Went to buy tamales and sweet bread, ordered $15 dollars of bread, (to much hype about the bread being one of the best, I have had better and close by), and 4 orders of tamales, the person at the register charged me for the bread and the tamales, my husband said 4 orders where to much lets just take 3, so I told the lady that we decided to just take 3 dozens and to just refund me the amount of one dozen, so the lady charged me again $27.02 again for one order then refund it back, the thing is that the original transaction of the 4 dozens went thru and now they are saying that they refunded the one dozen. (I have both recipes and going thru my bank to dispute it as fraud) People watch out for this type of scams. read more

I visited today based on Yelp reviews and I was pleasantly greeted w aromas, kindness and great prices. Visiting this place was a pleasure. One half of the business is an eatery and the other a self-serve bakery. This review is based on bakery portion of the establishment. Cakes are under refrigerated on your left. Assistance is anticipating you. Bakery items for self-serve are located on the right in the lucite cases against the wall. To start your journey you will need two items before you begin. First grab across from the cases a tray to tenderly place your bakery treasures upon. Second, pick up a set of tongs to grab those bakery treasures. When you have finished your treasure hunting turn to the back of the bakery past the coffee station to the long counter on the left wall where waiting assistance is anticipating you. They will bag your bakery treasures. And they will Total your order which they hand you & direct you to the cashier. Next turn towards the front of the establishment & get in line to pay. At the cashier station in addition to checking out, you can order breakfast tacos for to go. As a non Spanish speaker I was treated so nicely here. The customers were accommodating & pointed out the process where to line up and the rest was intuitive. I will work on my Spanish. And in the meantime refer others to this lovely bakery. The recipients of the treats I purchased hail from San Fran. They were DELIGHTED by the yummies from Lecaroz. And I hope you find your experience just as pleasant. Definitely not the best pan dulce I've had. Authentic - yes, would I crave it again? No. Growing up I loved conchas! The conchas and pretty much all the pan are missing something. If I knew I'd be making them myself. Everything is just okay. Don't get me wrong - the pan is good. The prices are incredible! But they don't remind me of my childhood. Y'all better watch how they over charge you! I know this place and I've gone for years at the original one near Chimney Rock, and this place is a shame. I decided to purchase the same items 3x and guess what?! All those three times numbers were different. Walked in when a man was coughing right over the bread & even after I told the woman who clearly was in front and saw it too, they did nothing to remove the coughed on bread. I'm not a fan of Mexican bakeries, but I do admit that I like this one. And because I don't usually like Mexican bakeries, and this one is far superior than the one in Fiesta, I have to give this one a good rating. I'm used to Latin bakeries that utilize more cream and Mexican bakeries tend to sell more "bread" than cream type of pastries. Nonetheless, I had two things here that will make me come back often - even though it's just for those two things. But you should try them too.... 1) Espejos (English: Mirrors) - flaky (hojaldre) pastries with cream cheese and a sugary caramel glaze on top 2) Bombas con crema pastelera or "donut rellenas" (English: filled donuts; Italian: bombolones) - fried donut with sugar on the outside and a baker's cream inside, similar to Boston creme I was pleasantly surprised by the bombas since I don't normally see them around Houston and it's usually an Italian or South American treat rather than Mexican. And here, they make it well. And while the espejos are uniquely Mexican, I enjoy the pastries very much. They'll satisfy any one of your sweet tooth, and at an excellent price! read more

The baked good selection is smaller than that of a Las Arrandas, but what I did try was delicious. The prices were about the same of Las Arrandas, maybe a bit more but not enough for me to notice. The baked goods we did try were all amazing. I think the place has an under 5$ policy no card payment. We had to pay cash, so be aware. It may be 10$ - there was no sign posted but our total was something around 3-4$. Las Arrandas does not have that, if its a factor into your purchase. read more

The cake was fresh but i had wished the icing was a touch sweeter; the cake was a hit though & it was exactly what my son wanted! The only reason i would give 4 stars instead of 5 is because they wrote "Happy Birthday" on the top even though i asked them not to due to the shape of the cake vs the type of candles my son wanted to use. I am not a big stickler but for someone who is this might have ruined the whole bday cake situation lol..other than that detail the cake, experience, and price were spot on! My parents Recommended this place so I ordered a gender reveal cake from here. I also had a pre-order for two birthday cakes one this week and the other next week. I specifically asked the owner (or who I believe is the owner- Hispanic male) what color and what design I wanted. I even showed pictures so they could make my perfect customized cake. He claimed it was a non issue and that they've done this before. When I came to pick up my gender reveal cake they told me they could not find the decorations I wanted and tried to improvise to make the decorations out of frosting. Never in this process did they tried to contact me to let me know the decorations were not available or to ask me if I wanted a different option since the decorations were not available. It looks literally like they had a five-year-old try to put down frosting on the cake. I will never ever go back here again and recommend you don't either. The owner is the one that handled my order and gave me my cake. If I cannot get him to understand how the business could have bettered the situation I don't know how to prevent this from happening to someone else. I hope other people do not have the same experience that I had. I could not reason with the manager and he did not care to fix the design or frosting on the cake either. He just kept my money and was happy with it. I would have appreciated if from the beginning they could have said no we are not able to do that, what else can we do for you? Instead of trying to make a cake and doing a poor job on it. Needless to say when I receive my first cake I canceled my order for the week after and made sure I got that money back I personally like to support local smaller businesses but I will not be supporting this one. read more

I really like this bakery. I grew up with their very first bakery located on Chimney rock and my favorite bread there has always been their sweet Empanadas. This place opened up and I hesitated a long time. I went to it during a holiday party and just picked up all kinds of breads. Holiday breakfast "Mexican" party was awesome!!!! The bread was a hit with hot chocolate La Abuelita, which they sell there too. The owners are very very friendly and they have always been superb with their customers. Just all-around amazing value for the price. Their bakes goods are dirt cheap (croissant for $0.80!!), their cakes are delicious and not too sweet, and the tacos. Oh the tacos. Especially the barbacoa and the carnitas. They even have breakfast tacos! There is pretty good cinnamon coffee too; they grind their own beans and they have Mexican hot chocolate as well. And the ladies inside are so sweet! I used to live right next to this place and would stop by to get breakfast almost everyday.
