This last time, and yes I mean last, the steak was still overdone and burnt around the edges. It tasted burnt. The onions on it were almost raw. Who puts raw onions on a cheesesteak? They are supposed to be caramelized. There was barely any cheese. It has become obvious that they cook the meat ahead of time then throw it, probably frozen, on a grill where it gets burnt, dry, and tough. This business model of hiring a restaurant to run your food business while they are obviously more focused on theirs does not work.

Deal with it!…read more I've passed by Charley's a billion times inside of Macomb Mall but never tried it until today. The service was good, I was helped by an middle aged man who was the manager as indicated on his name tag. I ordered the Philly Steak Sandwich deluxe, which means it has onions, peppers and mushrooms grilled along with the thin sliced steak and provolone, along with hand-cut fries and a soda for over $10!!! That seems like a lot of cabbage to charge someone for mall food, I'm just saying. The sub was big, it had to have been a foot long, so therefore it was filling. The sandwich wasn't terrible, but wasn't amazing either. The bread was bland and had no flavor whatsoever. The sauce they put on it was plain mayo instead of a cheese sauce like I'd hope for. The steak was good but didn't knock my socks off, I would've liked a hint of steak seasoning or something. The extra money I paid for onions, peppers and mushrooms were trivial amounts. I felt cheated a bit. The fries were hand cut but needed salt because they were bland too. Lame. I guess the best part was free soda refills for dine-in customers. Charley's is a decent place if you're STARVING from shopping all day and want some fast (overly priced) food.
