I can never say enough about how awesome these donuts are. They do a pretty good job of keeping a solid stock through the busiest donut times. They'll still have some stuff at closing, but not much, so get there early and get some awesome donuts. read more

Donut heaven. Their donuts are huge! Best deal is to get a dozen donuts or you'll be paying bank for each piece. My only gripe is how they packaged my dozen. They stacked some on top of ones that had glaze and toppings on them, so when we removed the top donuts, they pulled off layers of stuff from the bottom donuts. Sad face. I didn't have my Damn Credit card on me and then saw their crummy little sign on the door stating Credit only, so I told her put um back. I have been coming here for years. Their legendary doughnuts are huge in size Compared to the average doughnut. Thus, Their doughnut balls is a staple to the children in our family. They especially love the mini flinstones (doughnut dipped in fruity pebbles cereal). Their doughnuts vary from time to time depending on the season. I have experienced that they have peak hours thus, some of the options sell out fast However, I have also been lucky to have their employees offer to make if they have their the ingredients or extras in the back. Hassled about not having a mask but the guest before me had no issues or trouble with staff with no mask with his order. Racist, favoritism or lack of consistency? Ordered $10-$15 worth of donuts. Wouldn't take a $50. They were happy to take a card with an additional 3% fee. Asked them to waive the additional 3% fee since I had offered cash. They refused so I left the box & bag of donuts. This place is truly legendary. The service, the food and the stores themselves are great! It doesn't matter how busy they are,the employees always make sure you understand what you're getting. Keep in mind the menu always changes. So if you have a favorite, it's a good idea to call to see if they even have it. Also, the donuts tend to be huge unless you're getting the donut holes which are impeccably tasty. The coffees are great, too if you're into specialty coffees. I don't want to explain what makes them unique and why you need to visit. But trust me when I tell you that any famous donuts don't have nothing in this place. We have lived in Lakeland Hills for eight years, and therefore are regulars at LD. I hate to give businesses less than stellar reviews, and I keep hoping LD's will change, however they can't seem to get it together! Great doughnuts, but not so great customer service. They are almost always understaffed, and every single employee I've ever encountered has zero social skills. No smiles, very flat affects, minimal eye contact, and never a quick "thank you for waiting, I will be with you as soon as I can"! And this has been the case for years. I'd love to give a better rating, but can't convince myself to do so after today's, once again, disappointing (and looong, due to only one employee in house) visit. Maybe after reading this review, the owners will consider educating their employees with better customer service skills??? read more

The whole menu isn't available, as the different doughnuts are rotated on a regular basis, so don't expect to find all the doughnuts you want on any given day. Still, their selection should give you more than enough options. I took part in their Groupon deal they had a while back, which let me have a choice of a dozen doughnuts (four from each of their three 'tiers' of doughnuts which range from Amateur to Legendary). Legendary choices like the Oprah (bacon-topped maple bar) were fantastic, although part of me hoped for strips of bacon rather than bacon bits. Mid-tier ones like the da Vinci, your standard vanilla-frosted doughnut with sprinkles, were also great. Heck, even the 'Amateur'-ranked ones like the standard maple bar or old fashioned were better than you'd expect given their title. The doughnuts are larger than what you'll find at your standard supermarket bakery. The maple bars are huge and the old fashioned were glazed well enough to have a nice crunch/crispiness to them. If you get a dozen, they also come in a massive box that really makes you realize the size of what you're getting. I'm not really sure what their prices are like since I took advantage of a coupon, but rest assured that you're not getting dinky, bland doughnuts for your dollar. I was on a vacation recently to the Puyallup area to visit some in laws and was yelping the local cuisine when I came across Legendary doughnuts and the great reviews they had! Well I don't know bout you but me loves to try new doughnut, pastries and bakery's in a new area. Low and behold Legendary doughnuts lived up to my expectations and more. Our small group of 4 tried and shared several different types of doughnuts my all time favorite was the bear claw w peanut butter and jelly inside and looked like a catchers mitt yeah!! The next one would have been the double chocolate doughnut. If I could I'd still be there sampling each one to many to choose from! I'll defiantly be back one day!! read more

Voodoo Doughnut (in Portland, Oregon) inspired Shannon Patten, the general manager, to create amazing doughnuts of her own in Washington. And to think, if a pro eater never went here to do Legendary Doughnuts' 1 lb. doughnut contest (see below), I probably wouldn't have heard about this place for a while, if ever. The "Oprah" is their bestseller, a maple-glazed bar, topped with crispy bacon. The size may intimidate some people, but not this panda. All it did was make me even happier. Amazingly light and airy, and the abundance of meat crack on top was foodgasmic material. You couldn't make the bacon any more perfect for me than what I received here. Crispy, yet not burned. Pair it with that maple glaze and you've subdued a panda to a lengthy hibernation. I'd call this better than Voodoo Doughnut's rendition just because of the bacon. Otherwise, it's virtually equal. For the speed eater, they have a 1-pound doughnut contest. It's held for about a one-month period from April to May. The person with the fastest overall time in that time frame wins $250! It's similar to Voodoo's Tex-Ass doughnut challenge, but at least Legendary Doughnuts gives you five minutes and whatever you want to drink (it's just 80 seconds at Voodoo with a Dixie cup of water). However, no doughnut dunking here. The winning time last year was about 2:02. On May 3, 2012, Randy Santel, a professional eater from Kansas City, wolfed down this huge doughnut in 1:46! Check out his video on Randy's business Facebook page or on Legendary Doughnuts' Facebook page! Amazingly, another guy, Evan Denmark, came in on Mother's Day and beat Randy's time...1:36! Unbelievable. Me? I could eat that entire doughnut. Just not in under two minutes. Five minutes *could* be doable, but man, that's a lot of chewing even with liquids (no dunking allowed). Unique, decently priced doughnuts without having to drive to Portland! I tried the "Red Riding Hood" (Cake doughnut with raspberry jam) and it was good but HUGE and too sweet. My fiancé had the "Yogi Bear" (filled with peanut butter and jelly) and felt the same way. The real winners in my eye were the doughnut balls! I selected a box of 18 to take to work with me. They are basically the size of a half of a regular doughnut and it's the perfect size. Almost all the regular doughnut flavors came on the balls and they had a nice selection. My fiancé also got a carton of local chocolate milk which was amazing, and it was cute to see that they have little sweets for dogs too! The employee was friendly and informative. For my first time at Legendary Doughnuts, I enjoyed a Raspberry glazed, raised doughnut. Although, with the style of the doughnuts, you can't help but compare this place to Voodoo's in Portland. They have a great selection: The Oprah (A maple bacon bar), Dark Chocolate Hazelnut, Lake Tapps (Blueberry icing, with gummy fish swimming on top, and more. The gentleman behind the counter will make a doughnut for you if they happen to be out. Service was pretty decent. Price range for doughnuts are from .99 to 1.69. For 1.39, you can even decorate your own doughnut. It's a hip spot; when I arrived only a few people were there. But once seated and after my first bite, they were entering a rush. Well....... I was super pleased with the "Oprah" doughnut which was a raised maple glazed, covered in bacon bits... it was lovely! They do offer miniatures of all the doughnuts which I found especially appealing. I ended up with three different minis and even though they were out of the miniature maple bacon they made one just for me, which I really appreciated. The other three minis were: buttermilk glazed, peanut butter and jelly stuffed raised, and apple fritter, all were very nice. The apple fritter not so much, the buttermilk fab. The atmosphere is very sexy with black memu boards and chandeliers.... beautiful! My friend, singer, and host Nich A. (also a Yelper and foodie) got the larger version of the Oprah, snicker, caramel apple, and pumpkin cheesecake. All of which got thumbs up! As someone who is a rock solid fan of Voodoo Donuts down in Portland, this is the next best thing that does not require a 3 hour drive one way! I usually get a mixed dozen and let them choose the flavors. I have had nothing but compliments when I bring them in to work. If there is a complaint it generally has to do with the fact the donuts are so large they can not be consumed in one sitting!!! I also pick up a dozen of the donut holes for myself to snack on and each bite is like a little piece of heaven you just want to savor throughout the day. This is a special treat and truly a great find!!! read more

Granted I was here for one thing: the Oprah (maple bar with bacon), I found it to be a cool boutique doughnut shop. It's a good find in Lakeland Hills if you're looking for premium and creative doughnuts. It's the only place of it's kind in the south end, so I'm sure that is why it's so popular. In comparison to the likes of Frost and Voodoo, it has similarities and holds it's own, although Voodoo is still on another level. Creative combinations, fun names, pretty good doughnuts that lean towards the sweet side, and pretty friendly staff. The portions are generous as well as the icing when it comes to the doughnuts. We've heard some pretty incredible things about Legendary from friends and coworkers, and as soon as we saw the Groupon for this place we knew the fates had finally aligned and doughnuts were in our future. We headed out to Auburn yesterday to snag a few giant pillows of deep-fried goodness. It's located at the end of a tiny strip mall in a busy shopping center. The location has giant windows that lit the place up. If it were overcast I could see this place with it's dark walls and features looking a bit gloomy. The patrons in this place were all super friendly. Everyone was offering their favorite suggestions (even without prompting) which was nice. It made it feel like a local neighborhood place. There were two guys and a girl working when we arrived. One guy that was taking orders and filling trays and boxes, and other guy that was ringing people up, and finally a girl that was working in the back that popped out to make sure we were all being helped. We ended up with a Chocolate Bar, a Dirty Doughnut, two Doughsants - a Peanut Butter Chocolate + a Caramel Sea Salt Doughsant, Caramel Sea Salt Pretzel, a Coasties ("Glazed doughnut filled w/imported English Coastal Cheddar Cheese and crispy bacon pieces"), and, of course, an Oprah. The Chocolate Bar was fluffy and generously glazed, not to mention enormous. The Coastie was even bigger, fluffy, the cheese was melted (because the taller guy that helped us suggested that he should warm it up for us - how NICE is that?), and the bacon was smoky and fatty in only the way bacon can be. The other doughnuts are on the counter in our kitchen. We have yet to delve into them, but that's also because we didn't think 40,000 calories in a sitting were in our best interest... Side notes: 1. There's a picture of an Oprah on Yelp that indicates that they're using a fourth as much bacon as they once did. 2. And the Doughsants weren't that great, but that being said, Yeast doughnuts are usually more my jam. We'll be back one day. I think we're going to have to figure out a workout regimen to justify getting one of those doughnut birthday cakes... You heard me right. They have doughnut birthday cakes! read more

Oh f*ck, y'all. It. Went. Down. Great sophisticated yet relaxed atmosphere. Like a burlesque. With donuts. I had the Bourbon Street, which could could've had more bourbon glaze and pecans, but I'm not complaining. Donut shop #2, we've tried since we have started to crave donuts all of a sudden. For a dozen or half-dozen of donuts, it was way too over-priced. The prices for individual donuts aren't bad though, they're actually quite reasonable. I had the Red Velvet (Scarlet O'Hara) which the cake was a little dry, but I liked that it was topped with chocolate icing as well as the cream cheese icing, and it wasn't excessive either. But I do recommend it. I prefer Frost Doughnuts over Legendary, but sadly, Mill Creek is a little too far for me. read more

I love Legandary Doughnuts. I also love Voodoo Doughnuts in Portland. For me however, comparing the 2 doughnuts shops is like comparing apples and oranges. Completely different- but both with amazing doughnut creations. Until a friend introduced us to this place, I would pass on doughnuts (unless said doughnut was from Voodoo) because *normal* doughtnuts aren't typically my thing. If I am going to eat junk food, I'd rather it be something else. That was until we had our first *LEGENDARY* doughnut. That changed everything. Now, every time I am thinking of treating myself to something yummy I will drive (no matter how far) to pick out an extraordinary doughnut. Instead of a birthday cake this past year, I told my husband, "no cake- I want a legendary doughnut." When my husband when to pick out my birthday doughnut he told them that I had requested a birthday doughnut instead of cake the girl working there put my doughnut aside from the rest in it's own box and decorated the box to make it even more special for me... Without being asked. That's service. They have something for everyone here. Adorable doughnuts for kids and more sophisticated flavor combinations for adults. I've even seen fancy dog treats. Every doughnut we've had has been delicious. My husband loves the Oprah (the one that is designed after Voodoo's bacon maple bar) and a few of our other favorites are the Scarlet O'Hara, fritters and the Sex in the City. They have also had a few different types of seasonal pumpkin flavored ones lately that are to die for! The store itself is cute, pretty small, but very charming (considering it's in a strip-mall). I had an Amazon local deal (the twenty dollar g/c for ten dollars), and like other people have said--the drive out to this place is almost a deal-breaker. Lakeland is almost in the middle of nowhere, despite being on a busy traffic corridor. The shop is pretty, the teenaged counter people are super sweet and nice, and a person who looked like the owner (older, in charge and covered in flour) was wonderful. I gave two of the stars simply for customer service. These people are almost as customer focused as the people at Honore Bakery. We got a wide variety of everything. With twenty dollars to blow on donuts I got more than I could handle even at the artisan prices. To be honest, they were the most beautiful donuts I've ever seen. Voodoo donuts pales in comparison. These were like sparkling little gems, including the ones I still have in the box at home. But...they tasted like Safeway. I don't know what I was expecting but it wasn't a run of the mill donut base. Maybe...something a little "more". My daughter loved the decorated and filled donut holes, but then she likes cute little food, and I prefer their bacon maple bar over Voodoo because the crumbles aren't hard enough to break your teeth and don't look like a plank of petrified wood. I am a fan of crunchy and soft apple fritters. The fritter from here is very cakey and soft. The flavor was robust, but the texture was not what I expected in an apple fritter. Great presentation in all their donuts though! read more
