Matt was our waiter - he was kind, attentive, and really good about helping me find something I'd like around my egg allergy. My dining partner got a Mahi Sandwich with fries. She said it was grilled perfectly and juicy - she was VERY pleased. I had shrimp tacos - I eyed that first but was hesitant because of my egg allergy, but lucky for me there was zero egg to be had so no reason to alter the order! THEY WERE SOOOOO good!!! It came with a side of plain tortilla chips, they were boring but fine (I only ate one, the shrimp taco portion was plenty for my appetite). The dish came with a little cup of pico. The tacos didn't need it. IMO, it wasn't enough to use for the chips, I'm sure I could have gotten more if I was hungry enough to have eaten the chips They've got a slew of TVs around, I could easily see 6 or 7 from my seat. The shrimp needed to make a stronger appearance! Still, the flavors were good. The Birria Taco: Oh, how I wanted to love this one! Unfortunately, by the time I got to it, I think I was already too full to truly appreciate it. I couldn't even finish it, so I may have to give it another chance. The Rice and Refried Beans: Now THESE two belong together! The rice alone needed a little something extra, but paired with the refried beans? Chef's kiss! Overall, this was such a fun and unexpected Tuesday night out! The day's lunch special included a delicious plantain soup. The broth was especially flavorful. The soup came first and then shortly afterwards came the entree. The plate had salad, cilantro rice, half a boiled potato, and a thigh/leg quarter chicken topped with a creole sauce. The chicken was quite tender. As the portion was so large, I wound up taking most of my soup home and half of my meal. We shared some very good flan with lots of caramel sauce and whipped cream for dessert. The guy at the neighboring table had a meat plate with blood sausage, chicarones, and churrasco. I'm not a sausage person, but the crispy pork and the steak looked delicious.
