It is hard for me to give a bar and grill any more than a three star rating but this one is very close to a four. A couple of reasons. One of the best bartenders I have had. The vibe is very laid-back lots of locals, but everyone is friendly. They have 4 to 5 craft beers on tap, including Guinness and shock top. The food menu is limited, but I did have their club wrap as well as their broccoli slaw. The broccoli slaw was excellent and something different from traditional coleslaw. I've had nothing but great experiences in here but again it's hard to provide a four star for a bar and grill. I'm sure this place is very crowded when Miami is in session. You have to pay to park outside the bar. That's also a downer. Oxford tries to suck you dry when it comes to parking fees. Aside from that great place great atmosphere. The food hit the spot after the hockey game on Saturday. I had the chicken club wrap where I was able to substitute the ranch dressing for the hot garlic wing sauce. The chips on the side hit the spot with the barbecue sauce. The service was pretty good for how busy it was at 8pm. There were a lot of people there, but you could still hear the music. The ambiance was one of a college town restaurant, but solid food nonetheless. The beer on tap was a little limited but you could still find a choice of each kind of beer to have. read more

Small little Oxford restaurant, the first time I came here around 2018 was for lunch and it was super busy, service was quick, and the food was great. This time returning, I came around 2pm, unfortunately I sat at the bar for around 10 minutes before I saw anyone working (I wondered if they were open or not?) but once I was seen by the bartender I was able to put in my order and it was made quickly. I got the BBQ Chicken salad, BBQ rub was fantastic and greens were fresh. Plenty of more menu items to try, if I'm ever back in the Oxford area, I'll be sure to come for dinner when there's a more lively crowd. Other unfortunate event was there was a drunk man wandering around the restaurant in the middle of the day and had to be cut off from buying drinks during the lunch time. I hope he's ok. read more

I asked the waitress because there were several things on the menu that interested me. Kennedy was willing to make suggestions but you had to ask and she admitted that she had never had the Fried Green Tomatoes. We ordered and it wasn't super fast but we got our food in a fairly short amount of time. While we waited, Kennedy filled our water cups and brought us more soda pop. It allowed us to find out that she's worked there for 3 years while attending Miami University. My son enjoyed his Cajun Chicken Sandwich and I LOVED the Fried Green Tomato BLT. We both sampled the Truffle Fries with mushroom seasoning and I'd say we gave the fries a very enthusiastic two thumbs up!!!!! Wait, if we both give them two thumbs up is that 4 four thumbs up? Oh never mind, anyway.......... Left Field Tavern is way back in a corner of the water tower area in Oxford. Left Field is exactly what I would call this area. I NEVER think of walking back there. But after finding them to be open and going inside - I would go back! It's a very large dining area and there appear to be outdoor seating options. I suspect that they open up the entire restaurant when they have enough demand and plenty of staff. It's not the food but the service that seems to keep this place out in "left field". Ha ha...... The atmosphere reminds me of a Chicago tavern and I liked our waitress. She made our visit special and there are few places in Oxford where Miami students know so much about the restaurant scene and she did a great job "selling" Oxford. In a town full of nothing but bar food, this is in my top two bar food restaurants. The loaded fries are phenomenal, the burgers are super good, buffalo chicken Mac and Cheese is good. Don't order the buffalo chicken wrap if you're expecting any flavor at all. Best of all, the beer is served COLD. This is a family favorite for us. read more

You know what? An out of town fella could do a lot worse looking for a beer and some wings for dinner. Inside, seems a lot bigger and kinda nice compared to to outside entry whic was a nice surprise. I do like some spice to my wings and really think that the "sweet and spicy" sauce was way more sweet than spicy (little or no kick). The sauce is tasty for sure, but if you want a little spice, I'd opt for one of their other offerings. Took awhile to get my order. I wasn't in any kind of a rush so not an issue for me, but I think this solo diner may have fallen through the cracks for a bit. I do like my wings fried up crispier, I think they may have been rushed out a little after they found my order. I'd go back if I ever return to Oxford, I think. Quick edit after seeing some of the other reviews that my lost server experience might not be the exception to the rule. I understand that it's parents weekend at Miami, but this has happened time and time again this place is incredibly understaffed and the kitchen has to be in absolute shambles. There's a reason this restaurant isn't the only one in Oxford that's booked this weekend. We waited 45 minutes when there was ample room to sit everyone just to get sat at a table that was at 30 degree angle. We were sat at 6:30 and it's 8:45 just to have the waitress come and tell us they forgot to make 3 of our entrees. But wait! They are making it right now! I have had nothing but great food and good experiences here. It doesn't look like much from the outside; looks quite small really. But once you walk it it's way bigger. They have a nice size bar and loads of high top tables in the bar area. If you prefer booths they have a lot of those as well and a great outside patio. 2 dollar charge for changing your side option???? The default is potato chips so if I want fries I gotta pay 2$ extra. I have a love/hate relationship with this place. The experiences are very hit or miss. I've gone before and absolutely loved the food, and I've gone when waiters were completely overwhelmed and inattentive to my table. I also experienced a very rude hostess. I use to come twice a week with my friends to left field. They changed the menu making my weekly chicken quesadilla go from $8 to $14. It wasn't only that, they up charged every option at least $2. I asked her when she came over I asked her for sweet tea she said that we don't have sweet tea but when I asked the other server for more he brought out sweet It took 20 min to get our dinners. And in that time said waitress was cleaning ketchup bottles she wiped the sides front and back but did not wipe the top of the lids .the waitress name was mekensie. We ordered appetizers, half hour later our server came out to bring the appetizers, which was our first opportunity to order entrees. Dear Mr. Wood (Owner of Left Field Tavern), I have been to the Left Field Tavern five times - the last was Friday, August 12th for dinner. As with each and every visit, none of your wait staff have any clue what is on draught, and has to ask the bartender (necessitating a ten minute process before ordering) and/or cannot tell me anything about the beers. After the last visit, I complained to the barkeep and he assured me that this was going to be changed and that they would "educate" the wait staff as to the craft beers. One would think this would be basic in a tavern which prides itself on serving craft draught beer - apparently not in your establishment. To have wait staff that either don't know the basics of craft beer, or are underage and can't actually drink and therefore can't make recommendations is completely unacceptable and shows a lack of effort and/or caring on your part. The wait staff are SLOW. LIKE MOLASSES. Asking or ordering, for something usually results in a 10 minute wait or more. This is always frustrating when one can view the kitchen and see all the staff standing around chit-chatting. The staff and mangers apparently believe that the LFT exists for their benefit. What passes for service in LFT borders on "self-serve". The food has gone from reasonable to atrocious. Last Friday one person from our table ordered "beef brisket with cornbread". What arrived was regular toasted bread, with extremely fatty machine sliced roast beef (perfectly uniform from a package) covered in gravy and microwaved on top. It was overdone & disgusting. Anyone who calls themselves a chef and permits that to be served deserves to be immediately fired, if not by management, then by the owner. When asked the manager responded that she was "unable to take action against the chef". You have a problem that goes beyond food - you need to allow your managers to do their jobs. All of this behaviour signals a wanton disrespect for your customers and general lack of interest in putting out a decent product (food / service). Perhaps you should stick to serving only MiamiU undergraduates - but to be fair, I wouldn't have served that beef to my dogs - the community of Oxford deserves better. Very slow service on a slow Monday night. We had just driven in from a long day on the road to tour the campus today. It was late and we were hungry. I wasn't happy when after sitting at a table for 20 minutes I had to flag someone down for menus. Then had to flag another staff member to order drinks and food. Appetizer was delivered to table without napkins, plates or utensils, the visit was getting worse by the minute. Food finally came and server even apologized for kitchen taking forever to make food. Last time had to flag server down to get the check! Food was just ok, nothing to write home about. Safe to say we won't be going back. Masquerade's as a semi-fine dinning bar and restaurant. The food is mediocre at best. The flavors are good, but the portions and freshness are lacking. I hold out some hope for the future... What they are trying to pull off isn't quite working, yet. If they get their act together, in the future, I believe this could become a respectable eatery.
