I initially decided not to post a review, but my husband convinced me that other parents may find my feedback valuable. Starting with the first week, our girls were consistently sick. We expected common colds, but they repeatedly got pink eye, ear infections, and one of our girls caught the flu. My husband thought it was too much but I convinced him to stay and that it was to be expected. However, since starting at our new school, our girls have not been sick once (granted, it has only been one month). The many rooms they rotate throughout the day is great for learning experiences, but I think it also helps facilitate germs between the different age groups. The adjustment was rough. Every drop off was filled with lots of tears and leg holding, but I fully expected this. This was the norm, even 3 months after starting. Overall, their teachers were very nice and seemed caring, but I believe it was hard to adjust because we could not depend on the same teachers being in the classroom at drop off. I tend to drop my girls off between 8am and 8:30am and sometimes there would be the usual teachers and sometimes not. This did not help with the adjustment. My girls thrive on consistency - I knew which teachers each of my girls "preferred" and when they were there for drop off, it made things a little smoother. They have monitors in the reception area that let you watch your child's classroom. I would typically make a cup of coffee (great perk!) and then go look at the cameras. After about 5 minutes, they would settle down and I would leave for work. One particular day, I made my usual cup of coffee and looked at the cameras. One of my girls was standing in the corner looking at the wall. It was very unusual. I stood there watching and just waiting for someone to go see if she was okay. No one did. It was heart wrenching. I watched for 9 minutes until my heart could not take it anymore and I asked the receptionist to come look at the monitor. As I was talking to her, one of the teachers went to my daughter, but only because they were gathering all the students to move to a different room. I left that morning and cried all the way to work. I felt so bad for my daughter and I felt like a horrible mom for having to leave her there and go to work. I decided at that moment I could not leave my children there anymore. They do not have the capability to watch your children remotely (which I was fine with - hacking is real!), but I need to be able to trust that my children are being taken care of and that trust was gone. That evening at pickup, their teacher did apologize and stated that it probably appeared worse than it was and that she was talking to my daughter from a distance. Maybe that's true, maybe not. Even if true, I want my children to attend a place where if they go stand in a corner facing a wall for 10 minutes, someone walks up to them to ensure they are okay. After we notified them we were leaving, the director asked for a meeting. We met with her and one of the teachers. If I wasn't already set on leaving, this meeting would have settled it. To further explain the corner incident, they said they typically leave Twin A alone in moments like this and she eventually comes around. During this meeting, they also decided to diagnose Twin A with anxiety. I was angry. To be clear, she does not have anxiety but she does take time to adjust to new people - as many toddlers do. They should leave the medical diagnoses for doctors. Additionally, they provided us daily reports and not once did a daily report or teacher say Twin A stands in corners or that they think she has anxiety. I also watched the monitor every morning and never observed this either. They proposed putting my twins in separate classrooms. I am a lawyer, also not a doctor, but it seems like that would worsen a twin's anxiety if they'd been together all day every day for 18 months. We started at a new school days later and to say they are thriving would be an understatement. Within a week, Twin A, with her supposed anxiety, was smiling during drop offs. Seeing my girls grow and enjoy their new school as happy AND healthy toddlers made me realize they don't have to be sick all the time and they don't have to be sad at drop offs. I feel awf They did have a lot of positives too - They have great perks like coffee for the parents in the morning and to go snacks for the kids in the afternoons. They also provide diapers, wipes, and diaper cream which is really nice. I think this is to be expected for the cost you pay, but price aside, not having to regularly haul a ton of diapers in for 2 toddlers (they go through a lot!) is a huge convenience for this busy mom. It was one less thing to remember in the morning. During our time there, they had a spirit week which was really fun - we enjoyed dressing the girls up for the different themed days.

From Hero to Zero. Our daughter attended this school July…read more2020 - Nov 2021, and unfortunately what started as a great experience and a happy child running to school each morning became a place looking to save money at the expense of anything and most importantly children's physical and emotional well-being. We've been patient and understanding over the past few months with the school's shortcomings, hoping these were all temporary issues, but came to believe that with the current management there is not much hope for the situation to improve. My husband gave this school 5 stars rating last year on Google - a year later we no longer feel this way. Between February 2021 and October 2021 I can name 10 people (staff) who quit. Even though high turnover is pretty typical for this industry, it is definitely a warning sign when people quit in double digits in less than a year's time frame. At some point management shared that they had a hard time finding people to fill open positions as "no one was coming to interviews''. Check the reviews from ex-employees on Indeed.com, you will understand why. The unanimity of the reviews and the issues specified is astounding. When we joined, the school was proudly advertising having their own chef on premises who was preparing fresh nutritious meals. Fast forward to summer/fall 2021 - there is no more chef, there is frozen cheap food from outside supplier. At some point our daughter started having stomach issues and we attribute it to the poor quality of food she was getting throughout the day. The epitome of how school was saving on food was when they denied my daughter her 5pm snack when I picked her up at 4:45 citing concerns for staff and students health as a reason. How handing out a prepackaged bag of crackers to kids on their way out before 5pm would be a health concern to anyone is still a mystery to us. Not to mention, that the weekly tuition included 5 meals a day, and handing the prepackaged snack does not require much extra work for anyone and was never an issue until recently. Last year kids were engaged in all sorts of activities - scientific experiments, gardening, cookie elections on Election Day, Halloween events for families. It surely felt like the school was putting effort into making their students' time meaningful, exciting and engaging. Over the past few months this all went to zero too. Not a single day of waterplay during hot summer days - the kids and the teachers were just stuck inside. Nothing for Halloween or any other holiday they put on the monthly calendar. Their daily activities started being repetitive and primitive. Lately whenever we asked our daughter about her day at preschool she would mostly share with us who was hurt during the day and who needed ice because they were hurt. We reached out to the teachers who left and asked their experience and their opinion on the situation. After what was shared with us, it becomes quite understandable why school stopped being a pleasurable experience for our daughter on all counts. If the teachers are overworked, overstressed, underpaid, not given an opportunity to take bio breaks when needed, not provided with materials to be able to do fun educational activities with the kids, how do you expect the teachers to provide high quality education? As great as they were, our teachers looked exhausted by the time we dropped our daughter off in the morning - how can you expect them to go above and beyond when they are constantly stressed and tired? We spoke with other families about their experience and heard more stories, including using timeout as a discipline method and management not communicating transmittable diseases going in other classes. We are very grateful to the teachers that our daughter had during her time at Primrose Reston, but we are very sad and disappointed in the management and how they made once great school the one that not just employees, but families started fleeing.

We had no other choice but to abruptly pull our kids out in fear for their mental health, lack of classroom structure and control, lack of communication from management and overall a careless, heartless environment. After a slew of red flags I connected the dots and believe the mental health, and potentially physical health, of the children in this school are not prioritized. Until the current management is no longer associated with this business I would not trust my children going here. The teachers are the only opportunity you have for your child to have a good experience, and all of them end up leaving. Just look at Indeed.com reviews. The owner uses Covid as an excuse for everything when really it is just very poor management. After months of vague or unresponsive communication regarding curriculum and class structure I started digging. Through the children in the classroom and other parents I learned that my daughters teacher allowed several girls to call themselves and each other "bad girls". The teacher confirmed she knew this was going on to my face the day we pulled them out. I also learned there is a table dedicated to timeout, when ownership states time out is never used to discipline. Over a six week period I asked my daughter the same questions on her experience at school; "Who did you play with, who was kind to you, who were you kind to...", and began seeing concerning patterns of negative self talk, resistance to answer and anger. I talked to other parents and several were also having other issues ie. their younger kids being covered in pee at pick up repetitively, lack of kindness to their upset daughter, teachers being too rough, etc. The straw that broke my back was the night my usually sweet, upbeat almost 4 year old told me on the brink of tears that she was a "bad girl". This is where my one-star review begins. Primrose teachers can not babysit for kids that attend the school. I started asking teachers that had left about their experiences and why they left and OMG I CANT EVEN TELL YOU how mad I became. Teachers don't have enough material to perform the activities planned for each day, much less have necessary training from leadership. Then I learned MORE about the lack of support from leadership ie. not coming when they needed to go to the bathroom, editing the daily reports and incident reports, I could go on and on. The teachers are over worked, under paid and stressed. A year ago the school highlighted their onsite chef and fresh food prepared daily. Now the food is whatever is cheapest for the business. Everything feels like that. Cheap cheap cheap. They stopped putting effort into keeping this school what it used to be. They did nothing for 2021 graduation or Halloween. Since 2020 they have done nothing to help parents meet each other or connect. The owner sits in their office with no mask, with their dog, and requires anyone three and older to wear a mask for the entire day. We are so grateful to have had good teachers while we did, they shielded us from all of this...but once we were no longer with them (Sept 2021) it got bad QUICKLY. Oh, and it's way over priced. $3,000 a month for two kids? Now I'm pivoting work to homeschool till we find a better spot for my amazing kids. This school is NOT what Primrose corporate says it offers. There a million other schools in our area, keep looking!!!

By the time he finished kindergarten he was able to read, add, subtract, multiply and divide. Montessori of Chantilly aided his development into a very well-rounded, kind and loving child. He truly enjoyed learning and going to school here. We are very excited to start my 2 1/2 year old daughter here this fall with the same teacher my son started with 4 years ago.

He started in the infant room at 3 months old, and has grown up with almost all of his classmates from infancy through toddlerhood! It has been amazing to watch his class grow together. At the beginning, I was nervous about heading back to work after my maternity leave ended and leaving such a young baby in the care of other people for 7-8 hrs a day. By the end of his first week at PSOC, I felt so much better and my guilt had subsided! The staff and his teachers empathized and were there to talk me through any questions or concerns I had. They made it such a smooth transition, and I felt confident leaving him in their care. Over two years later, I've consistently had great interactions with the leadership team, staff, and teachers. They adore my son, and the most important thing of all is my son LOVES to be at PSOC! He is happy and continues to learn at an astounding pace, always coming home with new phrases and words he learned at school, or art projects he completed with the teachers. COVID-19 has been challenging for all of us, but PSOC has went above and beyond during this difficult time. They have been communicative, transparent, and followed safety protocols. That's all we can really ask for, and I've been impressed by the way they have handled the pandemic. We'll unfortunately be moving to California this summer of 2021, and I'm already starting to look for new preschools for my son. It's been so hard to find somewhere as great as PSOC - we will miss them dearly! Between their flexible operating hours for those of us with longer work days, amazing staff, school-provided lunches, great curriculum, and clean facility and playground, it'll be hard to find something comparable.

We chose Little Flock for that very reason instead of enrolling our son at some daycare center. My son was here for 2018 summer program and 2018-19 school year for pre K2. At 2 years old he started with very limited words, by limited I mean a handful of words such as: mama, daddy and ate. His means of communication was pointing to things and dragging anyone to places he wants to be. He finished the school year speaking in full sentences. Credit to LFCS' marvelous music and language program which taught both Arabic and Spanish as part of their curriculum. Loved that his class would sing in both languages. He loved coming here and would complain if I picked up too early. The teachers, assistants and aftercare staff were all incredible. I can't say enough good things about everyone that works at this school. Everyone was always very pleasant and helpful. Bonus: Photos of activities were updated constantly on the app, great way to keep up with my sons day at school. Lunch options via school house grille. I ordered at the beginning of the month and was delivered straight to school. Tuition was significantly lower than kinder care.

When I found Saint Mark's Montessori school I was taken away with it, and really wanted to register the boys there. The application process was rigorous to say the least. We had to go to an open house, a classroom observation, fill out the application and pay the fees, and then go to a parent/teacher/student interview just to be emailed one week later saying that we weren't accepted into the program due to Ryan's inability to follow directions during the interview. Mind you, my son is only TWO years old! So I went back to the drawing board. I would look up a school, go to yelp and google reviews to read about people's experiences, go to MapQuest to see how far it is from our house, my job, and Kevin's job. Then I would go to the DSS website and read every complaint filed over the last two years, and finally I would call the daycare to see if they had any openings available. Once I did all of that, I would usually tour the daycare on the way home from work. I did this entire spiel over and over and over again. All the daycares we liked were either too far of a commute, or didn't have any openings. The ones that had openings were dirty, had too large of teacher to student ratios, were outdated, etc. etc. Every school I went to that had an opening made me feel like I was compromising on something in the long run, be it small cramped classrooms, or what have you. Then I stumbled on a thread in one of the mom groups where someone mentioned that they loved Little Flock Christian School. I had been to every school within a 15 mile radius of my house but didn't remember coming across that one, so I googled it. When I looked up reviews it had 4.8 out of 5 stars, NO DSS violations, and an outstanding curriculum. Then I Map Quested it, and it ended up being only 2.5 miles from my house! (How did I miss it?!) So I called them Tuesday morning to see if they had any openings, and they did! That's when the principle said "We usually do tours on Tuesday mornings. I know its short notice but if you have time to come in we would love to show you the school." Coincidence that it just happened to be a Tuesday that I called??? After the tour I was completely shocked. The school was huge, clean, had age appropriate toys, taught Spanish AND Arabic, I could go on, and on. I left feeling like a weight was lifted off of my shoulders. I didn't even wait to tell Kevin before starting the enrollment process. Here is the kicker, they have a referral program where if you refer another student you can get one month of free tuition. When I was going back to the fb thread to find the person who recommended the school, the thread was gone. I searched by keyword and everything, it's like the thread was never there. It feels like everything that has happened up to this point was meant to happen. We found a school with firm Christian values, close to our home, reasonable tuition prices, will allow the boys to be in the same class, has openings, and has a mind blowing curriculum. Not only that, included in our application folder was an article: "The Strong willed child: How to save sanity and celebrate God's works" Do you have a Strong Willed Child at home? So today Kevin and I are meeting with the principle to turn in Mason and Ryan's birth certificates and shot records, and we will formally be a part of the Little Flock Christian Academy's family. It was such a loving, fun, family environment and my son only had a day or two of adjustment, even though he was with 3x the amount of kids and had been at the same place since he was 3 months old. He's 3 now and loves going to school, has made so many friends that he will be going to preschool with, and we have made some family friends. They have big birthday parties, themed parties, and are cared for by some really loving experienced people. He knows all his colors and can count to 20, sings to many songs and just is overall extremely happy there. I can't recommend them enough!

My two children attended RMS for the 2024-2025 school year and will attend this upcoming school…read moreyear. They are now 2.5 and 7, and were 1.5 and 6 when they started. They both love the school and their teachers. My older child has several health issues and the public school was not able to keep him safe and learning there for kindergarten, and we are so grateful to the RMS staff for their wonderful care and support for him during his 1st grade year. Before we found them, I wasn't sure if I'd have to figure out how to homeschool him (while working) but he's very social and I really hoped to find a school environment for him that would work. I am grateful we did. They have been very flexible to meet his needs and integrate him into the school community. This was the first daycare/school setting for my 2.5yo and she cried the first two weeks but then adjusted and is happy there. She is very attached to her teachers and classmates. She loves going to weekly French class, music class and PE, doing her work and going to recess each day. RMS has many engaging school-wide events for the children, from the International Peace Day celebration to the International Day luncheon, from the Thanksgiving potluck to the Mother's Day and Father's Day events. The upper classes have many activities too, including monthly field trips, ice skating lessons for 8 weeks in the winter, a spring play and spring art show and more. The director is kind, personable, and always makes time to talk. I was so impressed that during the first week of school, she already knew all the children by name and took time to greet them. We are looking forward to another wonderful year at RMS.

Our children have excelled being a part of the community…read more Unfortunately, however, communication from the administration is poor and consists primarily of solicitations for continuing our "montessori journey". Emails or phone calls to the administration go ignored. Policies, procedures, and school calendars are changed frequently with little warning and no parental input. The school PTA means well, but has no communication with the administration. The owner has provided no contact information and is unreachable. To date during the current COVID-19 crisis, we have only received one email from the administration telling us they are "brainstorming ideas". No information on tuition, virtual learning options, summer plans, etc. FCPS sends out daily emails, by contrast.
