Unfortunately, I have to change my review of Legacy Design and Remodeling. We have had issue upon issue since we trusted them to conduct a full remodel of our kitchen. It began when we allowed their salesman to convince us that the walls could be knocked down with no problems, when several other contractors that we met with before them warned us that they won't know until they begin demolition and see what's behind the walls & the structure. The salesman Todd, was so sure they could knock down the walls, we believed him. On day one, they called an emergency meeting with us to explain that not only were they wrong but we needed to leave 2 walls in place or it will cost a substantial amount to make it work and add several months to the project. We shared our concern as we would have gone another way in terms of the design. We got over it and continued to work with them. We eventually came up with an idea to use one of the walls as a beverage station. And asked that they hang a wine rack. It was the least they could do. The owner came out and reviewed several of our concerns and was super nice, apologetic & accommodating by offering to build a counterweight cabinet around the wine fridge we purchased. Anyway back to the concerns. During the project they moved several items onto our deck but never moved them back inside and our personal items suffered a lot of damage from the outdoor elements. The heat and rain did unrepairable damage to many of our items and had to be thrown away including a set of 4 beautiful chairs that we planned to keep, several kitchen appliances & several sentimental pieces that cannot be replaced. Additionally, they promised to retain our hardwood floors; however they scratched and butchered them terribly, to the point they cannot be exposed - EVER! They agreed to paint our entire 1st level if we provided the paint, which we did. They got paint on furnishings, the floors, windows & appliances. On top of that, the paint job was horrible! Lots of bumps, uneven surfaces and overall lazy work. When we selected our backsplash they verbally complained of how heavy and challenging it will be. They're professionals, not our problem. They dropped a tool in our toilet that left a hole, causing a leak to our basement. We are still dealing with sunken floors & squeaking. The worst part is, they didn't say anything when it happened. The gentleman was doing a walk thru inspection and fixing a few things, but ended up making a bad situation, worse. The caulk & grout they used cracked several times. After 3 visits to repair they finally sealed it! I'd like to mention that we treated them well. We provided waters & donuts often as a token of appreciation. And even gave them beverages to take home to enjoy an evening after a days work. One of the managers swore to us that we had the absolute best worker on the team. I feel like we were bamboozled because if he's "the best" I wouldn't want to experience the worst!! When they reinstalled the bathroom sink, it was lopsided- they had to come back for that. They shaved my basement door because it was getting stuck after they installed the floors. They had to come 3 times for that. We had to insist they stop shaving the door and fix the floors!!! They had come back 2 times to repair our basement after the leak from the toilet they cracked on the level above. They had to come back twice to repair a leak under the kitchen sink. They had to rip up the floors multiple times in multiple areas, and we are still having problems. The dishwasher was installed but had skid marks because of how it was installed so when I close it, it scrapes against nails leaving skid marks. The cabinets were installed unevenly and you can only open one at a time as they overlap. They moved my curtains and did not fix them, so they're uneven and have paint on them. I had to get a new broom because they used ours to clean up leaving it filthy and worn down. The one thing I can say, is that they are very nice.......when they finally respond. Their communication is absolutely horrible. We reached out to them weeks ago & they promised to come by with the owner and PM, and we are still waiting. It's been over a week. No one has ever been disrespectful or denied the issues, which is why writing this low star review is still not easy. I love to write good reviews especially when people are shopping around bc I know how frustrating it can be undecided about who to hire. People work hard for their money, and want to spend it on quality service. This has cost us money, time, patience and more. Hopefully I can come back and provide a nice update. I have a lot more pictures but for some reason I'm unable yo upload them. They are pics of cracks around the wall that they installed when relocating our plumbing for the kitchen, the paint job and a few other things. read more
