5 stars so far, and I hope to come back and update this review when our ADU is complete!…read more This review reflects our experience through the signing of our ADU contract. Construction has not started yet, so I cannot speak to the building process or the finished product. But everything we have experienced so far has been so positive that I felt Preferred Home Builders truly deserves five stars at this stage. After an extremely frustrating experience with a different contractor, I feel compelled to share what we learned for anyone embarking on the ADU journey: do not fall for charlatans, empty promises, lousy sketches, or requests for too much money upfront. Take your time, ask questions, and look for a professional who is willing to invest the time and expertise needed to understand your project before asking you to commit. That is exactly what we found in Nir at Preferred Home Builders. From our very first meeting, Nir has been professional, punctual, courteous, knowledgeable, and incredibly patient. Before we signed a contract, and before he even knew whether he would get our business, he invested more than 10 hours of in person meetings with us, in addition to extensive email communication. That level of commitment made a huge impression on us. Our ADU site presents some challenges because of the hilly terrain. Nir took the time to understand those challenges, assess them carefully, and come back to us with thoughtful options rather than making unrealistic promises or glossing over potential complications. Another thing that really impressed us was the level of detail that went into the budgeting process. We completed an extensive questionnaire covering everything from major decisions such as windows and doors to seemingly tiny details, such as how many sconces we wanted by the entrance and whether they should be on the left or right. The result was a remarkably detailed budget that leaves very little, if anything, to be figured out later. After our previous experience, the difference has been night and day. So, at this stage of the process, I cannot recommend Preferred Home Builders highly enough. Nir is clearly at the top of his game, and we are very happy to be working with him. I look forward to coming back to update this review once the ADU is completed, hopefully with another five stars and plenty of pictures to share!

We hired this team for a major structural renovation--adding a loft in our high-ceiling living…read moreroom, building a wet bar underneath it, and replacing our kitchen's back door and window with a beautiful bifold door. (Note: The furniture bar cabinets and library were added later on and were not part of this contractor's project). From start to finish, the entire team was extremely professional, dedicated, and highly skilled. On the very first day we met, Nir helped design a 3D view of the project that perfectly captured exactly what we had envisioned. Throughout the build, we had a weekly walkthrough with Nir to check if we had any questions or concerns, which kept communication incredibly clear. Elba was also an excellent project coordinator who was always available to answer our questions and keep everything on track daily. The construction crew themselves were clearly very experienced and knowledgeable; they followed our approved plans meticulously and were happy to accommodate extra requests along the way. You can truly gauge the quality of their work by the fact that every single city inspector visit passed on the first try--nothing ever had to be rescheduled or redone because everything was built perfectly to plan. Additionally, all of the finishes--from the drywalling to the trim work and paint--were done with high-quality materials and top-tier craftsmanship. Overall, it was a great experience, and we highly recommend them!

Just to remind everyone that the name "Tile By Vincent" does not mean that the company just doing the tile installation. We were looking for a garage "touch up" + front yard update. Project manager Josef was excellent in bringing in his partners (designers, foreman, etc.) to ensure from the design to finish we were collaborating and satisfied with the end result. For the garage, we had it drywalled (no insulation), installation of a attic ladder (bought from Home Depot) to make use of a pre-built storage area, updated garage door and exterior lighting. Front yard included adding extra pavement to be able to park two cars on the driveway (we have the pre WW II one car driveway) but looks like a part of the front yard design, installation of artificial grass (YAY), redo of the front porch to include redoing the porch ceiling with a bare wood look, and installation of a pathway to the front steps. We had 3 home improvement projects in the last couple of years (including this project) and WTG Builders was the best in terms of responsiveness, communication, and setting expectations. Perhaps I'm more wiser too about projects but I appreciated Project Manager Josef's communication and updates and the various trade teams were fantastic.
