Surprisingly enjoyable pizza! I say that because we weren't expecting much for a small restaurant in the off-season. The pizza was hot and flavorful, service was great and the pre-meal salad was full of fresh veg. My husband actually wanted to come for a second meal (but alas no time). We reached Fairlee, VT after a 3 1/2 hr drive from Manchester, NH on a Saturday afternoon. We had to carb load for a marathon in Vermont the next morning. This experience at Leda's Pizza was the most interesting possible, since I still remember it as I write this 2 weeks later, after the fact. My friend picked me up at the relatively nearby Lake Morley resort and we decided on pizza for dinner that night. He suggested Leda's pizzeria that was basically down the road. The short of this story is, once we heard lightning after filling up the gas tank, a short time later after we entered Leda's Pizza to place an order, it was raining. Like torrential kind. Would not let up for 45 minutes, so we had to run out to the car with our order trying not to get soaked to the core. We arrived around 5:15pm on a casual Saturday night in May 2022. We initially thought about dining in, but during our brief experience here at Leda's Pizzeria and restaurant, the air conditioning broke and it was hot. You could feel the humidity. It wasn't the way to have / gorge on pizza while keeping in mind that you had a marathon to run the next morning. And as such, we ended up grabbing a take out order while waiting for the rain to stop. Once the rain started to part ways, we made a run for it to the car and it was interesting. During our wait, it was nice to hear the local folks chitchatting about life in the area. It was interesting to be a tourist and so far from home and not have a culture shock about it. I guess I travel enough to where nothing really is shocking anymore these days. Been there, done that, as they say. The experience here took about 45 minutes from entering and exiting. The overall experience here at Leda's pizzeria and restaurant here in rural Vermont was mixed, interesting, and casual. Too bad about the air conditioning, or the experience would have turned out much different and more fun. We ended getting take out and wished we stayed, but decided not to because of the air conditioning, or lack there of. The lady at the front desk was nice and friendly. She seemed to look like she was in high school, which was cool. The restaurant itself was fairly small, but could seat about 30 people at its max, I believe. For the most part though, having Leda's pizzeria and restaurant near where my friend and I was staying is basically a godsend and a hidden gem in the area. We ended up getting a large pizza with everything on it, along with two side orders of french fries. He basically went to the dollar store choice zero by for drinks and other necessities for the short stay here in Vermont. What else is there to say about this restaurant, other than the food was very good especially for takeout purposes. I enjoyed the french fries first, because it was fresh and warm before we dug into the pizza after coming out of the rainstorm and into our hotel arrangements. If you catch yourself here in this rural area of Fairlee, Vermont or passing through, and needing a good pizza pie on this side of extremely eastern Vermont, consider this homespun pizzeria and restaurant as your destination of choice. It's pretty cool they are located right across the the New Hampshire state line. Leda's pizza and restaurant is located in the foothills of southeastern Vermont. It's physical address is 45 S US-5 in Fairlee, Vermont. Not the easiest to get to, but If you are nearby and want good sustainable awesomeness, come on by. Definitely recommended food for the soul, especially after a rainstorm that dampen everything but the human spirit. As far as parking goes, they have a huge customer parking lot for y'all who come here for all things pizza and everything else they have to offer. This side of south eastern Vermont does not have a local public transportation system, so your best bet would be to rent a car or have one of your own. Greyhound and Amtrak can take you only so far. I'm sure Uber/Lyft can try to accommodate you too, but a car or truck is best suited for this one. I did enjoy the ambiance and the down to earth vibe of this establishment. No frills, friendly service, and unfortunately, no air conditioning. Hopefully they got it fixed. I couldn't really stand no air conditioning. It was pretty maddening actually. 4.0 stars for the overall experience, even with the crap air conditioning. 4.0 stars for the prices, which is quite reasonable for this rural area. 4.0 stars for the service and food. Despite the old reviews here I tried them and found them to be friendly and courteous in addition to making a fantastic pizza! The crust is thin and the proportions are just right! I prefer well done and they do that to perfection. I am well versed in and love New Haven and NYC pizza, I know good pizza, this is very good pizza, especially for a small town. I've been back satisfying my craving for it several times and have found they are consistently good. Highly recommended. read more

Worst customer service of all time. Me and my family ordered buffalo wings for dinner and they were delicious. Rye next day we were dying for the wings again. We ordered buffalo wings for the second time and they gave us barbecue so we called and asked if we could get the buffalo. They said yes and so we drove back to pick them up. No problem but we really wanted the buffalo. Leda's husband came out to our car and berated my 16 and 17 year old sisters. He said that "mild buffalo" wings are actually barbecue? He refused to give us new wings unless we brought the old wings back or paid him. We called again after to try and work through the confusion and Leda told us to go back home to MA and then hung up. We have a family of ~20 that vacation in Fairlee all summer long. None of us will ever be ordering from here again. read more

Ordered a couple of pizzas online for a later pick-up. Arrived a couple hours later for the pick-up and the staff was friendly. The process was flawless. Unfortunately, the pies were not as good as the experience. Dough tasted a bit stale and the bacon a bit on the raw-side. read more

Leda's Pizza had become a Fairlee landmark, outlasting several in-town competitors. The pandemic hurt us all, but Leda's came back strong with a streamlined menu and great service. Tonight we ordered a chicken caesar salad and a hamburger grinder. The salad was terrific: well-prepared chicken breast sections; delicious croutons; crisp lettuce; and more. The grinder was a nice take on a classic cheeseburger, just different enough to be interesting. Give this place a visit. read more

I am not a local in Fairlee but spent plenty of time in VT in the past and am a native new englander. This place has decent pizza for a small town but some of the other offerings are substandard. The waitstaff is below substandard. I asked the grumpy old lady if they made the gyros themselves or not and I was not judgmental about it. She replied that "it's Fairlee" with some disdain, and they did not have the volume to justify making that themselves. No problem I ordered pizza which was good. My wife made the mistake of ordering souvlaki which was yuck. I also ordered a spinach pie dinner to share with the family and that, listed as a dinner was $13 bucks. Turns out it was a 4x4 square on a plate that would sell for $4.50 at the very highest in any normal expensive city in the NE. When I asked her if this was the "dinner" and it was too small to be $13bucks she glared and berated me saying "do you know how much work that takes to make?" As if they had elves working to death to make just one tiny piece at a time. This was all in front of my wife and 2 kids too. It was certainly not gourmet, and as she said, "it's Fairlee" and not the Ritz. It was simply a stupid price for what would be considered a snack anywhere, and this place is the opposite of fancy or special. I asked to send it back as it was too small to share and was not a dinner of any kind. She of course refused and glared and berated so I of course left no tip. It was a maddening experience to pay $13 for a freakin snack, crappy souvlaki and sour attitude of a waitress who seemed to resent non-local patrons who are not enthusiastic about ripoff and smile dining. The front desk woman apologized and said she would discuss but give the reviews and the demeanor and just the lameness of anything other than the pizza I would not get any hopes. Leda's has been in business for almost 29 years on Rt 5 in Fairlee. The family-run restaurant offers traditional Italian fare along with Greek specialties from its heritage. Since I was in a hurry, I chose two grinders to go for myself and my travel companion. While waiting, I watched Leda hand take-out pizzas to many happy folks who appeared to repeat customers. Leda was very friendly giving me history of operating a long term pizza shop in a seasonal town. The sandwiches were good and under ten bucks. After seeing the pictures here on Yelp, next time it will be a specialty pizza or a Greek dish for sure. read more

Well, it started out with a walk in the doors a older lady came out and said I'll be a few minutes. While standing in the main entry way I looked around with my mother. Thick layers of dust surround you in this very old looking building. A few minutes later an older gentleman came and sat us at a table. It smelled extremely musty. The older lady came over to take our order we had take out and eat in.... she only had her check for eat in since they use different ones she had to go get the other. She put the eat in book on the table and said "your a pain in the ass" she smiled could tell she was joking. I'm totally not offended by that but many would be. We got two chicken parm subs. Very little to them. They were simple. I wouldn't recommend this place by any means. I mean maybe to just take out however there prices are high for very minimal. read more

After speaking to an employee we found a menu on line. We asked if that menu was correct and he said yes. Our bill came to over $175. I looked at the prices and realized that we were over charged. I told them this could not be right and they said the menu on line had changed and the prices went up. For this they lost one star. Then I saw a charge for $5. I asked what it was for and they said for the parmesan cheese. I find this outrageous. I said that most Italian places offer it for free. We did not have a good experience at Leda's and I would not go back there. I ordered a glass of wine that was stale and tasted like the bottle had been opened and sitting around for weeks. We have tried Leda's twice since moving up to the Upper Valley and they were two totally different experiences. The first time we tried their cheese pizza, pepperoni pizza and a meat lovers style pizza. They were all excellent and we were very impressed, even the crust was decent. The second time we tried their Mediterranean pizza, which is supposed to have chicken, tomato's, feta, cherry peppers, and olives. To our surprise the crust was think and dry and the toppings were 90% spicy cherry peppers, a few small pieces of chicken, a couple of olives, with no feta found! The first couple trips there were a nice, average experience with average food and slow but friendly service. Our (husband, wife, child) third time there we ordered to-go. When we arrived, we asked if we could sit and eat. We were told yes (by the wife/owner). We were then ignored for a while... From the kitchen we heard the wife/owner tell the husband/owner we were going to sit and dine in the restaurant. That was when the husband/owner started swearing and throwing things in the kitchen! She brought our food to the table in to-go containers and told us (upon her husbands kitchen instructions) that the policy was to-go orders had to be taken to-go, and couldn't be changed to "dine in". We apologized and said we would leave. She said it was alright and that we could stay. About 2 minutes into our meal, the husband/owner comes out of the kitchen, stands and glares at our family. I politely smile toward him, and he rudely states "This will never happen again." While waiving his hand around, then turns his back on us and sits in the dining room. We asked for our check and left as soon as possible. Not only have we never been so disrespected in a restaurant, it was the owner himself that did the disrespecting! If you like eating mediocre food while running the chance of your loved ones being sworn at, screamed in front of, and disrespected - this is the place for you!! read more
