The first tutor was a good teacher, but not a good fit for my son or what we, as parents, were expecting. I spoke to Cheryl, and we brought in another tutor. Tutoring for Success was able to recommend us to the perfect tutor for our daughter. And I have seen immediate results. Her confidence and enunciation in speaking out loud has improved because they work together on all aspects of language practice. Her sight reading and character memorization has also improved due to handwriting drills and supplemental oral and written work that correlates directly to her assigned homework in her Chinese language class. I am very happy with the results so far! And, as an aside - since we hired a tutor, my daughter has been more excited about speaking with native speakers! While at work last week she engaged a client and had a very simple conversation in Chinese.

She has been fabulous to work with, and she's made sure we are happy with the tutors she matches us up with. Michelle always gives us options when selecting a tutor, and we've been so happy with the results. My older son was having so much trouble with virtual learning that he was failing every class. Michelle matched us with an amazing tutor that connected well with my son, tutored in the subjects he needed most, and tutored in executive functioning. With the tutor's assistance, that mostly turned out to be in executive functioning and walking him through the steps to write a huge history paper, my older son ended up with A's and B's for the rest of the year. My younger son needed some help in writing this past year. Michelle recommended what seemed to be an unusual pairing, but my son is so inspired by this writing tutor that instead of playing video games, he takes time to write pieces for her to go over with him and suggest improvements. My older son is also seeing her now as well and is gaining valuable feedback on how he can improve his school writing assignments.

Since…read morethat time, my high school aged daughter's math grades have gone from mostly D's to mostly A's and B's. Over the years we have tried a few different tutors, including one of the highly regarded Math Tutoring Centers. Honestly, none of those tutors that we tried was able to reach and teach my daughter until we met Hanan. For her first session Hanan came prepared to assess her strengths and weaknesses, and from there designed/tailored his tutoring sessions specifically for her needs. I highly recommend Hanan! Give him a try, you will not be disappointed :)

My son is fairly good with math, but is impatient and gets frustrated when faced with difficult problems. Hanan worked well with him and was able to keep my son focused on his work and to not get distracted by his frustrations. We used his services pretty consistently for over two years, and then somewhat less in 11th and 12th grades as my son needed less help. We tended to wait in a semester until problems were evident. Hana was very accommodating with his schedules, and did not insist on a completely regular cycle. Our only criticism would be that on occasion he would have to reschedule with late notice, or be late to a session. My son, showed improvement with Hanan so overall I would say he provided a positive and worthwhile service.

In September 2017 when it was the last day of my maternity, I scheduled a tour of Goddard School in…read moreHerndon. (Tip: if you are a first time parent, please book a spot for your kid ahead of time). In our case, we got one last spot for our 2 month old daughter (then) and she started the school the following week. I remember first walking into the school and taking the tour appreciating its beautiful building, playground and classes. During our tour, an older kid walked into the office and gave a hug to one of the directors. It was such a great sign. Not only that kid loved the school, teachers but also directors in the front office. Since 2017, Goddard school in Herndon has been a part of our life. My older one graduated from Goddard school in 2022. She always had amazing teachers around her who not only cared for her but also loved her. Even today when we go to pick up our younger daughter, our older daughter still hugs those teachers (many of them are still here which is so unique for the school). I should mention my daughter had Ms. Padmini as a teacher who is a Computer Engineer turned to educator. One morning, when I was dropping my daughter off, I heard Ms. Padmini teaching signs using alpha, beta, delta. Now, Ms. Padmini designs the curriculum for the entire school. The kids are in great hands with her. They are truly getting STEAM focused education. Ms. Marilynn has been a caring, energetic and wonderful administrator. Last winter, one evening my car just would not start because of battery issues. Ms. Marilynn stayed with us until my husband arrived to make sure we were okay. I don't know a whole lot of people who would do this but having her in this school has given me comfort that my daughters are in a caring place. Ms. Abha has been excellent owner of this school. As a former preschool teacher herself, she brings a wealth of experience. She has brought very practical changes/enhancements to the school. It is no wonder that school gets voted to be the one of the best schools in this area. I would highly recommend this school. Thanks to the amazing education at this school, my kids turned social, friendly, and confident. They look forward to going to their respective schools and are progressing by leaps and bounds. What else can one parent ask for!

There are also two directors who are actively engaged in my child's experience. This administration team has also demonstrated they apply a high standard to their teachers in hiring, as I observe new trial-period classroom aides either growing into a permanent position or being asked to depart ways because the person was not the right fit. The result is a team of incredible teachers! When my daughter had a difficult time transitioning to her new 2 year old classroom, it felt as if every teacher in the building was aware and working to help her through the emotional journey - teachers from other classrooms stopping me in the hallway to ask how she's been doing. For me, it is a difficult decision to not be the primary caretaker for my daughter. The Goddard School of Herndon team understands that and seems to me that they operate knowing they are taking care of the most important thing to me - my kid.
