Suffering with chronic migraine, acupuncture is one the only things that can alleviate my pain without the many side effects of the chemical treatments (triptans, beta-blockers, antidepressants which neurologists prescribe to help chronic migraine) and with a much more stable response. On the other hand, acupuncture requires a very deep knowledge and understanding to be anyhow effective.
Since I moved to NYC in October 2015, I tried several highly rated acupuncture centers (private and community) both in Manhattan and in Brooklyn, but I could never find anyone who could really help me (either too expensive to go more than once or not helping at all). I kept on switching from center to center, trying new places every time that the medication would not work.
In January 2018, during one of the longest crises I have ever experienced (more than a month in bed with continuous pain and no medication working at all), I was referred to Lefferts Community Acupuncture by my Reiki master and I thought it was worth the try, although a part of me was ready for another disappointment.
Instead, I can say out loud that I have finally found the place I was looking for (I am now going on a regular basis).
At Lefferts Community Acupuncture, I can rely on a very strong professionalism of all the practitioners who regularly treat or treated me (Mia, Tagan, Boris) and many times I entered the center in tears with difficulties to even walk or talk and left the center on my feet in a much better state.
But this is not all. Since the very first time, I was so so so surprised with the kindest attention, genuine care and warmest support that I received each and every time. No-one rushes you out. No-one puts pressure on you.
For the first time in long long time I don't feel like another invisible patient in the line, bringing money to another business. They look at you in the eyes when you explain what you are experiencing, really trying to understand what's happening in your body and why. I feel that I am a human being with a problem and that they are really putting all their knowledge and effort to help me going through my struggle and get better.
Plus, being a community acupuncture with sliding scale payments, I can go regularly, allowing a better consistence of the treatment.
Since I started to go to Lefferts Community Acupuncture, I feel safer, more protected and less lonely. I know that whenever another crises comes, I have my acupuncture practitioners that will do their best to help me. read more
