It is so much fun to feed the animals and have the grandkids run around and play on the slides, the jump pad, and all the different activities and games they can enjoy. There are numerous concession stands available to purchase food, snacks and beverages. It was such a wonderful relief to see the rainclouds disappear on this particular visit as it turned out to be a beautiful day

I highly recommend purchasing your tickets online in advance because you will save time and money that way. I believe it is more expensive if you buy tickets at the front booths. That, plus you can schedule an arrival time. Parking is free too so that's a plus! They have plenty of fun family activities to do: gem mining, barrel rides, slides, kids playground areas etc. This is definitely a great spot to bring your kids for some fun in the outdoors! I love their Cedar Glade Trail was a nice little walk for our family and we got to see all the adorable animals! They had Racoons, emu's, goats, capybaras, prairie dogs and red foxes! They also have a bunch more animals towards the front for guests to see. We loved the peacocks. The aviary is a nice spot for guests to walk around and feed the birds. They also had an area with a couple bunnies for guests to pet. There's plenty of other animals they have but it would much to long to mention them all! Almost all of the animals looked happy and had a very spacious habitat to enjoy. Well worth the $16 entrance fee! We will be back for future events!

However, after 2 years here I've seen little to no improvements in the areas that were concerning to me when we first started. I'll keep this short and to the point. Perhaps someone in charge will see it and take these issues to heart as I have had quite a few conversations with other parents expressing similar concerns: Pros: - Front office knows their job and is always able to answer questions quickly -Central location that is easy to get to - They offer a lot of extra events like Parent's Night Out, Dipper Camps, Ninja Clinics if you are interested in paying extra fees to participate. Cons: - Extremely limited parking - The building itself is way too small for the operation they are running. Students can't spread out and are often all clumped up and bumping into each other. -Class sizes are huge now (both gymnastics and ninja). My kids spend A LOT of time standing around waiting their turn. For nearly $200 dollars a month, it's maddening. -The coaches don't appear to make any connection with parents unless they know them personally - The viewing areas are jam packed, hot & stuffy, and generally uncomfortable. I can't for the life of me figure out why they don't at least have an oscillating fan upstairs. Nearly every mom I have ever chatted with there complains about how hot it is upstairs. There is limited seating up and downstairs so plan on standing if you can't arrive early. Getting in and out of the building is a nightmare with how jam packed it is. I don't know how this isn't a major fire hazard to be honest? -The building is so crowded in the late afternoon/evening hours that its extremely loud and often distracting for the younger ones. They have kids crammed in every corner of the gym so it's challenging for them to stay focused. -We have gone through quite a few coaches in our 2 years there. We've never been notified of a coach leaving or a new one being introduced. Some coaches have been wonderful, loving, and genuinely committed to properly teaching the sport. Others have seemed less than enthused, or even mildly annoyed to be there. I'll end here. I think you get the point. All in all- we wanted to love it. For what we pay- we SHOULD love it. At this point, I am actively looking for a better option for my kids even if that means we have a longer commute. Or maybe I'll get lucky and the continued growth of Murfreesboro will bring a new gym to town.

Absolutely Outstanding Tennessee State Park - A True Hidden Gem!…read more We just wrapped up an unforgettable evening at Henry Horton State Park, and it easily earns every one of its five stars. Located along the beautiful Duck River--one of the most biodiverse rivers in the world--this park offers the perfect mix of relaxation, adventure, and family fun without feeling overcrowded. The campground is top-notch: spacious, well-maintained RV sites with concrete pads, reliable Wi-Fi, clean and modern bathhouses, and plenty of peaceful wooded tent and primitive options (including some great backcountry sites for those seeking more solitude). We loved the thoughtful amenities like the camp store, playgrounds, splash pad, and even a nature play area that kept the kids entertained for hours. Activities here are incredibly diverse. We hiked several of the easy-to-moderate trails, including the scenic ones along the Duck River with observation decks overlooking wetlands teeming with wildlife. The 18-hole disc golf course is one of the best we've played in Tennessee--free and well-designed. Golfers will appreciate the championship Buford Ellington Golf Course right on site, while paddlers and anglers flock to the river for kayaking, fishing, or lazy tubing. Bonus points for the trap and skeet range if you're into shooting sports! The on-site restaurant (Governor's Table) serves surprisingly delicious meals, making it easy to grab breakfast or dinner without leaving the park. Staff and rangers were friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about the park--always quick to offer tips or help. Whether you're camping, staying in one of the comfortable cabins or lodge rooms, or just coming for a day trip, Henry Horton delivers a peaceful, well-kept escape that's perfect for families, couples, or solo adventurers. It's close enough to Nashville (under an hour) but feels like a true getaway. We can't wait to return--highly recommend for anyone in Middle Tennessee looking for quality outdoor recreation.
