The cardiologist is good. It's the woman working at the front desk and answering the phone. She hates her job. It's in her tone and attitude. There was a dead time over the phone when your trying to change an appointment like where did the woman go. You have to generate any kind of communication. I had an appointment scheduled and arrived on time. After waiting for 50 minutes I inquired about the delay. It is only then that I was informed that I was not really checked-in due to some info missing. They never bothered to call my name and let me know about any issues they are having. The supervisor - Daisha Walker - could have resolved the issue in a simple and professional manner. All it takes is to apologize and say they were swamped. Instead she gave me a healthy portion of attitude and a silly lie that "computers were uncooperative", but the "workaround was found" the minute I talked to the teller. Seriously?! Being a supervisor, please reduce the attitude and learn to deal with customers as a professional. read more

Dr. Afzal has to be the most down to earth, nice and humble cardiologist I've ever met!! He took his time with me, made time to get to know me and even showed me photos of his sweet baby girl!! It was a long wait in the center but after seeing him I forgot about it because of his treatment. Not often one gets to see a Dr who treats them like a partner in the road to recovery. I have visited with the same cardiologist at this facility for over 8 years. I have had innumerable tests over the years at this location and multiple procedures by doctors from here at the Heart Hospital Plano during this time. I am very comfortable and satisfied with all, after all of these years. Now Baylor Scott & White has decided that because I live in Irving, TX, these two facilities and associated doctors are not the "Closet Available" to where I live, so I am now denied any financial assistance. I have previously receive financial assistance but BS&W appears to have changed their policy so that if you don't use THEIR facility CLOSEST to you, you are not longer qualified to receive assistance. How does this even make sense. A few additional miles of travel to stay with a known doctor who is in their system? Really?!?!?! I'll be looking at other doctors and facilities to try and address my needs in the future. read more

Like the Cardiologist - Hate the Practice My PCP referred me to Legacy Heart after an irregular EKG. I went to my initial appt. in Garland and found the Cardiologist informative. I was not happy with the nurse who is obviously in the wrong job. I was scheduled for additional testing at the Plano facility and told I would receive a call from a "finical counselor" to discuss the cost - this never happened. My costs are all out-of-pocket so, I was interested in knowing if the cost is $100 or $10,000. I called them repeatedly to get this information and, so far, they are unwilling to tell me. I'm looking for a different location for testing. read more

Total A++++ for the doctors at Legacy Heart. We brought my FIL to Plano for a 2nd opinion about his (very blocked) heart. Dr Woolbert got him in immediately for an evaluation. Dr W spent about an hour asking questions and getting to know my FIL before looking at the scans overnight with his colleagues. I really appreciate this approach - get to know the patient and you might learn some useful things the scans alone won't tell you. Dr Woolbert's colleague, Dr Potluri, did the actual procedure on my FIL. It was "tricky and complicated" because of where the blockage was, but they got it done in record time with fewer stents than anticipated. We are so thankful and have referred others to this practice. read more

They called to remind about my annual appointment. I scheduled one and was in the next week. Upon arrival I filled out my forms and was called back within 5 min. Dr Morales is always interested in how I am doing in life as well as physically. I feel he truly cares about me as a person. We addressed my concerns, he made referrals and presc refills and I was out within an hour and back to work. The location is convenient and easy to get in and out! Stress test...in and out. The techs are wonderful. I still find it strange that you have to make payment before services are rendered. What if you pay, get tired of waiting, and leave? How do you get your money back? Anyway, other than that, they were very good. I'd remove a star re: payment policies, but that seems petty. read more

I had an emergency with my heart and had to go to the Baylor Heart Hospital in Plano. This was in 2012. They were very concerned about my situation. I stayed in the ER for 8 Hrs. with two nurses and doctors coming in and out. Finally, I was moved to ICU and stayed there a week. Saw different Drs before was allowed to go home. Went home with one Dr. but did not care for him. Ended back up in ER and had the dr on call. I really did not care for him. Finally, a dr came in and I knew I really liked his concern and bedside manner. I have been with Dr David Schwartz since the latter part of 2012. I would highly recommend him. He is very concern about your care and goes a little extra for his patients. Takes time to listen to you. If I have a problem, I call his nurse. She returns my calls with an answer from him for me. I thought I was getting first class treatment previously but they surprised me again today by sending a person into the exam room to check me out after the Dr. finished. Somebody should consider taking down the mission statement - they didn't come close to exceeding my expectations. After my annual physical they called in less than an hour after I returned to work to set up a 10:00 appt for the next day. 10:00 is the only time mentioned on the call, and it was mentioned more than once. I arrived at 10, checked in and sat down to fill out paperwork. In just a couple minutes I was called back and informed that my appt was actually at 9:30 and that I would have to reschedule. It was made clear to me that this mixup was my fault, even though I'm quite certain it wasn't. I rebooked for the next day. That day things went smoothly up front, but when checking out the person left to check a bit of info with my heart doctor and didn't wander back for nearly 20 minutes, without the answer she had left to get. The actual visit with my heart doc was as enjoyable as these things can be, but my impression is that the office staff is harried, unmotivated, and not very organized. I wouldn't choose to come here, but my MD clearly loves the place so I humor him. If you have options you might want to explore them. read more

The doctors and nurses at this facility are fine. The medical assistants (who we unfortunately have to communicate through when we have questions or concerns) are simply horrible. Truly horrible. The MA's are rude and lack basic understanding of cardiovascular conditions/tests associated with their positions and are incredibly dismissive. I recently had to call in following an ER visit and had questions about some lab work. I had to ask the MA to have a nurse call me because she was unable to answer a basic level question on her own (after my rephrasing it 5 times...yes, FIVE). After our call, she THOUGHT she had hung up...she hadn't. I overheard her BASHING me to her co-worker saying that I was a "pain in the ass" and saying "I ain't doin' shit for her"...yep, that's how they speak. I had been SO nice to her and tried to be SO patient with her lack of understanding...but she was just flat out unable to help me. That's why I asked to have a nurse call me...yet, she bashes ME? So incredibly unprofessional. The management team assures me that they are handling the situation (after it was reported), but sadly, I have just lost all confidence in this practice and am in the process of finding a new cardiologist. I simply can't trust any practice that would hire such unprofessional staff. Save yourself the headache and continue to search for a more professional practice. read more

Wow! I've been going to Legacy for 15 years and I can't believe the bad reviews that I am seeing. I think some people take all their frustrations for bad health out on their ratings. It would be difficult for me to imagine how they could have done a better job for me than has been done. I had my first known heart attack in 1990 and had surgery. Unfortunately under other doctors, I ended up with a medicine overdose because my blood levels weren't being checked. Within 6 months after surgery, 2 of my three by passes had occluded. I went to Legacy to get additional input after these problems. After switching to Legacy, I have been kept in good health with several stints and good drug therapy. I now have really good blood lipids, and I have managed to stay in as good or better heart health than what I had 20 years ago. Of course, I have a few more aches and pains as aging marches on. I recommend Legacy to all my relatives and anyone else that is seeking help and I thank God that I had the good forture to be guided to Legacy. I have so many family members that suffer with poor medical care that I can see the contrast and how fortunate I am, and how outstanding Legacy is. Dr Rivera was knowledgeable, patient and willing to answer all the questions regarding heart disease. The cardiac testing was scheduled in a timely manner and wait times were minimal. The testing process was done in their office setting which was very convenient and the staff was personable and efficient. I will definitely continue my medical care at this facility. read more

I have been visiting these doctors since 2008 - basically, they saved my life - twice! All of their doctors are top docs and are very very good at what they do. I have referred others to them as well. I have not had an issue with a botched appointment or with an excessive wait and I am not a geriatric and could stand to lose weight as well. read more

My Primary Cardiologist is Dr. Woolbert. He helped found this group I think. One thing of which I am absolutely sure is that he personally and his fellow doctors at Legacy have saved my life on occasion. These folks have gone out of their way to help me. Dr. Woolbert takes time to explain things to you. He answers questions fully. I have 15 stents in me. The majority of these were placed by Legacy Doctors. They've done great work for me. My older brother had a bypass surgery within the last three years and swears by Legacy. They have state of the art medical equipment and the expertise to administer it and read it. I also got to participate is the clinical trial of a new stress test drug. I'm pretty sure I got the drug because that was the least painful stress test I've ever done. I even got paid for it. I have been a patient at Legacy Heart Center for over 10 years. This review is for today's experience only; not the practice as a whole. I went in this morning for labs and another test. My lab appointment was for 7:15am, with a request to arrive 15 minutes early. To beat the traffic, I arrived at 6:30am. When I checked in at the front desk, I was told to sign in for labs using the clip board in the lab area, so I did. At about 7:10, Rachel (the person from the front desk) came to check on me because she didn't see that I'd been checked in. She asked me if I signed the clip board, and I told her that I had. Rachel asked Joni, the person manning the clipboard if I had signed in, and Joni said that I hadn't. I walked over to the clip board, and noticed that my name was first on the list, but it had been scratched out. I showed Joni the scratched out name, and she said that it was from the previous day. I explained to her that it was my name that I had placed it there this morning, along with my appointment time of 7:15 am. Joni said that she didn't scratch out the name and she didn't know who did. She then re-wrote my name next to the scratched out name on line 1. I thought that meant I was on the list in the first position, where I started, so I went back to my seat. At promptly 7:15, the lab technician called the first name to go back for lab work, and it wasn't me. I walked back up to Joni and asked her why I wasn't the first person to be called since I had been waiting since 6:30 and my name was first on the list. She stated that they don't start drawing blood until 7:15 so it didn't matter that I was there at 6:30. I stated that I was first on the list, and that I thought we had resolved that in our first conversation. She then argued that I wasn't. Joni's tone was extremely rude, she was speaking very loudly, and eventually started screaming at me that she didn't scratch my name off the list, she had other patients, and that I would have to wait my turn. I asked her to lower her voice because she was screaming at me. She just yelled louder. I then asked to speak to her supervisor. She told me it was Rachel (the fist person I spoke to). She then started apologizing to the people behind me for me taking up her time (dismissing me). At this point I was so frustrated that I started crying. My name was called next for the blood work. After I finished there I went to speak to Rachel to let her know how rudely Joni had spoken to me and that no customer should be treated that way (I was still in tears). All Joni had to do was apologize for mistakenly removing my name from the list (thinking it was from yesterday) and tell me she would get me in next. Instead, she yelled at me so everyone could hear. Rachel said that she would talk to Joni about it. I then went to my next appointment in the facility, still in tears, so the technician naturally asked what was wrong. I told her the story, and she left the room for a moment. When she returned, she told me that she had relayed the story to her supervisor. I'm hoping that someone takes this seriously and does something more than just talk to Joni so other customers aren't treated as I was at a facility for patient care, and where I have spent a lot of money over the past 10+ years! I also plan to discuss this situation with my doctor when I see him next week. read more

I have been a patient of Legacy Heart Center for nine years. In the beginning, it was good follow up patient care. Now that the system has changed, and Baylor has taken over, everything has changed. In the past, I could call an leave a message for Dr. Philip Morales nurse, and get a call back within 24 hours. You cannot leave a message for a specific nurse any longer. It goes to a clinical nurse call center. I put in a call to Dr. Morales nurse two weeks ago, regarding my medication. I have not received a call back. You are now just a Number at Legacy Heart Center. Not a patient. You can never reach the Dr. and now, not even the nurse. I am finding a new Cardiologist and would not recommend Legacy Heart Center to anyone. They need to remember, if it were not for patients, they would not have a practice or a job. I scheduled an appointment for a Vein Mapping and follow up months in advance around a busy work, school, and travel schedule. I received a call today from the Legacy Heart office asking to change my appointment. They could not make any of my other few days work and insisted on cancelling my carefully planned appointment. I really needed this Vein Mapping and now have to wait longer to get an appointment elsewhere. Disappointing service and poor customer care. read more

Thank God for the First Amendment. Bad experience overall. Techs and nurses ok, but this place is a cattle call. Feel like they get you in and out and it's about money. My husband had 3 visits - 3 drs. His cardiologist didn't even bother to look up my husbands cath results etc - instead got a TEXT from the dr that did it. No communication skills. Horrible place!!! RUN!!! All they want is your money and could not care any less about your health. The PA was 30 minutes late for my appointment and all the front desk would say is we are sorry, please wait. The next visit I was late by 15 minutes due to traffic and they cancelled the appointment and refused to work me in. Do not go to this place. If you do, do not let them put you on the treadmill. Their treadmills are old and dangerous. They also are under attended. They will leave you on the treadmill until your shoulder separates. Also, don't try to see Dr. Kennedy, He only works three days a week part of the day. read more

My husband has had strokes in his eye..our opthamologist sent him for stress tests..echo..and most important carotid tests. Legacy was not concerned at all and put off the tests being done. Now...over 6 weeks later we are still waiting for the carotid results which was done 3 weeks ago. Calls have given us no results. Doctor Mckenzie seems to b a good dr but we are extremely disappointed in the staff. This is a VERY SERIOUS happening. If any poor outcome is caused by their delay you can bet they will hear from our lawyer. We will b looking for a new cardiologist. Sad I worked there at one time when they cared about patients. read more

Legacy Heart Center is over the top! They certainly exceeded my expectations. They are the Best medical experience ever. They do run the center very efficiently. With 15 cardiologists I'd think they have to. They also have the equipment to run almost every test on site. I am overweight and have never been snubbed. I have been treated with a professional air by all the staff. My doctor (Waenard Miller) is the best in the world. He explains things in a way I can understand, asks me questions, and answers any questions I may have and he seems to genuinely care about my health. I would highly recommend them to anyone needing Heart care. read more

I have been going to Legacy Heart Center since 2007 when I was diagnosed with AFIB. My Doctor is Dr. Schwartz. The facilities are first class with the best equipment available. I have always had courteous and professional care. Dr. Schwartz is first class and "TOP Drawer or Top Shelf"... I think he is great! He explains details and takes his time. I like how he can be firm and gentle at the same time by reminding me of the correct life styles and choices that I make or do not make.
