Made an appointment for a haircut but was late enough to have to reschedule, the receptionist was very accommodating & got me in the next afternoon. Embarrassed to say I was a little late for that too but got in this time. Despite the fact I probably already p the staff off enough I shouldn't expect much but got a great haircut & treatment. While talking with the girl who cut my hair learned the owner cut hair at an establishment I used to come to nearly 50 years ago (The Head Shop) for other local old timers ya gotta remember it. Anyway it was a good experiencee, a great haircut, & great memories & stoked to see dude still making it happen! The first time I went to Leedz I wasn't totally pleased with my cut but it was fine. The second time I went, when Macy was curling my hair she placed the curling iron on my bare skin and didn't notice. I told her twice that she was burning me and she didn't hear me. I had to deal with a nasty burn for weeks. During that same cut, I asked for a few inches off and there were several pieces longer than others, I had to grab scissors to finish the rest myself. read more

I always enjoyed coming here especially when I would get my haircuts from Bre. Bre was the only one that could do a proper Fade I was able to get a gold balance between a proper cut on the top since I do have curly hair with the expectations of a fade that I get at my barbers back at home. So when I found out she wasn't there I thought I'd take a chance. So I did, I ended up getting my haircut with Katia and boy do I regret it. I should of just waited for Morgan or someone more capable. Don't get me wrong Katia is nice person but I'm sorry the haircut she left me with was not good, I showed her a couple pictures for reference and she said she could do that. I left fuming, let's start with the price. I left with a $30 choppy cut that left me with a round head. I usually spend $40 for an amazing haircut in Chicago but this doesn't even compare. Let's get in to the hair.... First there was no skin fade, or even the slightest gradual blend between each layer. I asked to make it tight towards the top of my hair and blend the sides, that wasn't done. The sides are not even, one is lower than the other, and the "fade/taper" starts lower than the other. The edges of the top weren't balanced and now are bulkier than the sides. The top, I suggested cutting tips and cutting more off the crown... she didn't do that. Katia also used shears to remove the volume from my sides. I hate that and didn't bother to ask me. Since my hair is curly, shears end up creating more bulk, frizz, and uneven-ness on my hair from my experience. . Luckily, I am writing this as my roommate attempts to salvage what is there. read more

In December of 2020 I was serviced by Morgan at Leedz Salon. I consulted with her prior to my appointment about having my 4 wefts of hidden row beaded extensions moved up after nearly three months of growth. This method is extremely difficult, and Morgan assured me she would be able to do the job. While she was extremely kind and took her time completing the service, her work did not last long and I found myself back at the salon after three days due to the slippage of nearly all of my beads down the hair. This means they were not correctly installed, or that the quality of the beads was not to par. I have fine hair, but have never had this problem before or any issues like it. My previous installation from another salon lasted perfectly from September until my appointment at Leedz in December. Morgan kindly removed them, installed them again, and I was happy and on my way. Less than a week later, I am experiencing the same issues - I have beads falling out of my hair, bringing clumps of my natural hair with them. I reached out to the owner of the salon, Doug, to see about receiving either another install attempt by another stylist, or a partial refund of the installation price - not the price of my color or other fees, only the part of the service I had an issue with. I was told to expect a call that evening. The next day, he texted me after I missed a call from him at work, simply stating I would not receive any type of refund and that the slippage and damage to my hair was due to me "brushing my hair aggressively." I have had extensions for nearly a year and have never ever experienced any type of slippage near this caliber - especially after only two days, or less than a week. I use a brush that is specifically intended for extensions, and have always been careful as to increase my time between move-ups. Doug was extremely rude and did not offer any other solution to my problems, only blamed me and threatened that if I were to "slander" his company, that I would be liable and action would be taken against me. I do not recommend Leedz Salon for hidden row beaded extension services. This was my own personal experience. I got tiny blonde streaks in my hair which weren't noticeable when I put my hair in a bun at all. They charged me $236 without a shampoo or a cut. It was my first time in a salon so I thought that was the regular price. I think they took advantage of my inexperience in environments like this one. Really disappointed. read more

I went in for an all over color today with Riley. It is the best color I have ever got and the best salon experience that I have had. Riley consulted with the owner and me on the exact shade of auburn I wanted. They analyzed what from pictures of my previous hair colors I liked and used the box dye I use to pick the perfect color. After reading online reviews, I decided to book an appointment for a haircut and color at Leedz, I had some difficulty getting an appointment within a reasonable timeframe with the reservation going from the owner to another girl and finally to a third alternate which didn't leave me with warm fuzzies but I was still willing to give it a try. From the reviews, I was expecting a really trendy looking salon which Leedz is not. The girl who cut and colored my hair was nice but seemed overly interested in what other employees were doing during my appointment and I'd rate my haircut and color as mediocre at best. This is definitely a do not return for me. The experience fell flat and I wasn't crazy about the salon or the end result. read more

I decided to get my haircut while in town visiting family, and popped into this salon. Doug, the owner, cut my hair, and I was very impressed with the cut. Being from California, the price was on par with what I usually pay. I understand, though, that his price is on the upper end of customary for Ames. (Though he does have staff that offers a range of pricing.). I can tell you, it is well worth the price. With his skill, he would charge much more in CA. He is friendly, professional, and really knows what he is doing. I'm very pleased with my cut, and he was able to give me some pointers for some hair breakage issues I'm having. CUSTOMERS BEWARE!!! This is the most UNPROFESSIONAL business I've ever spent money in! Not only did I leave looking hideous because they "RAN OUT OF TIME" to finish the job, but the manager argued and blamed ME for it and then lied! I have the entire conversation recorded as proof. Yesterday I went to this salon for the first time to have my roots done. I switched salons because my previous stylist wasn't friendly and the stylist I had here wasn't much better. I knew it was going to end badly because she had to ask the manager several questions on how to go about bleaching. (Should've left when I saw that!) She didn't even wash all the bleach out--it felt so grimy and gross! Because I had about 1 1/2 inches of regrow, the top of my roots turned white, and the rest yellow. I was told this would happen, and that's fine. They suggested I re-bleach it, but I turned this option down because I didn't want that much damage in a day. The stylist suggested a high-lifting toner instead, but didn't promise it would work. I said I wanted that option, and she left, then came back and said she "didn't have time" because her next client was coming in 20 minutes! I paid $115 for an unfinished dye job. The manager reached out to ME the next day, and when I told him I was unsatisfied, he argued and blamed ME for it turning out that way! No apologies. No offer to fix it. Not only that, but he went on to say that the stylist DID have time to tone, but he told her not to do it in case it didn't work. Now I was ready to accept that this method might fail. But I wouldn't have blamed the business if it did. The fact that they left me yellow, denied what I asked for, and lied about time is what made me angry and what makes them unprofessional. So blondes, beware this business! RUN, RUN, RUN AWAY!!! And everyone else--consider yourself warned! You never know what else they won't finish on you or lie about. The owner and workers are very nice people! However I wish they would have more communication about the hair style before operating. The worker would ask about how my hair wants to be cut. I explain it and they would listen but they would be more concentrated on the previous notes and miss out some of the details I point out. Without warning sometimes hair would be to short and unfixable. Before operating I wish they would ask about it and communicate more throughout the haircut. read more
