooms are full. The hotel is located about a 6-7 minute walk from the ferry terminal. If I returned to Vieques I would be happy to stay at Bravo Beach Hotel again.

I can't agree with the other reviewer more on the fact that it is quite possibly the awesome-est place to stay ever...and very difficult to describe the overwhelming amount of charm. time kinda stops (which is really nice if you are on vacation.) if you enjoy languid porch swings, fluffy clouds, beautiful views, sunkissed cheeks, peaceful hammocks, rum drinks, floating in water, watching lizards, carefree afternoons, sweet tropical fruits, beach glass, cat-naps + quiet-time this is the place for you! we didn't have to share a bathroom, because we rented the cabanita. it has it's own bathroom - a private outdoor shower. (oh bliss!) a tiny kitchenette...with fridge and two burner stove + it's own front porch. La Finca has many options for different types of travelers. The community house has shared bathrooms and kitchen and some little bed rooms like a hostel. It has a breezy open indoor/outdoor quality and plenty of perfect spots for a nap. There are larger more "luxury" cabins also that are secluded and less communal throughout the property... OR you and 49 of your closest friends could rent the entire place for a week! this option would be great for a big party, retreat, family re-union, wedding, yoga intensive, etc. -the salt water pool is amazing! it feels healing for your skin and doesn't stink like chlorine! but none of it is what you might be used to. the linens and towels don't match, there are no tvs, internets, newspapers, telephones, etc. no one wears shoes that much. they might rent you a convertible car without a top (and it might rain that day.) people are so completely laid back that there isn't even glass in any the windows! i felt really lucky to have landed in such a beautiful, down to earth place. The Inn Keepers are super kind and helpful and will make you feel right at home. Go when it isn't tourist season (late spring+summer) and you will find yourself totally alone on a crystal clear blue beach swimming with tropical fish for hours at a time. We felt so free, we got naked! La Finca and all of the island is really pretty rural -you'll have to be able to entertain yourself. bring books, instruments, crafts, bikes, rafts and bug spray! all we did the entire time we were there was: read, swim, drink, eat, drive around beach hopping and sleep. a real relaxing vacation!!! my only beware: the non-puerto rican transplants that have spent entirely too much time in the sun and burnt some of their brains off can talk/get/act/look really wacky. BUT: If you have never felt a trade wind, seen the stars without light pollution, taken a dip with glowing phytoplankton, photographed wild ponies or eaten a fresh tamarindo....you really have no idea what you are missing.

The owners are wonderful! Prior to arrival, I called The Vieques Guesthouse to confirm our reservations. I spoke to Amanda who is the owner. She helped me find my confirmation in my spam. Also, I got a text confirmation too. So easy! Upon arrival, we were greeted by Amanda. She went over all the logistics with us and we were off to our room. I loved the starfish theme in our room. From the colors to the pillows, it was so cute. Our bed was comfortable and clean. There is soap, shampoo, conditioner, a microwave, refrigerator, safe, and hair dryer too. In the morning, there is complimentary coffee and tea. You can purchase breakfast and snacks too. Amanda was so friendly and helped us navigate the island. She provided a tour and food recommendations too. Can't wait to go back!

AVOID STAYING HERE BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY!!!!…read more While I am aware of how hard the travel industry has been hit due to Covid it is saddening to see that customer service has been affected this greatly and my party and myself will not be returning to stay at Hix accommodations around the world. This is why... My party and I unfortunately had the worst experience when we stayed at Hix Island House in Vieques and strongly advise potential vacationers to book at other accommodations in Vieques (Such as El Blok). We felt that the listing on Expedia where we booked our stay through was very misleading since none of the amenities mentioned were actually available, such as the pool and yoga. The property felt like a ghost town with us only being able to communicate with the manager via phone as even reception hours were inaccurate. In addition, the only other guests staying at the time mentioned they received an email that the pool was broken and we were never communicated until we brought this up to management. To make matters worse, my friend had an injury happen at Hix Island House in the horse floor fence. While it had a sign to hold onto the rail, there was a pole sticking out of the wall that the rail was on which made my friend have to walk around the pole and have her fall through the fence. While we booked for 2 nights we only stayed one night after this ordeal and when we requested a full refund due to all the reasons above, the hotel through Expedia only approved a partial refund. Even after pleading our case to why a full refund should be given no acknowledgment/ at the bare minimum an apology was made by management of Hix Island House or Expedia.

Surrounded by nature this place offers you a space to restart, refresh and rejuvenate your body and soul. From the moment you arrive, the atmosphere is one of serenity and tranquility accompanied with the most amazing and attentive staff. The rooms are stunning with a rustic cozy vibe. I've stayed in different cabins but my favorite is the Invisible House. It has the most beautiful sunlight coming thru the windows in the mornings and afternoons. The outside shower might be one of my favorite things. The beds are so confortable. If you are one of those who wake up active like me, you can start your morning by stretching and moving your body with a yoga class designed for all levels in the most beautiful space. The class leaves you vitalized for the rest of the day. Then my favorite part of the day while staying at La Finca, the Ayurvedic breakfast. The breakfast not only looks beautiful to the eye but also the flavors are delicious and healthy. Very nourishing. There is tea and cafe available for you all day. After that, you can spend the day at La Finca spa that offers a variety of Ayurvedic treatments, massages, acupuncture and different rituals. Or go the the pool area at the Pavilion where you can relax, read and sunbathe. But if you feel more adventurous you could dedicate the afternoon to exploring the stunningly varied landscapes of Vieques. By renting a golf cart you can go beach hooping around the island. Vieques has some of the most beautiful and crystal clear beaches in the Caribbean. I try to come here once a year so Im always looking forward to coming back.

I ended up choosing this location because it was a 3 bedroom unit with a kitchen. We were not there long enough to use the kitchen, just the fridge. The rooms were dated and more like a cabin feel. It's a house converted to hotel. There was hot water, air conditioning, and a fridge. That's all you need in Vieques. It's so beautiful in this island that even camping out would be a great experience, but probably not if you have kids. Saw a few young couple do it and I was kind of jealous. It's very close to El Malicon. Great for an evening stroll. There's a nearby watering hole next door that gets a little wild on the weekends. By law it ends at 10pm and 11pm on Sundays, so not bad if the kids are trying to sleep. The price was kind of high, but everything else was booked. When you call the hotel, they don't really budge on changes to the reservation. Use Hotels.com or the like. They are more flexible with them. They have a pool, but I never used it. Who needs a pool when you have one of the most beautiful beaches in the world nearby. Rent a car for this adventure so you can drive to local beaches. The hotel lets you take umbrellas, lawn chairs, and coolers for your beach day. Nice accommodation for the guests. The person that checks you in is a cool elderly man, but with an attitude. Be cool and he'll be cool. He started by talking at me and in the end we were super cool. Don't take his attitude to heart. I'm sure he gets a lot of families with attitudes and that's just his armor to it.
