I can't believe I never wrote a review for this amazing place! I have used them a couple times for purse restoration and leather jacket repair. I had a lambskin Chanel bag from the 90s that had seen better days. I emailed Gerry and told him what I wanted - I wanted him to replate the gold chain (Chanel used real gold back then) and spruce up the leather on the inside and outside of the bag. I was lucky the quilted leather didn't flatten out like some bags. I sent my bag in and a few weeks later, my bag came back in perfect condition along with a letter certifying that it was a real Chanel bag. He did an amazing job! I also sent in SO's Armani leather jacket that got damaged when he threw it on top of sticky tape (I was trying to train my kitty lol) and he also sent that back in great condition. I am someone with VERY high standards and Leather Surgeons have just blown me away! They are so incredibly detailed and thoughtful about their services. My 40 year old Chanel Jumbo single flap had a lot of scratches on there and the leather in the chain was coming apart in one area and she was dull and tired. I shipped her off to Leather Surgeons and she came back stuffed with tissue for support, wrapped in tissue to protect the bag and the chain AND she was in a Leather Surgeon dust bag (I sent her off with a LV dust bag). Poor boy (yes, a he) has accumulated years of grime, scuffs, and discoloration no matter how hard I tried to clean him at home. I actually think I made him worse by attempting to DIY clean/condition. Leather Surgeons promptly reached back out to me to let me know it would be a tough job but quoted me and I was honestly expecting a much higher figure. I am beyond pleased with how my Chanel bag was returned to me from Leather Surgeons. I have a Chanel Maxi Lambskin Chocolate Bar Single Flap, black lambskin with brown stitching. The lambskin had started to fade, the leather in the chain had started to fray and the brown stitching had started to come apart in many places, making it look messy and unkempt. I received my bag back from Leather Surgeons today and it is perfect. It looks brand new. The brown stitching was a concern as they were not sure they had the same thread to match the already existing thread, but it looks more than perfect. The lambskin is soft as ever and extra shiny. One of my Chanel bags had a broken piece of hardware. I sent the bag and they cleaned it and replaced the hardware. My vintage bag looked brand new when I got it back. Then I asked if they could do spot treatment on a Veronica Beard leather skirt I spilled hummus on. I thought the skirt was ruined, as it had an oil stain on it from the food. I bought a pre-owned Celine bag online that had a small glue stain on the zipper and the edges were slightly scruffed. Also the strap was way too long. I sent my bag off to Leather Surgeons to give her a spa service (since pre-owned) plus I wanted them to put a protector spray on it. The whole process was seamless. Hunter was wonderful in his detailed communication- I felt comfortable to send my bag off and trusted she was in good hands. She came back in better condition than I expected. This is the second time I have sent handbags in to be repaired / restored/ receive a spa treatment. Just like the first time, I am utterly amazed at how beautiful my bags have come back. I tried to attach photos, but for some reason, that's not working. Their work: My 1989-1990 Chanel Lambskin had worn corners, and a "flat tire" look to the base (my hub's words, not mine), and overall looked tired. I had to double check the serial number. I couldn't believe it was really my bag-that is how beautifully restored it was returned to me. I also sent in a Chanel suede flap from the same time period that had a hole in the back, lower corner, was misshapen, and overall in sad shape. The hole is gone, and the shape is restored. It looks beautiful. My grey 50th Anniversary Reissue received a spa, and the leather is supple, and beautiful. Their customer service: Hunter is truly patient, and thorough in his responses. Gerry is a rock star-no other words for it. He is truly honest and transparent about what can be done, super nice, friendly, and incredibly gifted at what he does. Cory is incredibly patient, and responsive. These guys are true gems: professional and skilled at what they do! Their packaging is also thorough, and beautifully done. My bags were carefully wrapped, and packaged, and I love the dustbags and authenticity certificates that they include. I have sent other Chanel bags and one Hermes bag to them before and their job has always been decent. I do have to say I've never used another company to compare. They don't work miracles like some people claim but Leather Surgeons never claim to work miracles either. They do very good jobs at cleaning leather but touch ups are a bit rough around the edges and the little details are not precise. Sometimes they close the bag before things fully dry and the leather stick together a bit leaving light imprints sometimes. Before this time I would rate their work at 3.5-4 stars. My issue this time is on replacing the fabric lining to my Chanel bag. My bag and lining is DARK beige. They told me they have the fabric but the color might be SLIGHTLY different but when I received my bag back the lining was VERY different color. It was ivory with a greenish tint. Very obviously mismatched compared to the warm dark beige color on the rest of the bag. I reached out to them they said I have to pay for a new service. So I paid around $300 first time and they're expecting a whole amount of $300 again. I tried to work with them on this but they wouldn't budge. $600 total for this work? I'm so disappointed in the color so I tried to sell it to a consignment shop but they refused to accept the bag because of the interior they deemed the bag inauthentic! read more
