I went up to the attic to investigate and found the water was splashing out of the pan onto my ceiling. I called Keith AC who sent a local guy by at the end of the day. I shut the unit down before the call. 97 outside that day. JT the tech showed up in the afternoon. Explains the unit needs to be centered in the pan. Two techs show up the next day. They investigate. I ask what they found. They said the unit was not in the pan properly and the water was allowed to escape. My secondary pan did not fill with water. The tech asked me if JT changed anything on the switch. I informed him JT said he wiped some stuff off the float. I told him JT blew the drain out from the top. I informed him I vacuumed the line from the bottom and cleared alot of clear junk. He had his assistant pour some cleaner down the p trap. I informed Eric that the installer had a terrible time getting it drain. Stay another hour trying to get water to drain. Eric agreed that he could understand why. The 40-foot drain was up and down and could not drain properly. After talking about the initial salesman saying he would recommend taking the drain out the east wall, which is under 10ft. Eric decided to take the drain out of the east wall adjacent to the drain for the secondary pain. Once that was completed the drain no longer dripped like before, it had a steady stream. Everyone was happy with the discharge, and we all agreed it should have been left the way it was just dripping. To shorten the story a bit, I called to get warranty repair. I was sent to John the foreman. He says he would send to the owner who will be back Monday. Waited til Wednesday, no calls so I called back. Later in afternoon, Matt the owner called back and says he saw the pictures and cannot know who has been in the attic since the install. I assured him no one went to the attic connected the brand-new unit to 25-year-old drain lines and rewired the cut off so the unit would not stop running when the pan filled with water. I asked him to talk to Eric. It is not an expensive repair, but to blatantly say I may have contributed to the failure is ridiculous. 1. The unit was NOT correctly placed in the pan. 2. The unit was connected to a 25-year-old drain line that was not to spec and was problematic with the old unit and I absolutely explained that to the installers as well as the 25-year-old refrigerant copper lines were used. (How long before they fail?) Same thermostat wire was used that was 25 years old as well. 3. The outside unit was placed on the existing 25 yr old slab that has sunken into the ground. The unit is not even. You can see that by eye. 4. The unit is less than 18 inches from the side of my house. 5. The cutoff was not wired correctly upon install, verified by the technician that rewired it. Yet the owner wants to say they will not cover repairs because they do not know if I have down anything in the meantime. Kieth air never called for a 1 yr checkup like they said was part of the deal. JT came by one time after the install because the outside unit was making noise. He tightened a few screws. You do not take a 25-year-old unit out of a house and put a brand-new unit in but keep all the plumbing from the old unit. Why would you? Save time or money? I am within my 24-month labor warranty. I cannot believe I am having to do this over what should have been a professional job. Looks like the owner trains his people to cut corners and mix words. I hope Matt Kieth calls back and owns up to the mistakes of his company. I really do.

Thankfully it was my outside water that runs on well, so I simply turned off the well and avoided an emergency. Affordable showed up on time and as scheduled. I was given rough price expectations before the time was booked. That was appreciated. Josh was my technician. He had it all up and running quickly and even replaced the thingy that turns on the water (spigot?) with one that is much better. They do a lot more than fix pipes and soon I will get a quote from them on a Rinnai to replace by old tank water heater. Recommend!

Austin sent me a quote recommended replacing the air-conditioning unit for $12 to 14K depending on the chosen unit. He said I could "get by" for now with a new drain pan and resealing the ductwork for $2647. I called the outfit that replaced everything 10 years ago who said NO WAY the AC unit needs to be replaced. Their quote for a new pan, drain and resealing was $800. So far, the re-pipe is up to snuff. but I don't trust these guys. If you call them for any work, be sure to get a second opinion.

Technician came on time, as scheduled, and identified the problem in 10 minutes. He ordered part needed, charged me for service call $95.00, and left. Week later the front desk called they have received the part ordered, and scheduled repair. The technician showed as scheduled, it took him 15 minutes to complete the repair. At this time, I was charged another $142.21 for the repair and the part ( burner switch-about $56.) So, the total labor, per invoice, comes to $175.00. With this said, I consider the labor cost of my appliance repair ( two years old electric range ) is a bit expensive, compared to IPhone repair, or car repair, for example. The front desk was not able to tell me the labor rate per hour. So, next time, when you shop for appliance repair, do some research, when calling around for appliance repair company.

My Bosch dishwasher stopped working after a power hit on 2 January. Suspected circuit board fried…read morefrom gitgo, prepared for bad news. Tech came out on 5th or 6th, pulled out appliance, and checked control unit on right side. Did control unit test, indicated original control unit fried. Est repair $430 including one svc call and control unit. Ordered replacement control unit that day, it arrived following week. Biz owner (The Boss) came out on the 13th to install replacement control unit, which would not work. On inspecting packaging, he suspected the part was used, and declared it defective. He reinstalled original control unit. In the interim, The Boss did a precursory search around with a flashlight and smelled burning insulation, with smoke coming from terminal control box in front. Seems Justin Case was watching out for us. The Boss took off front valance and found exposed burnt insulation on hot wire. He said the wire had worked loose from machine screw terminal causing voltage drop to control unit, causing malfunction, but no electronics damage. The Terminal box WAS damaged, I guess the cost about $30 or $40. A lot less than $350 for the control unit! He said likely cause was faulty installation (7 years ago) by under-torqued connections, which explained brief recovery. He ordered a new terminal box and will install it for $96 with parts in addition to the single service call. That was about 40% of the original estimate. He also mentioned new electrical code will require plug-in wall outlets for dishwashers. I can't guarantee appliance repairs will go that well for everyone, but I find these people to be honest and perfectly reliable, and with a Holmes-Poirot-Father Brown doggedness to get to the bottom of the issue. Other sources here in Yelp, as well as others, rate Scott's as highly as I. They DO come out here to the Wild West as well as Baldwin County. BTW I installed the appliance in 2015 so it was my fault the connections were under-torqued. That is, I should have used a socket instead of a screwdriver. The next patient will get the Scott Appliance treatment for sure.
