My child has been at VV for 6 years and will graduate in 2026. This school has outstanding support staff...yard duties, custodian, cafeteria workers, behavior support specialist, and a wonderful PTA. He has had consistently wonderful teachers. Hoping for the best in 6th grade! He has been very fortunate to attend this school. read more

Nice school - but, a few red flags. 1. Principal - the new one in 2024....threatened to expel my kid because we missed over 14 days of school and said her home school was Meadows and we expect attendance. I called Newhall School District and they said only kids who are aggressive get expelled not for attendance. So, I had Newhall school district call that awful principal..and put her in check. 2. 6th Grade Teacher Mrs. Monjoy - What a disaster. This lady should not be even near children. She yells, public shames kids, pulls them by the chair and have them face the wall for an hour. This behavior is horrendous and somehow with all the complaints to Newhall School district....somehow this lady is allowed to be a teacher. Can someone take charge and expel her? No kid deserves a mean lady like this...she traumatized my child to the point I couldn't get her to attend school she was too afraid...then I find out there's about 7 other kids crying before going to school begging their parents to stay home. WTF!!! 3. The school is in a lovely neighborhood, safe, clean and in general a nice school. They have a great PTA and the locals are nice parents and try to have great ambiance. Love the fact there's a park next door for after school playdates. 4. The VP at this school protects the mean teachers like Mrs. Monjoy and supports aggression towards children. Both those ladies should leave. I really hope Newhall School District can get those rotten ladies out of this school and make it a lovely environment again for children to play, learn and feel happy. read more

School was very nice . My kids made good friends . But let me tell you! Mrs Monjoy is the worse!!! She's mean , she bullies, and I'm glad to know by past reviews that I wasn't the only one that thinks that about this awful teacher . She needs to stop teaching ! read more

WOW! I was trying to find a picture of Mrs. MonJoy to show my sister. I was quite painfully reminiscing about the worst and most evil teacher I ever had. I cried every day of 5th grade with her. Every single day. She would tell me "there's much better reasons to cry!" "You cry over nothing!" Just a mean ugly hearted bully. I used to go to the office and beg them to change my class. They would drag me back in where this lady would then belittle and humiliate me in front of the entire class. I am 30 years old so this was 20 years ago, and after a quick google search I see this woman is STILL traumatizing children! How awful! I loved this school when I was a kid, but the year I had with her was horrendous... utterly disgusting, horrific memories. No adult believed how nasty she was, and here we are 20 years later and she is still picking on helpless children. Despicable. read more

Alright, I've seen a lot of bad reviews about this school and let me just tell you... They are just straight up false. I am currently a 6th grader in Mrs. Monjoy's class and there are the up sides and very few downsides about this school. Everyone thinks that 6th grade is the worst thing about this school but did anyone realize that this school isn't JUST sixth grade? Mrs Monjoy is a great teacher. She will very rarely (1 in a billion chance) publicly shame students. Only if they did something extremely bad. She will never physically hurt students. What is this about!? Sure she is a strict teacher, but if you just behave like a normal person and do your work on time, you will be completely fine! Maybe if people wouldn't scream 'pumpkin' as loud as they can or stand on their desks while she is outside of the room then things would be a lot better. Let's step aside from criticizing 6th grade. There are so many other amazing teachers! Mrs Dodson (my favorite teacher), Mrs. Boiles, Mrs. Wood, Mrs Zeise, etc. I will agree that this school does have a bit of a bullying problem and ever since the new principal came in It has became a lot more strict. I would definitely recommend this school and it is also in a very safe neighborhood. The PTA and parent volunteers are also amazing. The teachers are great and even though a few might be too strict for your liking, they are just trying to do their job in their own different ways. I do not recommend this school. Every parent complained about bullying issues. The counselor is overwhelmed. The Principal has no grasp on handling the situation. she called kids names and yells at them. Its a big bullying problem at this school. Also, if your kid is entering 6th grade - major red flag! All the teachers are very strict. We had one of the worst of the group. Mrs. Monjoy - or should I say 'non-joy'! No smiles or kindness towards the children. Abusive with daily yelling and separating kids as a part of discipline. She also uses 'targeting and shaming' a child infront of everyone as a part of her discipline. We had 4-6 boys ages 11-12 with major anxiety to attend school. My son is a big kid and like to talk with friends...the average teacher would know how to handle him - its common right...but, she actually pulled his chair across the room and had him face a wall for an hour - sounds like abusive behavior to me! This teacher has shattered my son a big 5'5 kid down to crying with anxiety to attend school. I officially have grey hair from the trauma caring for him and coordinating with below average teacher and principal. They are mean ladies that cover up as 'strict' but, there's a big difference being strict and having the whole class stressed out and in tears. They seem to enjoy breaking them down instead of being supportive and helpful. Just shameful. Please don't enroll your child. I know it looks like a quaint lovely school in a quiet neighborhood but, its house of horror inside. read more

Went here till 4th grade, teachers were nice, but every other faculty was rude. The fundraisers were horrible with kids getting trampled and overheating due to almost no shady places to sit. read more

Some teachers are amazing. Teach each kid like the individuals they are. Some seem like they have been doing this too long. Need to take a vacation and remember why they chose this profession. Pta moms get heard more than the working parents. Music teacher is amazing . Passion for what she does. Never thought a recorder concert would have me in tears. Standing ovation. read more

This is a great school!! My daughter has been coming here since kindergarten and she has grown academically nicely!! Great teachers and administrators, especially Mr. Hintz who unfortunately for us, was transferred to another school( sad face). My daughter really likes school and is looking forward to returning next week. But all of her teachers have been great so far. I just wish the school had a fence around it, but does not because it shares part of the playground with the public community park. read more
