This is one of the most welcoming and positive communities we have ever been part of. Everyone is supportive and wants everyone to grow and get better together. The professor is really takes the time to teach the techniques not just for sport, but for self defense. A lot of juijitsu gyms will have you grappling on day one, and this can lead to injury. Here you learn the techniques first and get to grow into grappling over time. Cortes BJJ has caused my back pain to decrease and go away. My son has gained so much more confidence and self control. The notes from the teachers are not coming home anymore. If you were ever thinking of giving a martial art a shot, the martial art you are doing has become stale. Come over to Cortes BJJ and try it out. You will be so happy you did.

Every member of the staff is super friendly and engaged - of course to the degree that you reciprocate. Each trainer has their own twist, exercises, and music, but the structure of the classes are the same. They are purposefully challenging to transform your body, but beginner friendly enough to go at your own pace. After years of not exercising, I started at Atomic and could barely make it through a class. But I was able to stick with it, with some breaks, and get myself to lose over 35lbs. The hardest part is starting, but the classes become addicting the more you do it and the community/motivation from the instructors and other members helps you stay accountable. Would recommend to anyone who is serious about committing to change and wants to have an exercise they are passionate about.

Yes it is a business, but a business that is built on integrity, loyalty and professionalism. He doesn't hand out lollipops to the kids and adults in this dojo. He doesn't want to just take your money and turn out a student that thinks they know what to do but really doesn't. He wants the outcome to be faultless. He trains his students to be respectful of the practice. My daughter loves him and doesn't want to miss any classes - she goes to training 4x a week and loves it. It's a second family to her. Her confidence has immensely improved, and she is jacked now from all the hard work. She has placed first multiple times in her age category at martial arts tournaments under his tutelage. He has infinite patience when needed, but tough love when called for. This school and Mr. Rodrigues is no joke; he is very capable and competent. You will be hard pressed to find another instructor that is as competent and caring as Sensei Rui.

There is nothing better than having one on one or group training done with experienced professionals who take the time to get to know you personally. Working out doesn't feel boring like planet fitness or intimidating like some other roided out gyms I have tried in the past. (La fitness in Cranston I'm talking to you). It's nice to finally find a place with normal people who are just here to workout and have fun doing it. For a fun and varied workout I would be sure to checkout Method Fitness next time you are downtown.

Jack Hammond and I regularly met throughout the week for 60-minute training sessions. I can't emphasize this enough-- his enthusiasm, encouragement, and overall knowledge about training undoubtably helped me achieve my goals. Not only did he constantly challenge and push me to improve and train harder; but he did so with a positive attitude. Obviously just by looking at Jack, you'll be able to tell he knows a thing or two about fitness and lifting (the guy is ~~ripped~~), but what sets Jack apart from the other "bro-science" personal trainers, is that he is ACE-certified, has a bachelor's degree in kinesiology, and also has experience with college athletics. His overall understanding about fitness is all backed by his years of experience + knowledge about science-based explanations ... now I don't know about you, but I don't think I could have asked for a more qualified trainer. Due to personal obligations and a career change, I'm no longer able to train at Method as regularly. The good news is that I'll always be able to keep the lessons I've been taught on proper form, correct movements, acceptable adjustments, and lastly-- my higher and improved self-esteem.
