The service tech arrived (and of course it started to work) and said that they don't diagnose that model controller because all components have to be replaced together. I called and asked why I had been billed $195 if they don't even diagnose components, which was the reason for my service request. My goal was to replace the failed component and not everything. They could have told me that on the phone before coming to my house. If they would have, I would have said, never mind, I don't need a test then. Then the guy to whom I was disputing the bill said, oh we can replace components. I had already called around after receiving their ridiculously high parts and labor quote. Parts people told me that you cannot replace components on the replacement controller for my particular model. The Betz service technician said they cannot replace components. But, the Betz guy on the phone, presumably the owner, said they can. So which it, they can or cannot, I asked. The Betz guy claimed that, oh, a wire might have been chewed by a mouse. If I had a mouse-chewed wire, I would not have asked for testing of all the components to include wiring, because I would have known the wiring was the issue because I was all up under the tub troubleshooting myself. I had called to negotiate the service call fee because they didn't perform the service I requested, nor would they have anyway because the replacement comes with all components. However, the Betz representative talked over me, down to me, and engaged in circular reasoning. A two-way rational conversation became combative. This is not the sort of company one can work with.
