I called today at 5:45 pm to inquire about making an appointment for handbag hot stamping. I figured I'd get voicemail- or at best an invitation to stop by in a few days. To my surprise, Michael told me to come by before the office closed at 6:30 pm. Since I was only a few blocks away at Century 21, I gunned it the 0.5 miles and made it with 30 minutes to spare. The building is easy to miss if you're not careful, so look for the numbers closely. Take one of the elevators on the right side of the building as only they can access floors 12-20. This office is on the 17th floor of the building. When I walked in, Michael asked to see the pieces I wanted stamped and proceeded to show me the font types and sizes available. Within a few minutes, my accessories were on the heavy duty machine to be stamped! I was able to watch as they were being processed. Extremely delighted with the attention to detail, care and professionalism offered here. At only $25 for 3 letters, this is a steal for such a personalized service with immediate turn around time. This is a great, hidden gem in NYC. After reading the positive reviews, I called and asked them for a quote on engraving initials on a leather Kindle paperwhite case. Brad invited me to stop by so he could look at the item and engrave it. They have both gold and silver foil for engraving, and Brad did the engraving while I waited (see photo). It took only about 5 minutes and came out great. (Side note: Before engraving, he said if it did not come out well, he would not charge me.) He charged $25 for initials ($30 for name). I'd highly recommend Sam Swick for anyone looking to engrave leather items. I will be returning. Thanks, Brad! This is one of my favorite hidden gems in the city. I've had things monogrammed ever since I was little, and I've had a few occasions where I needed to have some of my leather goods monogrammed because the store didn't offer the service. I've brought in a brown leather tote bag that I had embossed with my initials and gold, and a Jack Spade wallet that I got for my boyfriend as a gift. For the wallet, I opted for the monogram to be stamped and not embossed. Three and two years later, respectively, the work on both still look amazing, and it was cool to be able to watch them do it in front of you. The shop is in a large office building off Exchange Place so you might miss it, but it's definitely worth the trek, even if you don't normally go down to FiDi. I can't remember the two gentleman's names who've helped me, but both of them were incredibly nice and clearly know their leather. It cost between $20 and $30 both times I've been, which is the most reasonable pricing I've been able to find. I'll be coming here whenever I need something personalized as long as they're around! read more

I made several attempts to find someone who would do gold stamp engraving on the cover in the simple elegant style I wanted, with a line of text and a second date line. I was reluctant to try Sam Swick at first, only because their financial district location was a bit of a trip from my home (until I discovered that it was an easy trip by subway). I am so glad I went to them. Their tiny office near the Stock Exchange is full of boxes and catalogues and samples.
