I wanted to take a minute to say how thankful we are for Legacy Christian Academy. Our son started at Legacy in kindergarten and is now in first grade, and seeing how much he has grown and how genuinely excited he is to go to school has been such a breath of fresh air. He wants to read, do math problems, and tell us about what he learned that day. I'm constantly impressed by the thoughtful questions he comes home with, and I love seeing his confidence and curiosity grow. His teachers have been wonderful, and I really appreciate having two teachers in each classroom. But what I love most is how personal the whole school feels. His teachers, staff, administrators, and coaches know him by name, and he has made some really wonderful friendships. He truly feels like he belongs there. Something I honestly didn't think much about when we were choosing a school, but now appreciate SO much, is the expectation that parents are involved in their kids' education. There is a real partnership between the school, teachers, and parents. Knowing what your child is working on, reading with them, practicing at home, and being involved is just part of the culture, and I didn't realize how much I would value that until we experienced it. And he gets to have fun too! He LOVES his enrichment classes. In kindergarten, he came home so excited that he was learning Microsoft Paint in computer class, and he told us the whole story of Noah's Ark from Bible class. Now in first grade, he has started flag football and is absolutely pumped to be a "Legacy Lion." We're looking forward to many more years of school and sports! Go Lions! read more

Our family came to Legacy after having a difficult experience in public school, and the difference we saw in our daughter was incredible. From day one with handwritten notes from each student welcoming our daughter we knew we had made the right choice. We were looking for a place where she would feel known, supported, safe, and excited about school again and Legacy became that place for her and so much more. Watching her confidence return and seeing her thrive academically, socially, and spiritually has meant everything to us. From the moment our family became part of the Legacy community, it has felt like so much more than just a school. It truly feels like a family. The teachers genuinely know, love, and care for their students. They are intentional about helping each child grow not only academically, but also in their character, confidence, and faith. I'm continually grateful for the way our girls are encouraged, challenged, supported, and prayed for by the people who pour into them each day. One of the things I appreciate most about Legacy is the strong sense of community. There are so many opportunities for students and families to get involved, whether through athletics, fine arts, student leadership, chapel, service, or school events. There is a real effort to make every student feel known and included and to create experiences and memories that extend far beyond the classroom. I also love that faith isn't treated as something separate from the school day. Biblical truth is woven into the culture of the school, and students are encouraged to grow in their relationship with Christ while learning what it looks like to lead, serve, show kindness, and care for others. After seeing firsthand what it looks like when your child isn't thriving at school, we don't take for granted what we have found at Legacy. Seeing our daughters happy, confident, growing in their faith, and genuinely excited to be at school is something we are incredibly thankful for. The teachers are mostly great, and the seasonal celebrations and parental/family involvement are awesome. I'm also very grateful for the school's success in instilling a strong moral compass, Christian values, and an understanding of Christianity. That was truly top-tier. That said, we've unenrolled and will be attending public school for the 2026-2027 school year, along with what I understand to be at least 100 other families. The primary reason is that the general sentiment is that the cost of tuition no longer matches the quality of education being provided. We've experienced tuition increases every year for the past 3-4 years, maybe even the last 5 years. This includes increases of 9%, 6%, 5%... There is no indication these increases are slowing down, yet the educational experience has not kept pace with what families should reasonably expect from such an expensive private school. Academically, students transitioning to public school have often been behind in math to the point that the school has since improved its math curriculum, starting this school year. That's great for future students, but for the tuition being charged, this should never have been an issue in the first place. The same can be said for Spanish. My oldest attended Legacy from K-4 and my youngest from K-2. They took Spanish every year, yet neither can speak or understand more than a few basic words. This seems to be common among students who are not already bilingual. After years of paying for Spanish instruction, there should be significantly more to show for it. There has also been a noticeable change in the school's culture since its partnership with Grace Community Church in Sunland (not to be confused with Grace Baptist here in SCV) and the increased involvement of The Master's University (TMU). Many families feel the school has become more business-oriented and that hiring increasingly favors individuals connected to Grace or TMU, creating a perception of nepotism. Security is another major concern. With more than 500 students across a K-12 campus consisting of multiple buildings, having only one security guard during school hours is simply inadequate. A campus of this size should have at least two guards to provide meaningful coverage. Then there's a lack of law enforcement experience with the guard for the last 2 years. When Legacy first implemented armed security, law-enforcement experience was mandatory. That standard has since changed, and the current guard does not have any kind of law-enforcement background and is limited to basic security experience. By comparison, Trinity Classical Academy has multiple guards on campus and their security personnel have law-enforcement backgrounds. For a school charging premium tuition, I believe that level of security should be the minimum expectation. Ultimately, the biggest issue is value. Going into 2026-2027, tuition for my two elementary-age children would have been $4,500 per month, before future increases. High school tuition is already around $3,000 per month per student, before future increases. At those prices, families should expect an exceptional academic experience, strong college preparation, and a robust security program that is consistent with a premium private school. Instead, many graduates are attending schools such as TMU or UC campuses. There is nothing wrong with those schools, but when Legacy presents itself as a premier, prestigious private Christian school and charges premium tuition, it is reasonable for parents to question whether the overall educational value and outcomes justify the price. Legacy does many things well--particularly its Christian foundation, teachers, and family involvement-- The question is no longer whether Legacy is a good school. The question is whether it is a $30,000-$50,000-per-year school. Based on our experience, we no longer believe it is. read more

Our family has been at this school for the past five years. I want to start by saying that many of the teachers my son has had have been caring, kind, and genuinely invested in their students. My concerns are not with those individual teachers, but with the school itself. The biggest disappointment has been the academics. For the amount of tuition families pay, I expected a much stronger educational experience. Instead, I've found that many of the newer teachers have very little classroom experience and are fresh out of Master's University. If parents are paying premium tuition, they should expect experienced educators to match that investment. One example is the Spanish program. My children have taken Spanish every year they've attended this school, yet they know nothing. Even they tell me the class is a joke. It's surprising because the school heavily promotes its languages program, yet I've met students from public schools who can speak far more Spanish after receiving free public education than my children can after years of paid instruction. The school is also constantly asking parents for additional donations despite already charging very high tuition. Last year, families were asked to contribute money for teacher retention, which I found surprising. After learning more, I discovered many teachers are not guaranteed ongoing employment and essentially receive a new contract offer each year. If the school truly wants to retain quality teachers, perhaps it should improve its employment practices instead of asking parents to cover the cost. Academically, students are simply not where they should be, especially when transitioning into middle school. I've personally seen students who transferred to public schools end up behind academically. Considering that academics are one of the primary reasons families choose private school and pay such significant tuition, this is incredibly disappointing. Another concern is the administration. If you have a legitimate concern, don't expect it to be welcomed. Constructive criticism is often dismissed rather than addressed. There also appears to be a noticeable difference in how families are treated depending on whether they are major donors versus average tuition-paying parents. If your primary goal is a strong academic education that prepares your child to excel, I would look elsewhere. You're better off sending your children to public school but getting a private tutor. If your family is deeply invested in the religious aspect of the school, your priorities may be different. However, if you're paying the premium tuition expecting your child to be academically ahead of their peers, that has not been our experience. read more

Legacy Christian Academy has become such a special part of our family's life. It's been a tremendous blessing to watch our kids grow as whole people under the stewardship of the school. Our children are growing beyond academics--in their love for the Lord, strength of character, and desire to seek out opportunities to lead and serve others. What I appreciate most is how well our children are known and cared for by the people who shepherd their hearts and sharpen their minds. I also love that they are encouraged to discover and develop their unique gifts and talents while, most importantly, being refined for the call Christ has on their lives. We've built some really meaningful friendships here and have experienced such a genuine sense of community. We love Legacy! My son is going into 3rd grade and has been here since kindergarten. He absolutely loves going school! He's thriving and getting great grades all thanks to the amazing teachers. I love that they have enrichment classes starting in kinder. He says it makes his day so much more fun getting to rotate and learn about Computers, Art, Science, Library, Bible, and Spanish. In second grade he was at a 6th grade 6 month reading level which blew me away! As parents we also love that we get to be involved so much, from volunteering in class, to being included in Friday Chapel, to helping with field trips and holiday activities, it's all amazing. The second you walk in to Legacy it feels like home, everyone is so welcoming and kind. We can't wait for more years to come. read more

As our 7-year-old daughter's first year at Legacy winds to a close, we couldn't be happier with the experience. She has made exponential leaps in her academic progress, as well as awakening an acute awareness toward building key character traits and humanitarianism (something public schools often shy away from), firmly anchored in the most positive Christian tenets. Mrs. Marble, our daughter's second grade teacher and her assistant teacher, Mrs. Justice have consistently provided timely and specific feedback on our daughter's progress and potential academic challenge areas, and are always available for more detailed discussions. We were on a waiting list for more than a year before we could enroll our child. I went here from kindergarten to third grade from 2003-2007. It was a decent school for the first couple years. My parents, who divorced while I was still attending, got shunned by teachers, faculty, and parents for their decision. My mother decided to pull me out because of the overly religious views (Jews will go to hell), the conformity, and the waste of money for mediocre schooling. I ended up going to a public school from fourth grade through high school. I graduated salutatorian. No thanks to this school, I learned a hell of a lot more at public school. I am now in my second year of college, ahead of schedule, taking more than necessary amount of units. I've enjoyed school since leaving this hell hole. Come to find out, the majority of the kids who stayed at this school either don't go to college or are at party schools. Don't waste your money on this garbage, save it for college.
