This is one of the main hangouts east of the campus area along with the Rose Bowl which is next to here and always has music on weekends. Come chill. It's about $5 to get basic mixers like Jameson and whatever. Food is better than expected. It's about $11 for an entree like a burger. These come with a side. I got a Veggie Burger. The coolest thing is they have a toppings bar where you can top it with onions, pickles, or whatever. Loaded it up and it was a glorious mess. The rest of the menu has other sandwiches including grilled cheese, Reubens, and others. For sure it's a classic and there's plenty more things coming. It's located on Water among some back alleys and other unassuming places. The best times are weekends when there's music and stuff.

The quality makes avoiding this probably the best idea. Good place for watching a game. It isn't even bad watching the Illini in here because it's small and not as many people are in here. It's $0.80 an ounce, which is one of the more expensive ones. Can bring food in here. They also have free popcorn. Have to know there's no special events before going or you will have to pay a cover. Has notes of caramel, nuts, and toast and is complex yet easy. The other beers are great but often many aren't available because they have smaller batches of these. Great place to get local beers and more mature flavors. It's closed Mondays. This is located on Griggs close to the creek, and while there's no food, there's a few places close to get to by walking.

To start off I must say that I didn't come to this place expecting much, I simply needed a place to unwind after spending the entire week figuring out my school schedule and job search. I went to this place last night at around 7pm to have a couple beers and contend with my former significant other over the phone in privacy over the phone in which I later went to the back patio to do so since there wasn't anyone else back there and I smoke. However, when I initially went into the restaurant and sat down at the front booth of the bar I literally had to wait 10-15 minutes just for a bartender to take notice of the fact that I was there while the other bartenders were quickly taking care of other customers who had sat down after the fact. Not only did I feel invisible to the staff, I was finally taken care of by the restaurants manager who didn't seem to care for my attitude which I admit I was a bit snippy but I told him the circumstance as to why. I then got to the back patio and eventually get into an escalated conversation with my former significant other over the phone and in fragment japanese just to not draw negative attention towards myself. While in my own bubble I did notice that some of the workers that eventually made there way to the back patio "guarding the back entryway were downing beers faster than I was. Ive never actually seen an employee drink on the job but its a bar/restaurant so I wasn't expecting first class service. Eventually, and this is where it gets really awkward, an english foreign exchange student/psychotic gingerbread man confronts me with his friend at the men's public restroom just to eavesdrop on my conversation to tell wether my conversation was to his understanding. He said that he knew Mandarin and that I was a fraud because he couldn't make out what I was saying(Mandarin/Changi is only within 1,200 characters of the Japanese alphabet so its not like its a language that encompasses another. Like seriously, WTF!?!?!?!?!?!?!? Why would someone follow another person into the bathroom just to listen to their phone conversation? I spoke in another language to avoid that in the first place, not to have my privacy violated by some opinionated prick who's entitlement is only backed up from his parents wealth which brought him into the U.S. in the first place. I've actually traveled to other countries as well, like when I spent time in South Korea teaching English; except I don't recall telling other people wether they were speaking proper English. In my response I simply recited "I don't know you, I don't owe you anything, I don't need to prove myself to you" several times to the point it became a mantra. I then told him that I was partly sweetish and he automatically assumed that I meant I was from there and then demanded that I proved that I could speak sweetish... I was at loss for words especially for the fact that his super extra double flamboyant male friend kept tapping my left cheek with his greasy unwashed fingers. I don't know how I was able to keep my composure at that point especially since I was cornered in the bathroom. It wasn't until (not an employee/but another friend of the two men had to drag the angry red headed fire cracker out of the bathroom. I then cussed him out in Japanese with everything I had and to my surprise the guy was shocked. Once I had left the bathroom on my own accord I was then confronted by the restaurant manager to leave the restaurant which I immediately complied since I didn't want to draw any further negative attention towards myself even though I felt I was unjustly accused of starting an issue that I had no control over preventing. After I had left and went back to my apartment I called the store just to try to clear things up because I was embarrassed. The Manager (West) told me that it was because of the circumstance that had transpired as well as the fact that he said I was being rude to the staff(even though the only person who had taken my order who I was rude to was him because I was kind to all of the staff members and tipped in cash as well; he probably just wanted to use it as an excuse to uphold his point of view) and that I was speaking in tongues. Just because someone doesn't look like they are from a different culture doesn't mean they can't speak another language other than Spanish you prejudice jerk(never said that to him but I wanted to). I then told the manager that I was going to file a police report because of the incident that took place at the bathroom(which was sexual harassment as well as assault&battery) which I didn't fully disclose with him because I was completely upset and uncomfortable about the situation in the first place and figured since I WILL NEVER GO TO THIS RESTAURANT AGAIN it wasn't worth explaining details. Once I got to the police station and waited for an officer to meet with me I was able to vent out my frustration and concern in coherence yet in tears because i never felt so violated. read more

This doesn't seem like a campus bar to me. First of all, the food is great. I have eaten there 7 times in the last 2 months and my food has been great every time. Granted, it's not steak and lobster but it is a step above the other bar food available in campustown. Second, the place is clean. I don't know how they manage to look good whether it's a sunday afternoon or a packed saturday night. Third, they have tons of seating. I hate the bars on campus that have a 500 person capacity and only 50 seats. Fourth, cold beer. This is a pet peeve of mine. I hate warm beer. I have not had a warm beer yet at legends. i could list other things i like about this bar but you get the picture. read more

Legends is unquestionably one of my favorite bars on the University of Illinois campus. It is, by far, the cleanest bar on campus with a friendly, respectful, and hard working staff of employees. The food is delicious and service is fast, and the bar has the biggest drink selection on campus! Legends is a great authentic sports atmosphere with plasmas, Big Ten school flags, pool tables, and various arcade games. It is a great place to go for the afternoon and evening hours to relax with friends or watch the Illini play. read more

Great food and drink selection! They also have amazing drink specials daily - $2 white russians on Thursdays is by far my favorite. Most campus bars barely put any alcohol in their mixed drinks (unless you know the bartender) but Legends drinks are definitely potent. Its also very clean, especially compared to places like Kams/Joe's.... Also has a great atmosphere for a a night out with a few friends or a group - it has a lot of seating and is quiet enough to hold a conversation! read more

Hopefully Yelp won't delete this as they have other reviews during the pandemic. The State of Illinois is not allowing indoor dining right now. It is a violation of public health. People have a right to know of public health violations. Ordered takeout last night. Went in to pick it up to find 20-30 people eating, drinking , and smoke (another public health violation) inside. Legends is the perfect destination for food during the day or drinks at night. I recommend the cheeseburgers. They have lots of food options for all tastes will serve a side salad instead of fries. Tuesday night is definitely the craziest night there but it is always a good option for the weekends, especially when there are lines at every other bar. Moreover, the drink specials and bottled beer selection top any other campus bar. read more

My favorite bar on campus! Great place to hangout during lunch after class and so fun at night. Tuesday's Ride the Rail at Legends are soo much fun, and with $2 drafts its affordable. The bartenders are very attentive and I get served much quicker here than other bars on campus where I have to wait 20 min just to get a beer. The food is awesome too. She took our order quickly and checked on us often. The food was fresh and hot, the Philly cheesesteak was huge. Prices for the entire menu were very reasonable. The only reason I didn't give this place 5 stars was the country music and uncomfortable stares from the locals.
