Not sure how I missed this place before, maybe it was the lack of reviews or that is tucked away off the main strip. Since moving to the area I've tried a couple of places nearby and either wasn't too fond of the work, the service or the price. I dropped off a pair of working boots which I ripped the leather and a pair of Cole Haan booties that needed a new heel. For a reasonable price my boots were glued and even polished (I never could of imaged they look this good again) and the Cole Haan pair was repaired perfectly (anything that makes my favorites last longer makes me happy. Rose was wonderful and the small and personal shop makes we want to return again. I'll definitely be returning here whenever I need other soles saved.

The boss was fine, but the staff was truly rude. Dealing with such a thing on Saturday literally ruined my weekend. Therefore, I wish to share the whole story with you guys here. On my third visit, I clearly told the staff that I didn't want to spend too much on an outsole replacement, since this particular pair of shoes only cost $95. I even said that if the cost was too high, I would prefer to buy a new pair. The staff assured me the job would be $35, which I agreed to. However, when I returned to pick up the shoes, I was suddenly told the price was $85. I felt helpless since there was no invoice given, and the service has already been done. When I questioned the change, the staff became rude and dismissive, showing a very negative attitude rather than calmly explaining the misunderstanding. It turns out the $35 quote was only for the heel--not the full sole replacement--which was never made clear to me. Thankfully, the boss stepped in and agreed to a $50 charge, which I accepted. But the damage was already done in terms of the experience. After the boss agreed on $50, the staff becomes even more rude to me. This is the reason why I would like to share this experience with everybody else to help your guys avoid such experience. What made this worse is that I had already been tolerant in the past. For example, during a previous service, the staff got black oil/dirt on my shoes which was a pair of brand new Saint Laurent sandals with retail price $770 dollars before tax, but I chose not to complain and continued to support the business. I expected a little more care and respect in return. Please refer to the attached pic for more details. After this last visit, I've lost trust in this store. I don't recommend going to a place where simple communication turns into conflict and customers are treated with such negativity. There are many other stores out there--choose one that values honesty and respectful service.

The zipper on my cabin carry-on had jammed completely and I couldn't get the bag open or closed properly. I brought it in expecting to leave it for at least a few hours if not a day or two. Instead, the person helping me took a look, got to work, and had the zipper unstuck and running smoothly in about 15 minutes while I waited. What really impressed me is that he didn't just fix it, he showed me how to handle it myself if it ever happens again. His technique: overstuff the bag so the fabric draws out and the tension increases around the zipper track, then give the caught area a few firm flicks with the edge of a credit card. The added tension plus the flicking releases the fabric from the zipper teeth. Simple, clever, and the kind of trade knowledge you only get from people who have been doing this for a long time.

The bags were returned by FedEx and have a glossy luster and shine now. The black bag looks like new and the white is better but not perfect.

This guys is a scam. I've been taking my shoes to get repaired for years. This was the first (and…read morelast) time I go here. 1) They over charge. The nice middle-aged owner/employee comes out from the back room in response to the jingling of the bells hanging on the door. This (sadly) prevented me from being able to hit the counter-top bell that you see all the annoying people in the movies do. I had brought a pair of expensive men's shoes w/ worn down heels to the shop. I asked how much it would cost to fix the heels, and he quoted me the price of $25. **This seemed pretty reasonable and I asked if they took credit card. For the record they do not, which is understandable, although I had a few more pairs of shoes in dire need of repair that I have since brought over and had fixed, this required a trip to the ATM. Anyway, I conveniently saw a sign right at eye level (yes, I obviously missed it the first time) saying that they only take cash or check.** It costs $40 to put some rubber on the bottom of the front part of the shoe (to prevent slippage), and while it's not an amazing deal, the work is good and the shoes are often done much more quickly than the quoted date. Like any repair shop, you are quoted a price upfront, after your item is examined, and then you pay in full (and in cash, in this case) and are given a tag w/ PAID stamped on it. My wife found Mr. Maksoud's. At first I was a bit hesitant, but gave it a shot. The place is exactly what I like. Small, the smell of leather and shoe polish that greets you upon entering. Shoes and handbags strewed about. And in the middle of it all is George. Positive, quick with witty retorts, and busy working. He put new heels on a pair of old Cole Haan boots, that I wasn't ready to let go of. George even said they are nice and worth keeping. After about 9 days, I returned to pick them up. The work was great and the price was excellent. 40 dollars. Other places in the area would have charged double. I'm so glad my wife found this place. George also makes keys.

Although they were a tremendous help in repairing a zipper on my luggage a couple of years ago, I was still a little apprehensive because I'd never taken a clothing item there before.
