Hidden Lake is a great serene park for having lunch, watching ducks, and a great place to exercise…read more Get your steps in at this park by walking around the lake or if you go up the steps there is a pathway that is nicely paved. Ride your bike around the lake or if you have a little one have them burn their energy riding a bike, scooter, or roller skate. Plenty of people are there especially in the morning so I have always felt safe. I have seen some people fish here at different times of the day. Due to being part of a community, there are a ton of guest parking (especially near the gates to this park) BUT if you keep driving, the parking lot for this "park" is on the outside (you turn in with the sign "HIDDEN PARK LAKE" in green lettering/tanish brown background and there are a few spots for you to pick from). Two stairways up to other flat cement ground trails. Very quarry lake vibes but not much water. Lake itself is a smaller circular flat cement ground leveled trail. Regarding up the stairs: One way does end up at another park whereas the other way just ends up in another neighborhood/main road. Lack of shade. Lots of ducks. There's few places to sit. Few trash bins. No visible toilets.

With the auto belay, it's easier to clip on and just climb, so you can climb more reps also. Friendly staff. I learned some new tips from the belay test as their system is just a bit different from what I'm used to, but I love learning so it was great. Easy parking. Please come and create your own experience.

Remember those days in the playground and their climbing structures? Well, as an adult, The Peak is the place to reignite that hobby and enjoy the sport with a rich community of professionals and enthusiasts. This huge facility is shared among The Peak's climbing structures, an indoor volleyball court, a casual restaurant, and a small arcade. There aren't many parking spots up front but around the back of the building, you'll see plentiful spots. Once you enter the building, head to the left through the glass doors where you'll see the many climbing walls speckled with multiple colored protrusions. The pricing is transparent and it's all available upfront. They do have day passes, multi-visit passes as well as memberships that will waive your entrance fee. In addition to the entrance fee, you may also be required to pay for the harness and shoe rentals (members get a discounted price). They also have chalk for the more advanced climbers. If it's your first time, consider completing the waiver online ahead of time. You may be asked to go through a quick orientation regarding the use of their auto-belay system, however if you already know how to belay traditionally, they may ask you to go through additional training just to be sure. Each wall seemed to feature a variety of colors to distinguish the different difficulty levels for more advanced climbers. Aside from the walls, they also have a huge structure designed for bouldering with a thick padded floor underneath. The boulder and auto-belay walls seemed the most popular but it didn't seem there was much waiting given the ample space in the facility. There was certainly enough climbing space for everyone. As a novice, the activity was fun and tiring; there's definitely a balance between technique and strength! Despite having entry for the whole day, we definitely were tired out within an hour of constant climbing and by hour two, it was just about time to leave and refuel. Fortunately, the location of this space is quite convenient due to having a restaurant right on site as well as its proximity to the highway and other eateries just a few minutes away. The staff were friendly and informative. Besides the initial onboarding, there wasn't much interaction with them. They seem to keep things organized, cleaned and well-maintained. Overall, The Peak does a fantastic job introducing the sport of climbing to the local community and providing a clean and safe environment for newbies and experts alike. The price is reasonable for an all day activity and even more so if you become a member. For kids, they also have camps to build a new passion and train them up as climbers. For the more serious climbers, you may want to consider investing in the equipment to further save on the rentals. If this is a new challenge for you, take the opportunity to get in on this sport! The Peak makes it relatively easy to pick this up and continue leveling up with each visit!

It has a fountain around which there are shrubs of different colored roses. So many people were sitting around- sitting, talking. The surprising thing was people were actually sitting and talking - no phones. The roses smelled nice, I sat down for a bit and chased my toddler around. The only picture I took was of the fountain. The place was so mesmerizing I forgot about the phone. My friend told me she also brings picnics here and I thought that was a wonderful idea. I will try it another time. But this place is really incredible. They don't allow professional photography here but you are welcome to take your own pictures. Pets are also not allowed here. Parking is easy as it's a neighborhood and you can find spots around. Highly recommend for some quiet reflective time or when you just want to take a break from screens. This place will make you forget about your phone and reels.

I was initially a little anxious that the sunlight would be too harsh since the area is mostly exposed, but the lighting ended up being perfect and really helped create the dreamy, ethereal vibe we were hoping for in our photos! However, even though we went in the early evening, the temperature was still in the high 80s/low 90s, so definitely bring plenty of water to stay hydrated! We drove to the area marked as "Top of the Hill, Del Valle Rd" and there was plenty of parking available along the side of the road, which made it really convenient to get to our photoshoot location. Unfortunately, there aren't any bathrooms at this spot, so definitely plan accordingly before heading up! Overall, such a beautiful location for photos and I'm so glad we chose to come here for our maternity shoot!

The sites were huge and even better there was plenty of flat ground for pitching tents. Showers and bathroom facilities deeper in the campground towards site 39 were very clean and very new. The hot showers were also super warm and the best part is no coins. The bathrooms themselves also seemed to be heated so even in the cold october evenings, you were warm inside the bathroom. We did not go down to the water due to blue algae, but there was still plenty of things to do for the kids as they loved being able to ride all around the grounds on their bikes. Fire pits in the evening were also very clean and had plenty of airflow to make good bonfires. There were regular patrols from the rangers and the east bay regional parks police, it all felt very safe. Just be advised that there's plenty of wildlife in the evenings and they do not seem like they are scared of people. We had a family of four raccoons in the tree at our site and there was also a skunk that visited and got within a few feet away from us one night. Thankfully it lost interest and left, otherwise we would have been in trouble. There were also deer and squirrels to be seen. Please watch out for rattlesnakes as well, we stumbled upon one on the road while biking around the camp ground. Make sure all food including uncooked pasta noodles are stored in a safe location overnight Otherwise, the animals will get into it. No bear boxes at the sites, so may need to store things in your vehicle. All in all everyone had a fantastic time and the kids loved it. We'll be back next year.
