This is my second year ordering my 2 year old pup a cake from Leash and Collar, and it's always been a smooth simple process via the ordering website. They also are super accommodating on days they do not make cakes. They always have made my pick up date work, so I appreciate that. My pup lovesss her cakes every year and the goodies. I will say the only frustrating thing is they sometimes aren't stocked with the bone marrow bones and it's clearly the most popular item and I wish they wouldn't run out of them. I have popped in several times to purchase and they are always out but thankfully when I picked up the cake they had plenty and was able to purchase one for my pups birthday!
It is unfortunate that her version of events seems to change depending on the circumstances. The very first time I called her--the first interaction we had after I left the store--her immediate response was that she would NOT refund my money and that there was no other cake available to replace it. Those were her exact words. She then blamed me for how I transported the cake. What is even more disappointing is that the story continued to evolve afterward, rather than simply acknowledging what was actually said and taking responsibility. I was there, and I remember the conversation very clearly, so I find it quite surprising to now hear a completely different version of events. By the way, she refuses to refund me but accepts to have the cake back.
I stopped by Leash and Collar and saw the owner closing up got the evening. I wasn't looking for anything for my pup and was actually headed to meet up with friends for something else. I asked the owner if it was okay to go inside and she was completely welcoming. The shop is so cute and cozy. There are so many different kinds of dog treats, toys, clothing...etc. The best part for me is they have a little dog bakery area. There are cookies mini cakes and cupcakes. They also do custom order cakes for you pups as well. I ended up buying the last squirrel shaped cookies and a birthday bone cookie for my little Mav. The prices for the 2 cookies are reasonable for a local small business. I will definitely be back to shop when I have more time. I love supporting local businesses and this will be my new go to for my furbaby.
Leash and Collar is such an adorable dog boutique! It is located on the corner of 19th and Q St - diagonally across the street from Truitt Bark Park. The store has a surprising variety of toys, treats, leashes, collars, freshly baked dog cookies and "pup cakes". On the day we visited, we saw 3 different types of pup cakes: peanut butter, pumpkin, or banana. Now I know where we can go for a birthday/"gotcha" cake! The young woman who helped us was friendly and offered our puppy a treat - which he loved and we ended up purchasing a bag. We also purchased a few dehydrated duck heads, a cheese bar, a bag of dehydrated duck treats, and a cute dinosaur toy. Our puppy was quite happy!
Perfect, just as I imagined for my baby's first birthday! I ordered the bone cake, peanut butter flavor. Oliver loved it and it was his after dinner treat for a couple of days. I also really appreciated the customer service. When I looked online to order the cake, I didn't realize you had to order 48 hours in advance. Luckily, I was able to pick up the cake 24 hours later.
Today we stopped in to get the birthday boy some treats for his 10th birthday! Got some bully sticks and a peanut butter bday cake with Greek yogurt frosting, two of his fave flavors!! 10/10 from Atom! Thanks for much for making his birthday extra special!
I LOVE this place! I should have reviewed it earlier, as my most recent trip was our 4th visit. Leash & Collar has a bunch of cute pet-themed human and animal apparel, but where this place really shines is in its treat selection. This is the only shop where I've been able to find whole rabbit head, rabbit paws, quail heads and feet, and very high-quality dehydrated beef liver. Our Cavalier absolutely destroyed all of what we bought, and we can feel good about giving these treats to her since they're essentially just a dehydrated version of fresh animal parts. Leash & Collar is also the only treat seller that I've seen keep both the animal skin and fur on the morsel - having the treats this way makes them all the more enticing for our doggie (who is VERY picky) and all the more nutritious/beneficial to her. We'll be back again very soon, I'm certain!!
If you're a dog owner and love shopping local for high quality products for your pooch, then Leash & Collar is your spot! On the corner of Q & 19th, it's in the most dog-friendly area of midtown... kitty corner from Truitt Bark Park and right next to Acheson Wine (where they welcome your dog to join you while you wine taste). Awesome. I first learned of Leash & Collar during their Tricks for Treats event last year during October and got to check them out, admiring that there were items front and center for the current season. I also saw that they offer baked goods for dogs like birthday pupcakes. Fast forward to now when I was in the area and decided to pop in and pick up a treat for my birthday boy, which he happily devoured. This shop is impeccably clean and very well-organized. I've been to several specialty dog stores in various cities and they usually fall into one or more of the typical boutique pitfalls: either grossly overpriced or packed full of generic things that you know you can find elsewhere. Leash & Collar, on the other hand, does a great job of stocking a variety of products that I don't mind paying a few extra bucks for given the quality. The pricing on most items seems actually quite reasonable. I have noticed that the sizes seem to be stocked more for small and medium dogs. I saw a few things I really liked but the sizing was questionable for my golden retriever, so I'll have to definitely bring him by next time to try things on in person. The staff here is always so incredibly friendly and welcoming! It's so refreshing these days to get treated like a valued customer. I always leave having had a five star shopping experience at Leash & Collar. Definitely worth checking them out.
I feel awful that I've somehow never reviewed Leash and Collar!!! My dog, Blair.. and I love this place! The owner, Patty has always been so extremely nice to us. Has gone above and beyond and treats Blair like her own dog!!! The shop is adorable it's right next to the dog park in midtown! Perfect location for a pet store. The shop has everything from leashes, collars, stickers, treats, raincoats for dogs, bandanas.. you name it they have it! The best part about this shop is it's local and Patty does an amazing job hosting so many great events. She also gives back to the community! If you haven't been, check it out! It will easily become your favorite pet store!
Leash & Collar is a great little dog boutique with excellent toys, clothes, treats, and accessories. The cakes, though! They are reasonably priced and customizable. My dog has IBD and is on a prescription low-fat diet. I was able to order his birthday cake without peanut butter in the Greek-yogurt frosting. Their cakes come in three flavors. I ordered the banana for his birthday and was so impressed with the cake, I ordered the pumpkin for the dogs to share at Thanksgiving. Since it wasn't a birthday cake, I asked that they either write Happy Thanksgiving on it or pipe a turkey. They created this custom bone instead! I was so pleasantly surprised. I added the pilgrim pups at the top. Thank you, Leash & Collar!
Patty, thank you for the warm welcome during my shopping expletive today for my furbaby, Mack's birthday! We had such an enjoyable first time visit, I can't believe we haven't been in sooner. Shame on me, lol. If you're an obsessed dog-lover like myself, then you need to visit Leash & Collar for all of your dog essential needs. I went in today to buy my furbaby a birthday treat. Patty sells everything from collars, leashes, clothing, treats and dog care products. She also sells cute fun human t-shirts and hats! I loved everything I wish I can the entire store! L&C also offers a rewards "bone" program so that eventually you can receive discounts. I can't wait for my next visit!
Cutest little pet boutique in Midtown! I stopped by recently to get a birthday cake and presents for my Pitbull who was turning 2 years old. They have lots of options for birthday desserts including cakes, cupcakes and cookies. They also have leashes and collars (get it?), toys, pet travel needs and so much more! Staff is super friendly and helpful! Check them out and support a small business!

Small business done right. Attentive, personal, unique, and dog lovers boutique with great prices. I ordered my dogs birthday cake 2 weeks in advance because better safe than sorry. I specified in my notes that my dog was turning 13. So I wait for the day the cake is due to picked up. Arrived to a very cute, corner shop. Walking in, the store is cozy and covered all my bougie dog needs without having to look too hard. The lady at the counter, turns out was the owner and baker for Leash & Collar. She was kind, friendly, and you could tell she loves her store, what she does, and doggies of all breeds! She made the perfect cake, added a few extra cookies she made just for my dog, and threw in a candle/sign for the top. I turn around and see a super cute hat for myself as well. Simply put, they have earned customers for life. No matter the dog, I will always come back to make each birthday memorable and support a local gem in Sacramento read more

This is the cutest dog boutique! My dog and I love it. I recommend this store to anyone who has a dog and even visitors to Sacramento who have a dog. This boutique hosts creative & fun events for dogs and humans. The store is well merchandised with popular brands as well as unique finds from local businesses and artists. Pretty much everything that I've bought for dogs or gifts for dog lovers gets complimented every when we're out - all have been quality items. The owner is super friendly and helpful, and you can tell by how she operates her store and interacts with customers and dogs that she truly is a dog lover! read more

Absolutely loved this place! I typically purchase my fur baby's annual bday cupcake from a doggy shop in Roseville. However, after 2 consecutive years of noticing the owners treated their POC customers different (as in downright rude/condescending) compared to the way they treat their Caucasian customers, I decided to move on. So happy I found this place on Yelp! As soon as we entered the establishment, we were kindly greeted by the shop keeper. She took her time to make helpful suggestions on the products we were looking for and gave us space to look around as well. This shop had the cutest toys, snacks, and doggy supplies! I ended up purchasing a cooling bandanna, doggy birthday bow tie, doggy "beer", and a cupcake for my fur Bebe's bday which included a little cupcake topper & a candle! My dog lovedddd his doggy cupcake! Typically he only takes a few bites but won't finish the rest. But with the cupcake from Leash & Collar, he kept sniffing & licking till we gave him the whole thing ! If you are in the Elk Grove/greenhaven Area, i highly recommend checking out this doggy boutique. We will definitely be back for more doggy goodies! read more

Our dog has a very sensitive stomach, so we were very nervous on buying a cake for her, but I saw the really good reviews on this place and could not resist celebrating her GOTCHA Day! We decided that we had to do something special because we love her so much, and so we went and bought her a cake. We also bought her a new leash and collar here as well. We also live in San Jose, so the cake held for the two hour drive back as well. She ate the cake so fast, and she did not have any massive diarrhea! It's safe to say that I would go back here to buy our little Banh Mi a cake again. Thank you so much! We've attached a picture of us and her as dog tax of course. read more

So happy to find a great little shop full of all types of snacks, clothes, and goodies for our furry babies!! The best part - they make cakes for them, too! There is the option for custom or pre-made pupcakes and whole cakes, recommended to call the day before to have a pupcake put on hold just to ensure availability. The employee who helped us was so friendly and even gave us a free little treat for purchasing a treat. We also asked about behavioral training and she provided us the information of a local trainer who was amazing when we called, I couldn't ask for a better way to end the year than to finally have someone to turn to, to help my dog with some issues. We'll be back! read more

I came in for the first time originally for their Halloween trick or treat event which we really enjoyed with our pup London the unicorn. I wanted to come back in with my husband and we brought our other pup Jasper. Jasper will be having a birthday coming up soon so we let him sniffed out a toy he wanted to take home. We also bought a couple of small mini cupcakes to share with all the pups at home. For later we purchased a box of Doggie safe cake mix to make treats at home for his upcoming birthday. We also purchased a bag of natural dog treats and a few bully sticks. All were approved by our dogs and they wanted more. Guess we need another trip to get more treats. Staff are friendly and want to help pamper your pet with special treats. Prices were competitive and they had a great variety of toys, freshly baked treats and bagged natural treats and pet clothes, collars and much more. There is a cool dog park across the street from them. We will definitively be back to Leash & Collar for more treats and toys. read more

Our dog LOVES going to this local business! He always tries to drag us in whenever we are in the area. The folks here are so welcoming and kind, and dog lovers through and through. They have such a great selection of bandanas, toys, and treats. We usually let our dog pick out a treat when we stop in- his favorite are the cod skins and the sweet potato cookies ($3 each or $5 for two on most of the small cookies). Love that they have so many yummy bakery items with ingredients that are great for your dog! Recently we came by to pick up some birthday goodies for our pup- we got him a medium sized pupcake ($5) that he absolutely loved, as well as a birthday cookie (decorated with yogurt frosting, so neat!) The associate also included a little birthday candle and a happy birthday placard for us! So sweet. read more

Leash & Collar is a cute new pet store located right across from the Truitt Bark Park. Doggies and their owners can now go to the park, and then do a little shopping at Leash & Collar after! We were greeted upon arrival by two friendly employees. There are a lot of cute things to look at here, from treats to toys to clothes and accessories! We ended up purchasing two bandanas for our dogs from a local artist, and a new toy. Definitely a great shop to stop by for your own pets, or to find gifts for another dog owner! Bella and I had a great visit at Leash and Collar. We shopped around the store and I caved in to all of my pups unnecessary desires. She kept sniffing out the expensive treats...which I ended up getting for her. This store has a fantastic " convenient" midtown location right across the street from a dog park. So if you're at the dog park and you need some training treats or poopy bags they'll definitely Hera them here. I was impressed at their Dia de Los Muertos display reflective oof the diverse community which they serve. I'll definitely return to leash and collar. read more

Patty, the owner, is so sweet! I love this store and wish they would expand to the Bay Area, haha. It's across the dog park and the perfect location! They carry anything and everything dog related. Even something for pet owners like crewnecks. They carry well known brands like Ripley & Rue, Miltons, Eat Play Wag. But they also carry other products from local small business which I love (and would have never found out had it not been for this store). Other speciality items she carries are dog beer (super cool and I couldn't find it for the longest time so I had to buy each flavor), birthday cakes/bandanas/toys, and bakery goods from Paw Patch Pastries (she drives down to SF to get them). All the items are reasonably well priced and I could spend hours shopping here. My only concern is that some of the hoodies, jackets that I wanted weren't available in my dog's size (30 lbs doodles and are XXL-XXXL). But Patty can place a custom order and ship it to you which I appreciate. Leash & Collar also host pop ups on the weekend. The past weekend they had @willowspoon (dog treats) and this weekend they hosted @myfurrpet (paw balms, cologne, pet soap, and leather collars). I love a small business that supports other small businesses! Community over competition, always. I can't wait to see all the new things they'll be carrying (heard name tags were in the works as well). If you're driving up to Tahoe or passing by Sacramento, make this a destination stop. You won't regret it. read more

This post is long overdue.. but I visited this place back in October of 2022 and they are fantastic! They are located in a little boutique and there's ton of street parking. I bought a couple of items for my dog for his birthday and got a pup cake! Their toy selection was superb and had very cool treats as well. Their customer service is what really had me. I stopped by my first time to get some treats and toys and placed an order for a pup cake. When I came home I realized one of the treats I had picked up was past the expiration date. It was totally my fault for not paying attention, but I figured maybe when I stop by to pick up the cake I can ask if they could exchange it. When I went back to pick up the cake I asked the employees who were working if I could exchange the item I had purchased a few days ago due to the expiration date passing. They were so kind to let me exchange it and went to check their inventory and got the expired products out of their shelves immediately! They were so quick to respond and so courteous. My pup truly LOVED his cake and all the goodies I got him here. This place has fantastic customer service and great products. I'll be here again for sure! read more

I have been looking for a cute dog boutique for my little one for so long (besides your usual Pet Smart, Petco, etc.) and Leash and Collar is absolutely perfect! I stopped by with my pup on his 3rd birthday to buy him some goodies since it's his 21st in human years. I was so pleased to find that they carried this "dog beer," perfect for the occasion (fyi, it's just bone broth, HA! this one happened to be the chicken one but there was also a pork based one). The boutique also had a little themed photo shoot corner which I thought was an absolute gem and HAD to take a few pictures of my birthday boy. I got to talk to the woman I presumed to own the boutique and found out that the boutique has been open for about a year now! Location wise, it's right in midtown, the perfect spot to grab some Philz, some noms over at Mendocino, a quick shop for your fur friend at Leash and Collar, and end off the perfect day at the dog park for the pups! My boy walked out with a birthday hat, a mini cupcake, a new lamb for his collection, and some booze! I LOVE this place and definitely recommend to my fellow pet owners! :) read more

This only seems for dogs. Can someone confirm I can get cat items?
Hi Patricia At my visit I bought a couple of kitty cat toys and I noticed the feline selection was small.
