My child is 3-years-old and never had any problem until a certain teacher taught her when she went up one class. She was in a class with a teacher who has been there for quite a while. My daughter had an issue with her specifically when she was in a younger class, but I thought it was just because she was strict. Now almost two years later, my child would come home and tell me stories of her day. Stories would include how the teacher was mean and yelled at her, or she didn't get to eat lunch because she couldn't set up her nap spot alone. Something today spoke to me and told me to log on and watch her in her class (they have cameras in each room). I logged on when the teachers were setting up for lunch and the kids were setting up for their nap. My daughter is 3-years-old in a class of almost 5-year-olds, so it's understandable that she would need more help than others. I watched as my child sat quietly next to her nap mat that was folded in half because she was unable to get her fitted crib sheet over the mat by herself. I then watched a teacher fix one of the nap mats herself by putting a child's fitted sheet on the mat. My daughter even stood up, approached the teacher and pointed toward her mat as if she were asking for help. She was shrugged off. I watched painfully for 25 minutes as much child sat pathetically unable to do it alone. The other children were having lunch. My daughter could not eat lunch until she fixed her nap spot. I am a logical and understanding person, but this is no way to treat a child and not allowing them to have lunch is UNETHICAL. After watching for long enough, I stormed out of work and went to pick up my child. I confronted the director, who was very understanding and apologized for the situation, but I will not return my daughter to a place where she feels bullied and is punished for being a toddler. Irate, livid and inconsolable are a few words to describe how I am feeling right now as a mother. As I said, I know there are great people who work at Stepping Stones-- because my daughter had them as teachers and has told me nice stories about them, but I will never return or refer anyone to enroll their child there and feel the way I do now. I urge the staff and owners to look into the teaching methods used and how the children are being treated on a daily basis. And I hope no parents or their children ever have to experience this or feel the way we do right now. I have videos and photos of the event from the online webcam system and I do plan on proceeding further to make sure this does not happen to anyone else's child.

I am writing this review to share my family's experience so other parents can make informed…read moredecisions. My daughter attended Primrose until December 2025. We ultimately withdrew her after ongoing concerns about communication, follow-through, and basic care. The first time I was told that my daughter was experiencing "severe, daily issues" in her classroom was on 11/13/25, when the owner, Susan Burrow, stated that she was overwhelmed at school and unable to keep up with peers. This was surprising, as her teachers had consistently reported that she was having good days with only occasional incidents. The following day (11/14/25), I met with the Assistant Director, Blanne Burrow, to discuss simple, low-effort strategies that could help support my daughter when she became overstimulated. He took notes, and I sent a follow-up email summarizing our discussion. Later that afternoon, I received a call from the owner stating that none of the accommodations worked, despite it being only a few hours since our initial conversation. She also requested an "updated" diagnosis for my daughter's autism. I had to explain to a childcare provider that autism is a lifelong neurodevelopmental disability and that the diagnostic criteria do not expire. On 11/21/25, I followed up with my daughter's lead teacher to ask whether the suggested accommodations had been shared with her. She could only recall one item, which made it clear the list had not been communicated or implemented in any real way, despite assurances that these strategies had already been attempted. There were also two separate occasions when I discovered that my daughter had not been changed for an extended period, resulting in soaked clothing and irritation: * 11/26/24: I noticed at home that she was still wearing the pull-up I had put on her that morning. It was fully saturated, her pants were wet, and she had had a bowel movement that caused irritation. I reported this immediately to the director and her teachers. * 10/1/25: I noticed the same situation when picking her up--wet pants, soaked pull-up, and a bowel movement. I brought her back inside to be cleaned and informed her teachers and the front desk, and notified the director the next day. These were not isolated communication issues. They became a pattern of concerns regarding transparency, follow-through, and basic care expectations. After weeks of trying to collaborate and advocate, we made the difficult decision to withdraw. After speaking with several staff members, I learned that my experience was not an isolated case. I was told that Primrose has pressured other families to withdraw children who fall outside what the school views as 'the norm.' I also learned that staff are not given any training on how to work with children who have special needs, despite repeated requests from teachers for that support. Every child deserves to feel supported, safe, and cared for at school. Unfortunately, that was not our experience here.

She's has moved up 3 times as they move up every few months to accommodate the ever changing developmental stages. We love the staff and the teachers and feel 100% safe with our daughter being there. Read the negative reviews and base your decision off that. The Owner's will respond spouting off about their "Vision, Values and Mission" but they don't care about any of it. It's there to help them rope you in and make money. They only care about money not about the children or the parents. I am sure they will respond here with the same canned responses they give every other negative review. They refuse to resolve issues face to face, through email or over the phone "they don't have a contact number" yea sure they don't have a phone. Attached to this post will be pictures of all the reasons we decided to remove our child from this "school" please be wary of the positive posts on here. The staff does not seem to care about anything going on, and are there to just pick up a paycheck and could care less what happens with our children. We have brought up issues multiple times with the director, and given plenty of time for the issues to be resolved, however the director seems to brush off the issue and no resolution was made, hence our choice to remove our son from this "school" If the owners of the "school" would like to discuss this information further with us, they can feel free to give us a call ( Not email , not canned responses to this post a genuine phone call); if we do not hear from them , then we will assume they do not have concern for the health and well being of the children in their facility and are only in the business to make money.

The reason why we especially love Barfield Academy is they take time to teach the children instead of letting TVs babysit them. My child has grown immensely since attending. The focus on manners, ABCs, 123s and overall just being a good respectful little person make my wife and I very happy. I know there has been some turnover at the director level, but those were personal choices that people had to make for career advancement, which should never be frowned upon. Miss Alice and Miss Emily have this school running on all cylinders and we are proud to be a part of the Barfield Academy family.

We have had the experience of several of the teachers and each have been just amazing. He has shown tremendous improvement in all areas of early childhood development - vocabulary and language, reading, writing, numbers, geography and overall social skills. All credit goes to the dedicated teachers, the Montessori curriculum and the class environment this school has created for children. The great thing about this school is that it is nothing like a typical day-care. It follows a popular Montessori system where teachers follow a curriculum to teach specific skills to children based on their age and ability. The flexible system allows children to pick up on things they love to do, master it and then move on to something new. I found the school environment homey & comfortable yet professional and safe. The classes are big and bright with tons of educational material. Another thing I love about this school is that the teachers are very honest with you and work with you to help your child in areas that they need extra help with. Teachers consistently encouraged our child, fed his appetite for new and exciting learning needs, provided feedback and involved parents through out the school year via activities. However, they were ill-equipped to handle our child's needs and made the excuse that he was violent and defiant. We only heard he was violent and defiant when we were asked to leave on Day 3.5 no prior indication was given. It appears they admit that their staff could not handle our son's needs. He has since been re-enrolled in another Pre-K and has been thriving there. They are refusing to refund any of the $250 registration fee that we had to pay when we enrolled him, and state it was to pay to have their administration to enter him in the computer (no tangible items were purchased). They essentially deceived us that they could handle our son's needs, and are now refusing to admit they are the ones that lead us to make the mistake of enrolling him there. We were told they would pray for us, but we cannot return. We would have never paid the registration fee if we knew he could be terminated within 3.5 days of enrollment, and I don't know anyone who would. Stay far away from this place, and if you love your child put them somewhere else. This facility is only after the almighty dollar not the almighty savior.

My boys, 5 & 3, beg to come here…read moreand my husband and I always feel very comfortable leaving them in care of the wonderful staff here. The facility is extremely clean, they have activities for all ages, and the owners are there often and extremely involved in day to day operational . My sons always come home excited to show us the new craft they made while there for the evening. We've used KidsPark for date nights and weekday school closures and it's always been a lifesaver. I can't recommend this drop in childcare center enough and hope to be able to continue bringing my boys here for years to come!
