I was desperate for a cut and a style, as I was going to Chicago for the weekend with my friends and didn't want to look like a cat who had just been dropped in a bathtub. Without an appointment, I wandered into the Salon, pleaded my case, and they got me in right at that moment! Kari cut my hair that day and I can say that since then, no one has touched the hairs on my head. I only briefly explained to her what I wanted and to my delight, she made it happen. The staff is always nice and in high spirits. They all seem to get along with each other. One thing you will notice when going to the Salon is that the staff all seem to know their clients very well. They are very personable and always focused on their client. The products they use are top of the line and really great. They always make my hair feel so strong and healthy. They also have a very nice selection of cosmetics and will help you pick out shades and products. While I don't have any children, I've seen several kids come in for a cut, and would recommend the Salon to someone with kids. I've mostly seen Josh doing kids cuts and he is so good with them. He makes them feel comfortable and makes jokes with them. I've even heard him tell children that the products he is putting in their hair (mostly detangling spray after washing) is magic. While it's definitely not the place to go if you don't want to drop a pretty penny, I always recommend the Salon to people and will continue to come back for every haircut.

Hayleigh? I'm not sure how it's spelled) at the north Ames location. I just wanted my hair trimmed and a lightened -- balayage, highlights, whatever -- I didn't really care. I always trust my stylist to do what makes the most sense. That's it. Trim the dead ends and make my hair blonder. She seemed confident so I totally trusted her. First, she left me sitting with bleach in my hair for 40 minutes while she LEFT to go eat her dinner. She came back, took my to the sink to shampoo/rinse and put a toner in my hair. She left me there for another 55 minutes (super uncomfortable sitting with your head in a sink for 55 minutes lol) while she left to GO TO THE CAFE ACROSS THE STREET. What? She went to go buy cheesecake with her coworkers. She came back, ate her cheesecake, then came back to me. She washed my hair, blow dried it, and it was awful. My hair was grey and purple. Then she trimmed it, and screwed up the trimming around my face so much I ended up looking like I had a mullet. A grey and purple mullet. Yes. Anywho, I was polite about it but said I was unhappy and surprised by the result. She offered to try and fix it the next day and I declined and just asked to not be charged. They declined my request, and charged me almost twice the amount it said I'd be charged on their website ($113 on their website, and they charged $197). I went to Leedz Salon the next day and they fixed it. They're wizards. Please just go to Leedz instead and stay far away from this place.

I received a haircut from Kristen. It was a big mistake I asked for the hairstyle of the red…read morehaircut with a shorter back. I was getting a big chop. Instantly she started trimming to short, I should have stopped her and I regret I never did. Left with a choppy haircut and very short and long pieces and had so much weight on the top of it. Kaylie was kind enough to see me later that day a fix the damage however I am still left with a hairstyle that is so short compared to what I want originally and still with spots shorter due to the first haircut. I'm devastated to have paid for this haircut that has killed my self esteem..I am grateful for the team that stepped up and tried to fix it. Well the story continues after booking multiple appointments with Kaylie, they recently adjusted their timing on their appointments from One hour to 45 minutes. So I kindly reached out on Instagram, asking about this and mentioning how I felt my hair was taking a little over an hour, and if there would be enough time. Their response was to let me know that my communication with them has not been good, so they declined to see me there anymore. When asking about my communication, and for more clarification based on confusion as I had only been making appointments with no other communication since the hiccup of this haircut (pictured). This was made out of the blue after encouraging me to continue to see other stylist at their salon. I would not recommend the salon as it seems they are hoping just to get in as many clients as possible.
