Completely destroyed my mom's natural long nails, they cut them unbelievably short, used the ugliest polish and destroyed decades of growth before she went on vacation. Her appointment was around 11am today (2/13/26) thankfully she was able to get into another nail salon to fix the severe damage your nail tech gave her. Ask your clients what they want before you ruin their hands! Nail tech should be fired, the nail tech knows who they are as my mom commented on the length as soon as she cut them! I'm pissed off as you made her almost cry from embarrassment over her destroyed nails, -100 stars! Do not go here for acrylic nails or pedicures. Your acrylics will be messy and lay over your nail bed onto your fingers and your toe nails will be poorly cut and crooked. Do not go here. The most relaxing nail salon I have to in a while. No rush here which made it very enjoyable! Attention to detail and the foot massage was wonderful! I went here for the first time in October 2019 and I absolutely recommend this place. I got the DIP nails and a pedicure. The nails lasted almost a month and so worth the money. My nails never broke or came off like when I would get gel nails after two weeks of wearing them. Ann did my nails and she is great. Seems everyone there does a great job. They are very nice, funny and I just felt so welcomed. I live in Ankeny but this is my new place for my nails. I have been back to Pro Nails twice since my first visit and love my nails. I miss Ann and Pro Nails so much every single time I have to make a nail appointment somewhere else. I moved away from Ames after graduating and made the move to New Jersey and then Colorado in one year. I have been to at least 15 different salons in the past year trying to find a place even half as good as Pro Nails. Ann was the best ever, and I never realized how good I had it until I left. Her attention to detail was incredible, and I always felt comfortable and cared for while being there. Ann had been trying to get me to switch to Solar with Gel for a long time, and even gave me a complimentary upgrade to show me how much better it was. I never switched back. I could go four weeks between fills, and never ever broke a nail. I even worked in the restaurant industry and was extremely tough on my nails all of the time. If I had the means, I would fly back once a month to have my nails done by Ann just one more time. If you are looking for a quality nail salon and staff who genuinely care about you, then this is the spot. read more

The ladies there were sooo insanely nice! they were completely booked by the end of the day because everyone wanted to come in. I should've gotten the lady who did my nails name, but i forgot to. They were 45 dollars without tax, which is a little much.. but they definitely make up for the price for how insanely sweet they were and how much precise attention they put into their service. she was so careful to make sure they were perfect. i will definitely be going back because of their amazing nail jobs and how nice they were. i have gone to so many nail salons where i have been treated so disrespectfully because i'm in college. The first time I went to Pro Nails was back in December of 2014. One of the stylists fromEsprit Salon referred me to Tracy. She recommended Pro Nails because they are the cleanest nail salon in Ames. Tracy did a beautiful job manicuring and polishing my nails. I asked for gel polish and her work was amazing! Having worked nearly fifty hours in five days, my husband decided to treat me with a mani/pedi with the works. Michael did my pedicure with my own polish. I'd never had a paraffin wax dip before but I really enjoyed it! The foot and calf massage was heavenly. Afterwards, I sat with Tracy again and she did as wonderfully as the last time. I don't mind paying a little more money for a very clean environment and sterile implements. :) read more

I went here specifically for the organic dip, I had it done at a salon in Clive, but wanted to find a place in Ames. They removed the 4 week old (!) dip from that place and the guy immediately told me it was done poorly. Well of course you're going to say that you're better. But my one complaint with the previous application was how clunky it looked. I had resigned myself to that just being how this stuff was. Well he was right, this application is so much thinner, more uniform and way less clunky, feels more like a gel manicure than acrylic. My only complaint is how long he left my nails after I asked a couple times to go shorter. Because this stuff stays on so well, I don't want super long nails in a couple of weeks. Next time I'll either cut before coming or REALLY emphasize nail length. Definitely more pricey, but it would have lasted beyond 4 weeks if my nails weren't so long, so worth it for not having to worry about it at all for weeks. Definitely recommend the dip. read more

Love this place! They are in the old train station (okay, I think it still runs for cargo, but not passengers, so I think of it as a has been station, lol). The staff here are super friendly, professional and do a great job. There are free drinks (I had wine) and the salon atmosphere was really relaxing. I had the worst experience at this salon. They are not only rude, unsanitary and poorly run but they also don't do a good job. When my nails were done they were streaky, all past the cuticle/edge of nail and looked really bad. If you get the employee who has phone duty they will answer the phone every two minutes while doing your nails, chat on the phone, write down appointments, stop for a few minutes and then get back to you. Not only does this make the whole experience very disruptive and not enjoyable, it is also unsanitary. They also literally rip off your cuticles, my fingers were raw, sore, and red for many days after the manicure. This salon is poorly managed. Even the management is rude and gives no regard to it's customers. Usually the customer service is kind and respectful in Ames, but not at this salon. Save yourself the money, headache, time and poorly done nails. RUDE MANAGEMENT, POOR SERVICE AND BAD NAIL RESULTS. read more

Acrylic nightmare! When I told the nail tech what shape I would like I was told it would be $5 extra, just for the shape. Every side of every nail is a different length, angle, and shape. When the acrylic was applied the tech didn't hold down the skin around my nails so the sides of my fingers are covered with acrylic while the lower sides of my nails have no acrylic on them. Also the nails have Tons of bubbles that show the odd texture through the polish. The only reason I'm not rating them 1 star is because it was a clean salon. read more
