AVOID THIS DEALERSHIP!!! I will surely take part of the blame for not doing my due diligence before buying a 2025 Ford F-350 Super Duty pickup truck. I assumed that such an big and expensive peice of ... equipment would be capable of towing the kind of weight and trailer I need to tow. The mechanical ability is there. The tow hitch receiver is plenty strong enough. The truck is beefy enough. The electrical connections are there. The dealer even added an optional package to make towing a big RV trailer safer. Except for one tiny omission -- an option from the factory. A trailer brake controller. This is a pickup we're talking about, not a chassis cab. But I didn't check before turning over the money and signing the paperwork. Now I own a 7000 lb paperweight. But wait! There's more! When I had questions about those dealer installed options (actually customer installed, but why split hairs), thinking that they wouldn't work with the truck (I was wrong, but they didn't know I was wrong either--I only found out after I dove into the installation literature)--the General Sales Manager decided it was a good idea to argue with me. Even when I said we should wait and ask the master tech. The funny thing is that I actually got insulted when he suggested we rescind and unwind the deal. Ironically, that was the nicest and smartest thing he said, and I will forever regret not taking him up on it. Now, it isn't easy to admit I'm a fool. Maybe I expect too much, but it would have been nice if, after telling them I was going to pull a bobcat loader with the truck, someone would have mentioned that, despite any assumption to the contrary, trying to do such a thing with THAT truck could be deadly -- and illegal. Don't get me wrong, not all is lost. In fact, it's probably the best thing because the glitch with the software on the truck itself can disconnect the trailer brake controller installed at the factory from the truck's defective computer. Just like it was never installed in the first place. I suppose this issue will make the news in the not-too-distant future. Lawsuits aplenty. So the good here is that I can get a trailer brake controller that actually works and won't kill anyone. In closing, I shall never again do any business with Leith, I will never take the truck to Leith for warranty work, and I will at every opportunity warn others to stay as far away from Leith as humanly possible. I'm contemplating putting a sign on the tailgate, but I may just leave it in the Yelp review. read more

Overpriced oil changes and poor service. There are better dealers in the area. They charged $139 for a basic oil change (calling it "the works" doesn't make it special). It took 2 1/2 hours and the staff was rude. That was in July and now they've called me several times to come back. Like a lot of dealers they make their money off service so they shorten recommended intervals and call things fancy names to extract more money out of customers. read more

Bought a new Focus and immediately experienced the transmission problems that have become public. When I talked with service and the manager, I was told that I needed to learn to drive the new type transmission, that I do "not understand little lady, " We can only fix what Ford tells us to fix, and many other excuses and lies. When the car died at the Leith dealership, management told me that I would get a discount because of the Ford Focus law suit. I got no discount, and now have an Escape and have changed the battery every three months since 2017. I had to jump the car every time I parked. I was put in a dangerous situation as I had to jump the car in parking lots. I had to make sure that I was home by dark. Leith manager says that they got a bad batch of batteries, and I will have to keep bringing yet another lemon back until my warranty runs out. Leith Ford lies and are crooks. read more

I just purchased my 4th vehicle from the Leith Wendell dealerships. I found a vehicle of interest on their website, and printed out the information to bring with me. Upon arrival I showed the information to my sales person, who immediately got the keys for it. Before we did any test drive I told him up front that I was not interested in any kind of deal that day, that I wanted to see and drive the vehicle, and if interested I would arrange payment outside of the dealership. The salesperson honored my request and let me drive the vehicle, check out its options without any pressure to make a decision. I was introduced to the sales manager after the salesperson mentioned my situation. The only request he made of me was if I would allow him to work up the numbers, which took less than five minutes. The offer included a generous discount because of my previous purchases with the Leith Wendell dealerships. Bottom line - I bought the vehicle about a week later. Never buy a car in one day. Sales tactics were predatory, no surprise there. My car was sent over from another Leith dealer, and I should've just had them send it back and bought it from there. It had been in the market for a while so there was no fear of losing it. I got my plate a day late, would not give me the courtesy of checking out a seatbelt light, after I signed the papers. They wanted to charge me a fee for diagnosis. The bottom line is I wanted the car. And take your time. You probably know by now I'm a soft touch. read more

Leith Ford had a new vehicle at a good price, claimed it was sitting on the lot for a long time (over 200 days) so they were offering a discount. I am an out of state buyer and I agreed to purchase vehicle at their discounted price. We finalized the price on a Wed and I gave ALL my personal info, ran a credit check, gave my license, insurance, address, all details and was waiting on paperwork to be fedexed to me. I kept texting the sales person and finance person asking them to call me so I could give my credit card and for them to email me the paperwork. I was supposed to docusign paperwork and get a hard copy fedexed to me. They never sent me the email. They never took my credit card info. Thursday, the next day, I didn't get my paperwork and called my sales person. My sales person told me he was off that day, which was a surprise to me, he never told me he was off. Friday, the very next day, I called again and they claimed the vehicle sold. I asked how they could do that when I am texting them asking them to send me the contract to sign. He claimed I was not committed, I told him why would i give all my personal info if i was not committed. I also have texts asking repeatedly to send me the paperwork to sign. I am very upset. They took all my credit info, license info, insurance info. When they told me they sold the car, I asked why they did this to me. They said I was not 100% committed. I asked what else could I do? Serious crooks!!! Zero stars was not an option... My door latch on my 2014 Ford Escape won't activate. It was recalled in 2020, and had it replaced at Leith November 2020. I called to schedule assuming it was under another recall - when scheduling, Danielle (?) confirmed the new latch was not recalled but that I should bring it in to fix under warranty. This was on 8/1/2022, and their next available appointment wasn't until today, 8/11. It's my drivers side door, so I inquired about a rental only to be told no service cars were available. I had to rent from a third-party out of my own pocket because I was not willing to drive around with my drivers side door ratcheted closed! Only after sitting in the waiting room for two hours was I told the warranty is only 12months/12K miles. So instead of telling me that on the phone when I scheduled my appointment TWO WEEKS AGO, they let me come in and pay the $175 fee for my car to be looked at!!! Now they want nearly $500 to fix it!!! Leith Ford technician put wrong oil (5W-30), a thicker oil, in my engine when the manufacturer required 5W-20. My owner's manual does not state that the two types of oil are interchangeable. Four and a half months after running the wrong oil throughout my engine, parts started malfunctioning. My car started misfiring, poor fuel efficiency and acceleration. From 12/10/22 to 2/2/23, I have replaced the fuel pump, fuel injector, ignition coils, spark plugs, catalytic converter, and engine mount. Also, had two leaks on the engine repaired and two oil changes using the correct oil (5W-20), all totaling over $6,000 in repairs. As of 2/15/23, my engine light came back on with a P0012 code (Variable Valve Timing Solenoid), which could possibly be caused by using oil other than the manufacturer's requirement. Leith can't deny that the wrong oil was put in my engine by their technician because it is documented, however, Leith Ford will not take any responsibility for the damage that has occurred to my engine since that mistake/error. read more

I dread buying new cars. I have always had bad experiences. Whether it's high pressure sales, inflated prices or hidden gotchas once you've decided, it's always been something. However, I needed to get a vehicle to replace my Jeep which was driving me out of house and home due to gas prices and the distances I drive on a weekly basis. I asked a very good friend who works in the automotive industry for a recommendation and he told me, without hesitation, to call Leith Ford. I did and from the initial call through my eventual purchase, they were nothing but professional, helpful and accommodating. They listened to what I needed, provided suggestions and didn't hesitate when the car that I found in their inventory needed to be brought back from Greensboro because it had been moved off the lot the day before. They gave me a truly outstanding price and treated me more than fairly on my trade-in. All in all, it was the best experience I've ever had buying a vehicle. No pressure, just good customer service and good people. In particular, I worked with Steve Jones and Sherry Timberlake. Both were extremely helpful. Steve had the cars I wanted to look at up front and ready to drive when I arrived. He had an excellent route selected that was long enough to make a good assessment of the vehicles on both highway and two-lane roads. Additionally, he's just good people and I enjoyed the the company and conversation while we were doing the testdrive. I'm not really a people person so, I normally don't like spending time in a small space with people I don't know but, Steve made me feel comfortable and gave me the time and space I needed to drive the cars without feeling like I was being pressured. Sherry helped me get the paperwork done after I had made my decision and she was very helpful in explaining all my options and what extras were available without making it seem like I was being pressured into any upsale. It was by far the easiest and most pleasant experience I've ever had selecting and purchasing a vehicle. All in all, this was truly a 5-star experience for me. When I buy my next car, whether for myself or my daughters, I will be going to Leith Ford. I understand now why my buddy was so quick to recommend them and I would not hesitate to do the same. I called to make an appointment for recall on Mercury vehicle and asked if I could bring it in that day. The service department stated just bring it in and may take an hour or so. I was greeted at my car when I arrived by service and was treated like you want to be as if they were grateful to bring your business there and what can we do to help you. I was guided to the lounge area and sat down with another three people. Before I could even settle in I was within 20 minutes ready to go. Now I am not a dealership guy and frankly I usually do not look forward to going to them, but I have to say they made me feel at ease. Overall I was pleased with the purchase of my used 2011 Mazda 3. That being said, here are the pros/cons of my experience: Pros: Skiler Burke, Internet Sales - Called me within minutes of my Internet inquiry on the vehicle I was interested in; continued to return my calls ASAP throughout the process until I was turned over to the sales rep. She's a keeper. Scott Trew, Salesman - Customer focused; allowed me to keep the car overnight to have my mechanic perform a pre-purchase inspection so I wouldn't have to miss work; promised me in writing that (dealer) repairs would be done within 30 days of purchase at no inconvenience to me, i.e. they would pick my car up, leave me a loaner, have the repairs completed and return. Added bonus was when they were washing the car while I was in the finance office, Scott had the gas tank filled. Nice touch and put a smile on my face going out the door. Who doesn't appreciate that these days? Financing - Quick, professional, easy. Price - I did my research on this vehicle so I have no complaints here as the price was quoted "out the door" without all the bs that normally comes in between buyer and seller so common at dealerships. Cons: I had to go to the repair shop myself so they could match the fabric (they are only open 8:30am-5:00pm which makes it hard when you work 8:00am-5:00pm in RTP). Long story short - took way longer than 30 days and had to make contact a few times to make this happen. When it was time to do the repair, Scott said I just needed to make an appointment, and I asked "what about you all coming to get the car and leaving a loaner?" - he didn't remember saying that but quickly agreed that they would do this for me. He was professional and courteous. Sweet gentleman returned the car to me in the pouring rain but didn't attach the missing tow hook cover they replaced. I couldn't figure it out either, so I have to make a trip to the Mazda dealership to see if they can show me how to attach the piece. Minor inconvenience. read more

Scott Trew and Leith Ford are by far the best Ford dealership in the Triangle area...if not the state. When I was shopping around for a dealer who knew about the 2016 Ford Focus RS, Scott was one of the few that knew of the Focus RS and Leith Ford showed their integrity by not charging an ADM - as several dealers stated they either were going to or were thinking about doing so. I would recommend Leith Ford to anyone considering buying a new Ford or even an used car - as they are straight shooters and genuinely care about their customer base. I talked with these folks for several days making a deal on a new Mustang. After several phone calls, texts, and emails a deal was made and I was scheduled to pick up the car on April 21. After taking off work and renting a car to drive the 300 miles to the dealership I was told they had made a mistake in the price. A $6,000 mistake!! Seems they had "accidentally" gave me the rebates AND the 0% financing which you can only have one or the other. I was told sorry for the misunderstanding better luck next time. read more

By far the worst customer experience I have ever had working with a dealership. Had my 2015 Ford Fusion in a few months ago for an ignition coil replacement as well as 4 spark plugs. As of yesterday the engine is dead and needs to be replaced because the spark plugs were never switched. Thus causing the 3rd cylinder plug to break while in the cylinder sending pieces into the valve shaft. Worst part is that Leath Ford Service department isn't taking any blame for poor work that was "done" on my vehicle. All I'm getting out of it is a reimbursement check for the money paid for the parts that were never used. I would expect so much better for a company that prides itself on customer service and experience at their location. read more

Terrible service department. They will run up your "Diagnostic Fees" at close to $150/hr. I was told after $400 in Diagnostic fees that a part was needed that Leith they were not even able to get. The part was "back-ordered with no ETA." I asked if there was any way they could try other ways to source one. A cold "No" was all I got in return. So, after this part was replaced, they would then "continue diagnostic testing" Again, at close to $150/hr. I spoke with a friend and was recommended another shop. I paid my $400 (450 after tax) bill and left without any work being done. The second shop was able to diagnose the problem within an hour. Not only that, but they found my oil filter was loose. That oil filter was done BY LEITH! I have pictures of oil running down the side of the filter! So, now the new shop found the issue in a reasonable amount if time, they also suggested replacing another part which seemed faulty. Both the part that "needed" to be replaced and the suggested part were replaced and I no longer have any issues. AND the OEM part was able to be ordered within a couple days, without issue. I went back to Leith to see if they had anything to say regarding this enormous "diagnostic" bill and I simply had a "I support my mechanics and stand by what they did" It's easy to say when you are not the one paying the bill...and to tell me that the part needed wasn't even available was unbelievable. Especially when the second shop had no issue sourcing a new OEM part in no time. And the fact that they seemed to not even care about losing a future customer over, maybe $200 +/- is ridiculous. So, now, not only will I never get my vehicle serviced there, I will never purchase a vehicle from them, nor recommend them to anyone interested in any vehicle that a Lieth Dealer sells. So, after all that...No, I do not recommend them, nor will I ever return to buy a vehicle from ANY Lieth dealership. read more

We found a car we were interested online and before they had a chance to run it through reconditioning. But wow, reading other reviews about Leith and Harry makes me think that they aren't the same people. We had four problems with our purchase: 1. Harry gave us apprehensive, hostile, and dismissive answers when we were negotiating on the car. All we wanted to do was understand the value of the vehicle. That requires an understanding of the features, competitor pricing, bluebook value, etc. We were polite and courteous. 2. They have no consideration for your time. The wife and I had to do our search with our 20 month old in tow. Obviously, a disruption to his routine is challenging, and planning ahead of time is the most effective way to avoid potential problems. We were supposed to get the car after work, and Harry said they would have the reconditioning started "first thing in the morning". He assured us it would be ready when we came by. The wife checked in during the afternoon, and it was on track supposedly. We showed up and Harry said it wasn't ready. He said he was expecting us at 6PM. It was 5:52PM. No big deal. The wife, our son, and I went to the toddler play area inside to try to keep the little guy pacified. Shortly after 6PM Harry came by and said he was expecting us by 6:15PM. A brief time later he walked back by and said that he was really expecting us around 6:20-6:25PM, but the car would be ready very soon. He came by again at 6:30PM and told us the technicians just got the tool they needed to finish the job. 3. During reconditioning they scratched the car in several places. I am - 100% - absolutely - positive - that the scratches didn't exist prior. Harry tried to tell me they did, but after a brief conversation I got him to agree that the damage was new. 4. They don't care enough to respond to your feedback. I made attempts to contact management, which included sending an email to the general manager and service manager regarding our experience. Again, I was polite and courteous, but I documented the whole encounter. I haven't heard a word back from them. We still ended up with a car that we like, and any one of these issues isn't the end of the world. Taken as a whole, it indicates a dealership that just doesn't care. If they will lie to you about little things, can you trust their sincerity on something with consequences? Take your money to somebody that does care. We will not be returning to Leith brand dealerships. We should have walked away. read more

I purchased a used Lincoln from Leith Ford of Wendell and I drove 5 hours to pick up the car. I had trusted that the car had went through service and even had the salesmen check the car over and made sure everything was working properly before driving 5 hours to purchase it. I was told everything was working and the car was in good condition. I made the 5 hour trip arriving before the dealership closed. When I had arrived the windshield was busted that I was not informed about Prior to arriving. Did the paper work and left with the car they took $200 off towards the windshield replacement which ended up being $650 to replace. On the 5 hour drive home the heating and radio controls had a mind of its own changing the temp to hot and high making the car undrivable because it would not change from hot or turn off and if you did get it off it would come on randomly back to hot and high. I called the sales man informed him waited a week, called again and spoke to a manager he offered to trade it on or look into helping with the cost to fix the car. As I took it to my local dealer and they told me it was a touch control panel that needed to be replaced. Sent a video to the manager I spoke to showing the car was not drivable as the controls are on the fritz, you can't drive in 90 degree weather with the car also set to high and fan on high. Waited another 2 weeks and no response. Called again and spoke to another manager and he informed me that after he spoke to the other manager and salesmen that the car is as is and they would be happy to take the car in on trade for another car but for trade in value not what I just purchased the car for plus all the fees the that would come along with another car purchase. Or option 2 was for me to have the car fixed at my cost. Would not recommend buying here I have bought a few cars before seeing them and in good faith the car has been ok or if not the dealership has made things right to keep a happy customer. This dealership has sold me a car that I have had for a month that I have not been able to drive and has pretty much said thanks for buying a car from us and now your on your own. We've been dealing with this dealership for quite a while between several different vehicles. As most of us Ford owners know we get what we pay for.... we have an used Escape that has given us nothing but trouble from day one, overall most would say it's a pretty decent vehicle, however it's broken down about 4-5 times since we purchased it 1.5 yrs ago from Carmax. Recently we brought it in to Leith Ford for inside cargo light not turning off. They diagnosed it as a bad right rear door latch. We purchased the switch for $210 and replaced it ourselves, no resolution with inside cargo light, the light would not shut off. We were very aggravated and decided to return the part. Leith Ford gave us the refund with no question. I took a half day off the other day to lay around and relax and decide to call Leith Ford one last time to get a full description on this part... all I wanted to know was the part the wrong one or was it faulty??? The Parts Manager John was all over this issue, very professional, I didn't get testy or anything, he was concerned. Within minutes he had discussed the issue with long-time Service Consultant Pam and they agreed to allow us to bring the Escape in for reevaluation at no charge. That says alot!!! Me being a Manager of an office that evaluates Customers' equipment as well, you need to be considerate that you may have missed something and you need to absorb an evaluation to correct a problem. I wrote this review in respect for hard working locals that deserve it. I must say, you did us right this time around. You checked our vehicle once more and found a shorted wire in the original latch that needed soldering. You repaired it for free, considering we paid an eval fee prior. Continue this honest service practice and people will be running back forever. You gave us an appreciation of FORD once again that hasn't been there for quite some while. This was my first encounter at this location. As a repeat Leith customer, this location was not as wonderful as the Cary Auto park experience I've had before. While I know my situation was unique and had challenges with trade, customer service and follow up were poor. I never got asked if I could put more cash down, structure the deal differently, nothing. The sales manager never held true to his promise with a follow up. His behavior to our call when I called him out on his poor customer service was less than desirable too. You're the expert sir, why promise a call back and not deliver? I wasted 4 hours of my day, 80 miles round trip to travel, and the entire following business day held hostage to no end with no specific reason as to why they could not make a deal happen. My fault was expecting more from this location than promised. If they could just be honest and say from the get go this won't work, correct expectations set. Why go through all the motions of paperwork, fueling up the new vehicle and then nothing happens, we'll call you by noon Monday. His call was after 7p once he heard I was not happy in the lack of response. Way to go to waste my time and expectations. I would not recommend this location to any of my referral partners. read more
