I was inspired to make a DIY journal cover and went here with no experience of leather working. They have a bin of scrap leather for purchase and some sale items. Sale items are on refundable. Minimum purchase is a whole hide or half hide for bigger ones. Their smaller hides are lamb skin which was around $50-60 bucks for a medium size. Their cow hide, they can do half hide which is what I did since it was so big. I got quite a few journal covers out of that as well as a couple passport holders.

Now, if you want to fly to the UK and buy a balsa wood block there, then yes, you can get it cheaper. But if you're buying in the US, be prepared to pull out your credit card and cringe. Millinery is a dying art form and a very, very expensive craft. That's just the way it is. Could not have been happier with the way the dress fit in the end. The second time I saw Mark was equally as wonderful for a very different reason. I brought in a formal dress that I thought was too short and needed to be made into cocktail length. He saw me on short notice and fit me into a busy day. Once I got there and tried on the dress, he convinced me the dress was beautiful just as it was, even forgoing a paycheck for what he thought looked best. He contacted me today around 1 PM and asked that I come in to get them; the results were beautiful and I've never been happier with tailoring before.
